Top of the morning, y'all!
Let's see ... where were we last? Oh, ya!
The tumultuous weather's passed us by ... thank you, God!
For some reason, I was feeling unsettled all day. The birds -- even my little Grace -- were exhibiting 'weird' behavior. Stress chatter. My sweet DIL (a life-long resident of Alabama) said she even felt 'something' different. Electrical air.
At "roll-call" Sunday morning friend Brenda remarked, "I do believe that's the closest we'll ever come to having a tornado on us without having a tornado on us."
I'm sure you've all seen the coverage, heard the first-person heartbreak. Our only casualty, an heavy upturned patio table. Our friends made the decision to invest in a storm shelter; and tho' he won't admit it, I do believe Tom's thinking about it.
🎉
Tom took me for dinner ... back to Long Horn, of course. Now I'm suspecting our favorite server, must keep little index cards in her apron. Right out of her mouth: "Outlaw steak, medium rare -- salad with extra bleu cheese -- 10 oz. salmon with double broccoli" ... "am I right?"
... followed a bit of self-indulgence.
rather, "Happy New Year!"

sounds like you had a wonderful “Happy New Year!”. wow.. that is one smart server! she is the kind we all want !! cheesecake is exactly what I would have chosen, especially over cake.. I was keeping an eye on the weather in your area. glad you all were safe.. seems like the storms are getting stronger.. enjoy the rest of this wonderful week..
ReplyDeleteOoops...This is Shug. When I comment from my phone, it post anonymous. I'll have to do better
Delete🤗 Happy (almost) Spring!
DeleteHappy New Year!!! May it be the best one yet!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteBelated Happy New Year to you! I kind of like that and might be stealing it to use for myself!
ReplyDeleteI grew up and have lived in the state all my life. Most of the time I ignore all of the tornado warning and such, but you are correct. This time the air felt weird.
Steal away!
DeleteHappy Birthday, Mevely, dear friend. May this year be the best ever, filled with joy, good health, and whatever you desire. A special prayer said for you today.
ReplyDeletePraise the Lord all is well after the storm. Was there any drinks on the upturned patio table? If not, then that's a bonus. Have a special birthday drink to celebrate.
God bless you and your family always.
P.S. About the storm shelter. How long do people stay in there? Does it have toilet facilities? And pizzas or KFC? What if someone is claustrophobic?
I had a claustrophobic tortoise once. It would not go into his shell because he was afraid there was a ghost there.
Ha! I reckon if someone's afraid of small spaces they'd better pray hard/harder/hardest.
DeleteHappy, happy Birthday, Myra! I'm so sorry I missed your special day. So many of our friends have March birthdays, it's hard for me to keep track. And thank goodness you were spared by the most recent round of severe storms! So terrible for so many, and I do know what you mean by the air being "charged" when bad weather is coming. Enjoy every moment of your new year!
ReplyDeleteThank you, dear lady! Yes, PTL for having spared us.
DeleteI like that! Happy New Year to you! I liked what that last image said about longevity. So true! Cheesecake looks good. If I lived in tornado alley, I’d invest in the tornado shelter. My niece has one and it’s quite large and can accommodate many of the family members. Once again Happy new year! 🎈
ReplyDeleteIf we were younger and/or had children that would be a definite.
DeleteSo much Happiness to you !!!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you survived the storms and had such a wonderful birthday celebration.
Oh that picture of your "Sweet P" is precious.
That makes everything all okay...
I'm getting so hungry for a good steak. We have a gift card to Texas Roadhouse. Maybe we will use it SOON.
Oh yes Cheesecake sounds so decadent and yummy.
Sue
There's no bad time for a good steak! Please go and tell us about it!
DeleteHappy New Year! I love that poster about longevity!
ReplyDeleteMe, too! 👍
DeleteOMG forgot your birthday, a few weeks ago I turned off all notifications from FB and all others on all my devices except the one for text and messenger. I am now going to blame that for forgetting and bob for griping loudly every time a notification comes in. he hates my phone talking..
ReplyDeleteHAPPY NEW YEAR, I think that is better the HBD. sweet P is a doll baby!
yay, you get another celebration. Now I want to know if that thing Tom is sitting in, is buried in the ground or sitting on top, and if its buried how do you bet in and out and last but now least does it come with knock out pills because I don't think I could go inside and close the door, hairs are standing on my arms thinking of it.. details please...
I do hope this was the last of the big T storms for this year. I have been trying not to think that June brings hurricane season
I'd be loathe to admit how many things I'm forgetting!
DeleteSo, you felt the storm coming? We had a warning, but not one thing turned over. It was weird. I think you got hit harder than we did.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you had such a wonderful birthday and you got such nice presents and you have wonderful family and friends.
I'm at a loss to define it, but son and DIL said there was just 'something' in the air.
DeleteHappy Birthday! It sounds like a good one.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kathy. Feelin blessed!
DeleteI'm so glad you had a great celebration (with more to come!)!! Loved all the photos and thanks for sharing them!! Love & birthday hugs!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Terri! xo
DeleteI'm glad you had an enjoyable birthday, despite those horrifying storms. What could be better than cheesecake in your antique New Year's cup!
ReplyDeleteThe thought about longevity is SO true. Jon
I always think of you when I bring out that cup. Your prior comment about the green carnations really touched my heart. 💚
DeleteHappy New Year, Dear! I like that! Glad you are safe from the storms. I live in tornado country(Oklahoma) and I can always tell when the weather is fixing to change. There is a definite energy and a certain way the sky looks. Green or pink skies and I am on high alert. My dogs are better than the National Weather Service! LoL.
ReplyDeleteGrace & Peace,
Pam
Exactly ... you're so right about our dogs! I used to live in West Texas so yep, I remember those weird skies.
DeleteHappy Happy New Year Birthday! LOL. I love that idea, and it looks like you had a lovely day of celebrating and being celebrated! I'm SO thankful that tornado did not come and pick you up and deposit you in the land of OZ, although that would've been quite a story to tell us if it did. Seriously, I'm very thankful you were all safe, and yes, we are praying for those who were not so fortunate. It was a very rough weekend for way too many places and people. It got a little scary here, but nothing that bad, and we are very thankful. Love that picture of that darling sweet baby girl! She is adorable!!! What a blessing!!! God bless you my friend. 75 looks good on you!
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you so much! Never did care so much for The Wizard of Oz. (lol)
DeleteA very Happy New Year ! I like to think of it as another trip around the sun! We always used to go to to Long Horn too, but now we've found another place we like even better. It's called Saltgrass and boy the food is good! Glad you got your favorite, cheese cake, It's always delicious ! And I'm thankful you can now enjoy the calm after the storm! Love, ma
ReplyDeleteYes, another trip 'round the sun! I don't recall a Saltgrass, but will keep my eyes open; there's a lot of new restaurants opening since COVID seems to have waned.
DeleteI'm so glad you were safe. That storm shelter seems kind of cool. Happy Birthday to you! Looks like a nice dinner out. I have never worked in food service. Precious picture of Sweet P. So adorable. Yes, yes, yes to cheesecake!!! Take care.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Debby.
DeleteI'm a day late -- happy birthday (or happy new year!)!! Glad y'all are safe. It was a crazy weather weekend!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice birthday! Glad the meter turned over one more time 'cause I'm selfish and like having you here. I raise my glass to ya! Sweet post.
ReplyDeleteBlessings. 😎
