The valet at Dino's was Kookie. We was known for his perfect hair, his slang ('ginchy' meant cool, 'germsville' was the hospital, 'a dark seven' was a bad week) and his desire to someday be a private investigator, like Stu and Jeff. Do you think you'd be a good detective?
Yes, actually. I've an insatiable curiosity and a 'think outside the box' rationale. I think most people would be shocked to realize what can be known about them with just a few clicks (and a lot of patience).
Stu and Jeff had a loyal secretary named Suzanne, played by French actress Jacqueline Beer. In real life, she was married to adventurer Thor Heyerdahl who famously traveled from Peru to French Polynesia by raft. Does 100 days on a raft, sailing the South Seas sound fascinating to you?
That sounds more like a nightmare!
Clint Eastwood was a fan of the show and, in the 1990's, tried unsuccessfully to bring 77 Sunset Strip back. Is there a show from the past you'd like to see 'rebooted'?

Magnum PI with Tom Selleck was good. Now they've remade it with other actors; just like they've remade Hawaii 50. I liked the original. Also Kojak with Telly Sevalas. There was also a TV series with a very fat actor who moved slowly and threatened "I'll sit on you". He was a PI too - can't remember the TV series name. You're a PI, Mevely; do you remember/know who I am talking about. He was a big man, slightly balding, with a thick moustache. Very good actor and TV series.

Deletei was nagging Bob over our first cup of coffee this morning and he said yes, mother.... he needs to be nagged. he wil do nothing unless I do. nagging is his jump start, like a battery jump cables, that is me. i have said before i have no history with TV.. we got our first when I was 15 but there was nothing i liked, so while the family watched I read books in my room. got married, did the same.. hubby and kids watched stooges and cartoons, i read in the bedroom. that said i don't know any of what was said here today, have a vague memory of the names but never saw any of these.. I still don't like tV series other than a few of the singing realtiy shows... I do love Yellowstone which is playing now..

ReplyDelete77 Sunset Strip was a fictional address. The address where it was SUPPOSED to be is really 8532 West Sunset Blvd.
Good Gawd, I DO remember Dino's Lounge and my parents went there once (I was only 6 yrs old).
The once-posh place became a sleazy tourist trap by the 1970's and was demolished around 2013.
Sadly, Hollywood has lost all of the magic and glamour that it had when I was a kid (*sigh*)
Oops, it was LODGE - not lounge. My memory is fading.....
DeleteSo cool, your being privy to the Hollywood glamour I used to dream about. Back in '05 (?) I won a 2-night stay at the Beverly Hilton ... and was crestfallen to see how dirty and run down the surrounding neighborhood had become.

DeleteI do remember watching that show and in awe of anyone living in California with the palm trees and sunshine. Everyone looked so good with their healthy suntans. I don't know that I'd make a good detective. I have had to ask Alexa many times to find my own phone. I spend more time in the research department than any place else. Search and research. I can snap my fingers which is fun trying out with the grands. It's not easy at all for them, but they have fun trying.Have a great weekend, thanks to some rain we have cooled off just a bit.

DeleteA few weird things - I don't remember the show but happened to read something about my father recently that mentioned it and I looked it up and listened to the song, then this edition of Saturday 9 was posted shortly after. DeleteI liked China Beach and LA Law. Don't have really good TV shows on these days, do they? Didn't watch much if any of Sunset Strip. Might have been too young? I agree, being on a raft for 100 days would be a nightmare!! I don't think I could even last 1 day! So true what you can find if you are patient online with just a few clicks. I have to say I admire the detectives/police in Scottsdale. They were able to identify at least 35-40 people involved in the rioting/looting at Fashion Square to arrest them. That is good work!!!

DeleteI remember that Show and the snappy Theme Song, I use both Hands equally and my Left Snap is loudest. I always liked Columbo, he was so underestimated because he was so sly in his approach that he didn't seem like a Threat to the criminals or whoever he was Investigating, so they let down their Guard thinking him to be a Fool. Of coarse Telly Savalas was pretty Suave in his roll as Kojak too. Some Fav Old Shows could never be adequately resurrected because the Original was too good... I'm thinking Addams Family and The Munsters... the original Actors were a tough act to follow and so the new Movies fell short. I just escaped a prestigious zip code becoz the pretentious asshats and their HOA were intolerable and a piss poor excuse of a Community... glad to be back to my Older close knit Community of not so uptight people who took themselves way too seriously. *LOL* Who didn't Love Dean Martin? My Maiden Name so I always imagined him to be some long lost Relative on an Italian side we never had. *Winks* I was a good Auditor, spent Years working for the Maricopa County Attorney's Office in a Corporate Life and probably would make a reasonable P.I.. French Polynesia is on the Bucket List, but not by Raft... tho' right now a Plane or Cruise Ship sounds terrifying during a Pandemic too... so... And Guilty of Nagging this Week, I've perfected the Art of it I think, just ask the Family.
