The other day my 'older' friends and I were talking about unforgettable live television moments -- which gave me the idea for this poser:
These are a few I'll never forget. Where were you ... what were you doing ...
- The assassination of Lee Harvey Oswald. My parents and I never did make it to church that morning.
- Man's first walk on the moon
- 9-1-1
- ... and in a lighter vein, "Who shot JR?"
I was amused to learn (that) when the answer was revealed, more than a few airline pilots broadcast the news to their passengers and crew -- while still in flight. Those were the days!

DeleteI don't even remember now who shot JR. Was it someone we didn't even know he was involved with? Seems like it was reveal by a pool and he grasped his rotary phone to call for help. That I remember! Ha ha

DeleteYes, I remember some of these too. But I can't remember who shot JR. People over here wore T shirts with the slogan "Who shot JR?" I believe it was one of the lady actresses; although the script writer was complicit with it.

DeleteI remember the summer everyone was waiting to hear who shot JR, but I didn't really watch the show much. I remember I had just come out of surgery about the same time the first plane hit. I remember when Luke and Laura got married on General Hospital. I went to my bosses house and we watched it together. lol

DeleteI did watch live of OJ chase, and was watcing when they shot JFK, I don't know who JR is, and did se 9/11 but the others i did not see. I watched every minute of Diana's wedding..
ReplyDeleteMe, too! I set my alarm for o'dark thirty and sat in the darked living room wrapped in a blanket -- about 6" from the TV screen.

DeleteOh yes.... who shot JR ... I remember just being full of curiosity of who it was. And...watching that Ford Bronco traveling down the interstate for what seemed to be hours-OJ. Funny thing...I enjoy watching Survivor (now) and each season am waiting with great anticipation to see who wins.

DeleteCan you believe I never watched JR or whatever the name of the show was, and have no clue who shot him or couldn't care less. LOL. All the above moments mentioned I remember, but mostly I remember when the Beatles were on Ed Sullivan! Who could forget that, if you are my age, which you are! Did you watch them? Did you cry/scream or pull your hair? My parents wouldn't allow me to do any of the above, but I tried really hard to keep from it. It may have permanently damaged my brain to keep it under such tight control. LOL.

I remember all those events which means I'm older than dirt. 😉 I didn't watch the one with JR (Dallas? Right?) but I remember what a big deal it was for so many. 💙

DeleteWell, it wasn’t really a live moment, but while having a snack after school, it scrolled across the screen that Elvis had died. As the others said, OJ’s ride and trial, also Princess Diana’a accident and funeral and most definitely 9/11. While watching the funeral of Diana, my 4 year old at the time, said she was going to grow up and go take care of her boys. Not understanding they were older than her. 😊 Take care, Sheila

DeleteThis is a good one. Enjoyed the read my friend. Strange the first TV I ever saw just sat there with a test pattern on it. I watched it for about 15 minutes, thinking something would be broadcast, not even music. LOL. the first program I ever saw was at a Fire Station wher they let kids what their TV and it was Howdy Doody. Loved it...
