Then this morning, our Bible Study brunch was canceled on account of the weather. Anyone want an Easter cupcake ... or 12?
Updating my 52-Weekly Challenge .....
Whew! Week #2 was a close call.
By Saturday morning I was coming up empty discovering something "new to me."
Then I remembered this festival being held in his hometown Prattville.
The weather couldn't have been nicer -- like Mother Nature was trying to apologize for her bad behavior.
I don't know why, but I'm seriously drawn to this sort of photography.
Imagine the stories this decaying wood could tell!
His prices were reasonable,
but like Tom pointed out, "Where would you put this?"
There were all sorts of food vendors ...
and I grew excited remembering when, years ago, these guys pitched their idea on Shark Tank.
If only I didn't have a shellfish allergy!
In the end, we settled for more affordable options:
Should I have told Tom he was wearing butter pecan on his sunglasses?
Given my new-found spirit of adventure (hahaha), I wanted to try the sweet potato cheesecake flavor. See, I don't like sweet potatoes at all. But folks down here tell me I NEED to at least try sweet potato pie or a similar sweet variation.
Fortunately (or not!) it was sold out. I opted for salted caramel (new to me!) ... but I'm keeping 'yam cheesecake' on my to-try list.
In other news .....
Some of you on FB may have seen my tongue-in-cheek post about a missing postal delivery.
(For confidentiality purposes, I didn't share there was a third medication besides his ear drops and baby aspirin.)
Well, acording to their website, the USPS delivered Tom's prescription meds Tuesday before last. (Unfortunately, the VA doesn't provide tracking numbers.)
Nothing. I did an on-line claim with the postal service, but didn't really expect anything.
Then a voice-mail Saturday -- apologizing that their carrier had delivered our parcel to the wrong address.
All's well that ends well, right?
Not exactly.
The PO advised, while they were able to retrieve the package, it had already been opened.
Now Tom refuses to take the meds and is asking the VA to resend. Honestly, I'm on the fence.
What would you do?
Well, this is shaping up to be a busy-busy week.
I know y'all have places to see, people to do (lol), so I'll say 'bye for now.'

Net is iffy but imma try. Enjoyed the read. Not sure about the meds, it bugs me that someone would open sealed meds if not for them. BUT, BUT Tom sure knows ICE CREAM!!!!!!! Butter pecan (Sherry says NO, but you cannot trust a chocolate's opinion on flavors. LOL

The recent storms have been relentlessly wicked. I'm glad you're safe. There was a tornado watch here a few nights ago. I went to bed and tried to ignore the howling wind.

I love sweet potatoes but I never had sweet potato cheesecake. Sweet potato pie is good - - but it's a little too sweet (no pun intended).I prefer pumpkin pie.
Sorry to hear about your problems with miss-deliveries. I would not recommend you use any medicines that have been miss-delivered. Is it possible to obtain a new lot? And compensation from the Post Office?

I wouldn't use the meds after they have been opened. We've had issues with the VA on deliveries but it's gotten better.

Good golly about the missing and then found package. I'm with Tom and wouldn't take the meds. Who knows what they might have done to them. Probably nothing but I wouldn't want to take a chance. Hope the VA comes through. Do please keep us posted!! Love ya!

our insurance is constanly calling, I mean 3 or 4 times a month wanting us to order our RX from them and this is the reason I do not want to. I am with Tom, I would not take the RX and Bob would take them. I have serious trust issues and would not be able to take them.
ReplyDeleteSweet Potato pie is bobs 2nd favorite pie after apple pie. He doesn't like pumpkin pie and doesn't eat sweet potatoes at all. beau and I love sweet potato and share the baked ones. But bob loves sweet tater pie, I buy him the Patti Labelle pies at walmart, their brand tater pie is not good.
sorry you ended up with the cupcakes. I was about to say take them to a doc office or a friend or nursing home, but not a good idea now like it used to be. bob's son is in nurshing home and covid has once again reared its head. how about the homeless who hang out at walmart
I would not take meds that the package had been opened. I also prefer not to order my prescriptions by mail. Our CVS is within two miles and it just makes more sense to get them there and not worry about waiting for them to come in the mail. I am thankful you all were safe in the storms. Praying the storms will stop, but I think there are still more out there this week. Stay safe please. Love that you were able to get out and enjoy a lovely day at the art show. I love pictures of old abandoned houses, etc. too, but yeah, where would you put it? I do have a painting of one that my father did for me years ago after we had discovered the house on a ride in the country and explored it together. I treasure it. I will have to repost my blog post about it again some day. The ice cream choices sound interesting, but I am not that adventuresome when it comes to ice cream. Vanilla, chocolate or butter pecan, or strawberry or cherry vanilla or moose tracks...well, I guess I do like a lot of them, but nothing too exotic. I do love sweet potatoes however, just not in my ice cream, thank you very much. LOL. Love ya, and have a wonderful Holy Week and Happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure about sweet potato cheese cake, but I do love the caramel one ! Fairs of any kind always seem to have such good food. A Maine Lobster Roll sound really good to me. Finding something new every day is not easy, but you are doing a good job. Like the others I do agree, once the package was opened, it would be a no on taking those meds for me too! I am not sure about the medicine. Was just the packaged opened or the medicines themselves - then no.
I love sweet potatoes, just don't know if I would like sweet potato cheesecake flavored ice cream. IFFY for sure. I wouldn't take the meds either, we live in such a foul world, I just wouldn't trust that they hadn't been tampered with.

ReplyDeleteI am with Victor and others here. I would not take medication that was opened. I once received meds, I knew because I could hear them in the envelop plus it was Kaiser for the mean ole gal on the next street over with our same street number, different street name. We hand delivered them to here because I trust USPS like I trust the govt. Whoever received it should have known it was not their package and shame on them looking for hard drugs that are not sent via the USPS. Idiots, otherwise why would they open someone else medication??? Sorry working in medicine for 32 years this irritates me. Even many pharmacies do not carry pain meds and Liquid Codeine and such due to the street value of the drugs. Tom is a smart man. The VA should have the common sense to replace his meds. Otherwise that sends a chill down my spine. I had a neighbor one block over, who opened my new bed sheets and held on to them a week before bringing them over. I was fit to be tied. People sometimes are plain ignorant. It is really scary. I am sorry this happened to you. I love sweet potatoes and cheesecake haha
