A Tossed Hodgepodge

Whew!  February is coming to a close.
Before she does, Joyce would like to know ...

"Give us a two-word phrase that tells us something about how yours went."

Partly sunny

"If you had to describe how you're feeling right now as an amusement park ride, what ride are you on?  Explain."

It's hard to beat an old-fashioned Merry-Go-Round.
The view rarely changes, but there are enough up-and-downs to keep me awake.  Amused, even.

"What's something on your desk or a nearby wall that cheers you up when you see it or walk past?"

Through the years --
My son, my best friend, my rock

"Are you a salad eater?  How many salads do you typically eat in a week?  Your favorite kind of salad?"

I love a good luncheon salad 4-5 times a week.
Usually it's a throw-together affair: Green leaf lettuce w/ protein and a medley of Roma tomato, walnut pieces, hard-boiled egg -- generously dressed in olive oil w/ a zap of Marie's bleu cheese.

However, given our dreadful experience at Long Horn the other evening, we visited our favorite BBQ on the creek yesterday.  Now this is a salad to my liking!

"Without telling us the category, give us your top five ____"

Garlic and onion
Burning Mesquite wood
Jergens original lotion
Play-Doh
Leather

"Insert your own random thought here."

Okay, I can't stop at just one (heh-heh)

Clint Eastwood
Meryl Streep
Cillian Murphy
Diane Keaton
Tom Hanks

and how about ...

ABBA
4 Seasons
Bee Gees
Beatles
Commodores

Okay, I'll stop now.  Did any of these strike a chord in your heart?

Gonna take a sentimental journey .......

Hugs, Myra

  2. Our February could be described as a roller coaster. The temps have been going up and down. It's the warmest February we've seen in a long time. We've had unusual weather hear. One day warm the next day cold. Yesterday we hit 70 degrees, today we're going back into the 30's and will have some thunder storms. They usually come with warmer weather, but instead we are getting colder. Whew! What a ride we're on! Some of my favorite foods include the taste of smoke, wood fires and a hot grill. I love cooking out on a wood fire, Hope you all stay safe with this storm approaching. Love, ma

    1. I agree about cooking on a wood fire! You don't see much of that around here, but the Dallas metro has a fab steakhouse "Dunstons" where they raise and lower a big cast iron grate over burning mesquite logs.

  3. I love your last five! I've never had pulled pork on a salad but always top mine with slaw so I'm sure I'd like this too. Have a great day!

    1. Thanks, Joyce! These last 5 are just some of the bands I wish were still together, still performing.

  4. I am actually about smiling at the irony of it. I would have to say Hurricane for this Feb. and the fair ride would be those swings that flew about straight out. I feel that woozy or washed out. Still cannot feel clear headed, I am trying to work it OUT!

  7. I love a BBQ salad! Yum! I haven't had one in a while. Full Moon BBQ has a salad and one of the choices is brisquet. It is soooo good! It is big enough that Mark and I can split one.

  8. I've always loved merry-go-rounds! I do like salads occasionally, but right now, with temporary crowns in at the moment, it ain't happening. Too much chewing!
    Blessings, Myra!

  9. Sorry to hear that LongHorn's was a bad experience. Our favorite meal there is Wild West Shrimp. I usually order a Blue Moon beer for the drink. They go so well together. Pulled pork "salad" is fairly common here in the South. That was one of the many meals we would serve at our monthly Bike Nights when FAITH Riders was still in operation.
The first five in the list are smells, right? The last one is favorited music. I still enjoy ABBA and some of those listed. They bring back happy memories too.
    Blessings. ❤️

    1. Yes, favorite smells! The last are bands I loved but are no longer performing together.
Just one example: I ordered a Cabernet Savignon and what she brought was light red and super SWEET and tried telling me it was a different label. Ya, noooo.

  11. Your blog post today just made me smile. I love your writing style and sense of humor too.
Yummm on the salads. I really love a good, fresh, crisp salad anytime.
Glad you went to another BBQ to redeem the bad dinner at LongHorn.
I think my February was a merry go round also. So many ups and downs without really accomplishing anything.

  12. I enjoyed your answers. That salad does look pretty good. I just finished a Taco Salad from Wendy's. It was good, but I prefer their Cobb Salad.

  13. You have reminded me to put Blue Cheese Dressing on my grocery list - haven't had that in a long time.

Okay - that salad at the BBQ place - was that all meat? You do like your meat!

  15. It's been Freezing February here. Not a good time for salads. Even with whisky dressing.

You picked some great music in your list of five. Can you imagine which songs/singers we would list if we prepared an imaginary radio programme?

    God bless.
