Here we are again! Does anyone else feel like the calendar's spinning like a ceiling fan?
Y'all know the drill, soooo ...
... let's Hodgepodge!
It's National Splurge Day... what's something you might splurge on today? What have you splurged on recently?
I've no plans to splurge today.
We did, however, splurge on an early Father's Day lunch last week. Situated in an old seafood place, Epicure was about to go down the tubes (according to the owner). He explained they opted instead to renovate and rebrand.

Super cute atmosphere
Do you have a beach bag? What's in it? Is a trip to the beach on your summer bucket list? Do you have a summer bucket list?
I've his-n'-her's bug-out bags ... including one for the dogs.
No beach bag. At this time in our lives, I'd prefer to sit on a high-rise balcony and watch the waves.
Our Summer bucket list is non-existent ... but I'm open for ideas!
What's a song that makes you think of a summer past? What comes to mind when you hear it? What memories does it stir up for you?
How about this
Sushi -- yay or nay? Have you actually tried it? If you love it, what's your go-to order?
That's a hard nay!
Yes, I've tried it ... and even attended a 'how-to' class.
(I may or may not have referred to it as "Hiroshima's revenge.")
I own a ridiculous amount of:
Paper.
I love living in the digital age, but still keep a filing cabinet + several portable ones.
Then there are these
.... documenting every day since we moved here in March 2018.
Granted, it's a bit obsessive. But if anyone asks what I was doing on such-and-such a date (where I went, ate/read/watched/etc.) it's a good bet I can tell them.
Insert your own random thought here.
Wishing y'all a blessed one.

I have endeavored to be a daily journaler, but have failed miserably, lol. I salute you for your diligence! That's family history!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if it's diligence ... or compulsive list-making. 😉
DeleteHaHa, I'm right there with Lisa Laree.. I try to journal and am gung ho at first ...then life seems to get in my way. I guess one could say my blog is the closest thing to a journal for me now.
ReplyDeleteHmmm...splurge...not today can't afford it but we did splurge last week and bought Dave a mini small chain saw to get our back yard spruced up a bit. A regular saw is just too hard for him to use for any length of time.
We really aren't beach people though the views are too gorgeous for words.
Sushi is a medium yay... I do like a Spring Roll now and then and things that aren't fishy or strange to my palette.
We have a ridiculous amount of Things, stuff, "collectibles" to get rid of, ie. sell on eBay. So much just needs to go By-By and bring in a bit of money.
Random Thought:
Just Keep on Keeping On!
Here's to Tomorrow...
Sue
Amen! One foot in front of the other!
DeleteHello Myra, happy almost summer to you. Sounds like you had a nice Father's day splurge. We got rid of a lot of our paper trail when we moved to the country in 2018. Hats off to you for your daily journaling! Take care...
ReplyDeleteI honestly don't know why I'm keeping it all!
DeleteRed Rubber Ball... Hadn't thought of that song in a very long time! Loved it back in the day! My blog is my journal. That and my photos. I still have a big box of stationary that I never use. A lost art, I'm afraid. xo
ReplyDeleteI think you're right. Sad, isn't it?
DeleteWow, that's some impressive journaling and stick-to-it-ness. I do bind my blog into books and they are a family record of sorts. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea!
DeleteI used to physically journal but slowly transitioned just to digital.
ReplyDelete👍
DeleteI loved that song, Myra! I used to journal, and sometimes, I wish I hadn't stopped. But life has a way of distracting us, doesn't it? I suppose blogging is a type of journaling.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Yes, I think it is. My tablets may actually be more exaggerated lists (with few adjectives).
DeleteSplurge? I haven't splurged on anything in twenty years. Well, maybe ice cream. I never had a beach bag. I own a ridiculous amount of books. Never tired sushi, never will.
ReplyDeleteThe song that will forever remind me of summer is Get Together by The Youngbloods.
I have a horrendous back ache and I'm in a rotten mood.....
Yes! The calendar seems like it's spinning out of control.
