This isn't what I'd intended to post, but when I woke up this morning Caden and Maddie were heavy on my heart.

Some of y'all may be familiar with their stories.
He, a 16 year old student at Morgan Academy. While quarterbacking the season's first game last Friday he suffered a ruptured brain bleed. (Edited to add: Despite their efforts, he never woke up this side of Heaven. Fortunately, Caden was a Believer; an unapologetic Christian. As an organ doner, he continues to bless others.)
She, a 28-year old middle-school teacher and mother.
While pregnant, it was discovered she had Stage IV lung cancer that had spread to her brain. Go figure, she never smoked a day in her life.

Her baby was delivered prematurely in order that she might begin chemotherapy. While he survived (and thrived) Maddie passed day before yesterday.
This was her last FB entry posted earlier this month:
"There will never be another day I wake up and don’t thank our heavenly Father for allowing me to see it. This journey has been full of ups and downs and right now seems to be a very painful point. I am a fighter and i know i will get back on my feet. Gods plan is so much better and bigger than mine.
I pray that everyone has a beautiful Sunday, thank the Lord for each MOMENT! Go visit, make the phone call, send the text, FORGIVE, and love as hard as you can!!!

I knew about the young man . . .I didn't know about the young mother. God in your mercy - hear our prayers.

Such tragic stories find us all in shock and personal thoughts. God in His mercy listens to these thoughts and prayers and answers each in a timely fashion suitable for each case. I join you in prayers for these two people and their families and friends.

ReplyDeleteAll of us carry our own private agonies, but it is very humbling when we hear about what others have endured. Cherish every day. It's the most important gift we have.
ReplyDeleteand yesterday a 13 year old football player died, Coden Cradock died from these same football injury, both Coden and Caden have been on TV today. Coden was in W. Virginia. the song is beautiful and new to me.. many of my blog friends are suffering from things they don't share. this world is full of heartbreak. our town has had 39 incidents this year of pedestrian and bikes hit my cars, 9 died out of those.. and prayer is how we help but also by helping the ones we know if we can. pay it forward should be our motto
ReplyDeleteI can barely write through my tears, Myra. May God hold their families close in healing for Caden, and for those grieving Maddie's loss. Her last Facebook post? What faith she had! It gives an entirely new meaning to the adage of living each day as if it were our last.

Oh Myra, this is so very touching and painful at the same time. My heart is breaking for those families. So thankful to know that Maddie knew Jesus and she is healed and at peace with Him now. Praying for Caden's healing and for his family to have strength during this critical time. Yes, we never know when will be our last breath...we must live life to the fullest and make every day count for something good and meaningful. So thankful for Jesus and His saving grace. Thank you for sharing these stories with us.

ReplyDeleteAs sad as this is for those left here to mourn, these young people knew the Lord and are now healed and rejoicing in His presence. May all their loved ones have peace and comfort knowing this.

ReplyDeleteThank you for the updated info about Caden. Praying for his family now, along with Maddie's family and her sweet baby boy. So thankful to know both of these young people knew the Lord and they are safe and whole today.
