This week's song was chosen because it's something of an anthem in Chicagoland around St. Patrick's Day. Can you name another song that makes you think of St. Patrick's Day or Ireland?
While in school our Glee Club always sang "I'm Looking Over a Four-Leaf Clover."
Tho' it's not a traditional Irish song, I always looked forward to hearing "The Unicorn" played on my favorite radio channel.
Once my former hubby called the station to request it and asked the DJ to wish me a happy birthday!
The Irish Choir sings that that 'craic' is always best, among the Windy City Irish. 'Craic' is Irish for 'fun' and 'high spirits.' Are you planning anything fun this weekend?

By mid-afternoon we're expecting a bit of severe weather.
Literally, everyone's talking about it. There's not a weather radio to be found in the stores and some have already elected to leave the state.
In all honesty, I got on Google, hoping to find a nearby underground parking garage. But in the end, settled for this:
Emergency radio, 2 dogs' beds, helmets, whistle, folding chair.
Behind me in the bathtub, scads of pillows and an enormous heavy quilt.
Yes on a '60-something road trip.
My father was born and raised in East Hampton.
I've a favorite sage-y, olive green shirt.
Irish (or Mexican) coffee is delicious ... once in a while.
I am first, I was on Shug's post and saw you come up on her side bar, woo hoo. dark roast, Colombian one sugar.. yum

my hometown Savannah dies the river green, that started after I left there 40 years ago. the only thing I did there when they had all the hullabaloo was to the to parade so I could watch all the military march by. ha ha...
I once watched the Pittsburg Pirates baseball spring practice in Savannah with teen friends and almost die of boredom.
We are anticipating bad weather as well. It's just icky out right now, but the winds are expected to pick up by nightfall.

Hope you enjoy a Happy St. Patrick's Day. I will be wearing green and probably having a Rubin Sandwich. I also love corned beef and cabbage. I'm a tiny bit Irish so I think I'll celebrate. Hope you and your family and home stay safe ! Love, ma

ReplyDeleteWe have had such high winds and I know it is heading your way....You wouldn't believe the amount of dust that has settled in our pool from the West Texas dust storms...terrible! Glad you have everything you need including the helmets...can't be too safe. Would you believe that I have found 2 four leaf clovers in my lifetime. If they bring good luck, then I am certainly glad...cause I would not want to know what might have been if the luck had no been upon me. LOL.. Y'all stay safe.
ReplyDeleteSince I'm 100% Scandinavian I will try to be Irish for that day by wearing some green somewhere. I do love Irish Soda Bread and a good Ruben sandwich.

Not really into baseball but always just check to see how the SF Giants are faring ...most of the time not so good.
Yes I have been to Boston quite a few times for work. Took some tours so I could get a feel for all of the history there. I loved everything about the town and some of the great sidewalk restaurants on Newberry Street. Great memories of going out to the company's property that was in an old Mill with the river running right beside it. If only I had taken photos of it. That was before our handy dandy iphones cameras.

ReplyDeleteThe storms headed our way are downright scary, Myra! Danny ordered us an inflatable mattress for the basement and we're hoping/praying it arrives here before the storm does. Glad Tom and you are taking great precautions, too, as everybody in the path should. Prayers for God's protection! Blessings!
ReplyDeleteThat's a good song from your Glee Club. Hope you are safe. Those are beautiful countries they came from. Mine came from Czechoslovakia. I loved seeing the green river in Chicago. I haven't been to Boston. I feel like I saw a 4 leaf clover once but I can't remember when it was. That photo you shared is from a fun movie. Take care.
ReplyDeleteDeadly weather may be in our area about the time we leave for Sunday School tomorrow. Oh, great. (Not) What is it with the crummy Sunday weather this year!? Cut it out! LOL Anyway, been praying all day that everyone would have safe passage through the storms.
ReplyDeleteSt. Patty's is our 46th Date Anniversary. We're going to a neighboring Big City to celebrate at Longhorn Steaks. My favorite meal with them is Wild West Shrimp with a Blue Moon. Yum! It's a real treat.

Praying for you all day today. I hope it's passed over by now and that you are all safe and sound. Storms are headed this way tomorrow, but I don't think they will be as severe as what you all had. Scott is coming down to celebrate his birthday a few days early, and I'm making lasagna, his request, so I hope everything stays okay. Please let us know as soon as you are able that you are all okay, okay???