DeleteThat's a great song choice, Jon!
Deletesooo with those journals you are ready if you need an alibi for the POlice, you can look up the date and time and tell them what you were doing . when i watch movies and people are asked what were you doing at 9 am on last monday I don't have a clue. ha ha
ReplyDeletei love the LOOK of Epicure, would be fun if i were with you. Bob is a culvers man. the only thing is I vote TAKE that stuff off the ceiling.
NAY sushis, i can barely eat cooked fish.
no splurging now, just paid for homeowners and hearing aids, not even new, but refurbished and total out of pock this last week was over 4000.00. do you know how to start a go fund me 😉😉😍😍 before that i did splurge and buy 2 digital pens to play on the ipad with...
There you go! An alibi for all seasons.
DeleteI remember that song - Red Rubber Ball - it is goofy but for some reason it made me happy.
ReplyDeleteSo you journal every day - that is great. I do keep a grateful journal - about 30 years now - and I have to say it has helped me be a more positive person.
I am with you on the beach bag!
I love that you keep a grateful journal!
DeleteYes, things need to slow down. Glad you had a nice lunch out. Looks like a cute place. Yes, watching the ocean from a balcony sounds perfect to me. Wow, I haven't heard that song in years. Most people are saying nay today on sushi. I still print things out on my computer to save. Love your random.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Debby!
DeleteIt's really fun visiting your Blog. It's entertaining with always something new and great ideas for future post. Here's a thought:
ReplyDeleteReaders mention a day from March 2018 and you tell us what you did then.
I can't even remember what I did yesterday.
God bless, Mevely.
Whoops! I just looked for March 2018 and realized my collection doesn't begin until January 2019. I lied!
DeleteNOPE, no sushi for this lady! Much to my girls just shaking their heads, I too am a paper person. I keep records and I like them to be in my file cabinet. A that's the way it is....
ReplyDeleteGreat minds, Mary. Great minds!
DeleteI'm impressed by your journaling!
ReplyDelete---Cheerful Monk
🤗
DeleteThe only thing I splurge on now is a nice bottle of red or white wine. Get's me through the evening.
ReplyDeleteAs for journaling ... I have the best of intentions but that soon evaporates like dew on a hot summer day. So, I give up. The occasional blog post will have to do.
We need rain desperately. Please pray for SE Georgia and NE Florida? It's getting dangerous if someone was to accidently or intentionally start a fire. Scary. Thanks.
Blessings. 💙
Lifting my prayers now!
DeleteI remember that song. It was a carefree time. I think journaling is a good thing. I get a lot of pictures for my current blog from my last blog. Have a nice weekend!
ReplyDelete🤗
Deletethecontemplativecat here. I love "Summer time and the living is easy" from Porgy and Bess. excellent music.
ReplyDeleteYes, I can hear it now!
DeleteThat restaurant looks interesting and cozy! Glad you and hubs enjoyed it! Oh, I remember that song too...a LONG time ago!!!(but you and I are the same age, so you already know how LONG ago it was! LOL). Regarding paper...little by little I am trying to purge our file cabinets. I just sent a stash of old stuff to the garbage this week, and I doused it with grease and coffee grounds inside a plastic bag as I am too lazy to shred all that stuff. I figure if anyone wants to go through that gunky mess to get to our pitiful information, then go for it. LOL. They won't get anything out of a turnip anyway...LOL. I don't know why I was saving warranty information for appliances we no longer own, or old paperwork for houses we no longer own, etc., etc. Re: your daily journals, now those would be interesting to read! I gave up daily journaling when I started writing my blog. I just can't do handwritten journals anymore. I have a few scattered here and there that I start and never finish. I do write on our calendars, however, so we know when we went to what Doctor, etc., or made expensive purchases. Anyway, I enjoyed your post as always. Have a lovely day.
ReplyDeleteWell, as I told another blogger mine are more exaggerated 'to do' lists, detailing the ever-so mundane life of a retiree. (lol)
