Crafty Sunday Stealing

Good morning, friends!

Because I'm still feeling the effects (carbohydrate hangover) of yesterday's outing with son and DIL, I've declared this a pajama day ... just right for joining the Sunday Stealing crew!

Want to play along?  Click here!

☘️

What (if anything) are you doing to celebrate St Patrick's Day?

That's my birthday!
Because Tom's playing in another sing-along that afternoon, we'll probably go out the day before.

I may or may not enjoy an adult beverage (no green beer!) to mark my personal 'New Year's' eve.

What is your least favorite color (to wear, to craft with or to decorate with)?

Blue.

At a yellow light - do you speed up or slow down??

Depends.
If there's another vehicle close behind, I'll floor the gas pedal -- and pray the engine doesn't stall.
That (gas saving) feature's only happened twice, but I liked to have a coronary.

How many pairs of scissors are in your craft room?

What's that?
(I'm the least likely crafter on the planet.)

What are the first three items you have 'saved for later' on Amazon?

Hat size reducer strips
Lancome Tonique
Nexxus Finishing Hair Spray

Did you plant any springs bulbs in your garden and if so, have any of them come up yet?

Nope.
As evidenced by the return of an obnoxious armadillo, I'm going to enjoy the neighbors' blooms.

What book, if any, are you reading right now?

Do you prefer ball point pens, gel pens, or thin tip markers to write with?

Gel, provided it's the 'no smear' Zebra brand.
Being a 'leftie', that's critical.

What is your favorite crafting item - the craft item thing you use the most or can't live without? (Exclude basic items like scissors and glue).

One that somebody else creates.

What are the first 3 items on your grocery list and what is your favorite grocery store?

Ground chuck
Bottled water
Sharp cheddar cheese

I've a serious crush on Publix Supermarket.

What unfinished craft projects are you working on (or not:) at the moment?

Nada.

What was the last item you pinned on Pinterest? Or hearted on Instagram?

Gosh, I used to be addicted to Pinterest.  But now, it's been years!  What a hoot to revisit my site.  At the same time, I realize pining for 'things' or places only served to make me dissatisfied with what I already have.

My Instagram site is largely dormant, but I probably 'hearted' something Sean Dietrich posted about his blind dog.
That, or William-and-Catherine's precious children.

What is the biggest tourist attraction where you live?

Jackson Lake (Goat) Island.
5 mi. away, much of Tim Burton's 2003 movie, Big Fish was filmed there.

Troy and Lois

What color is your favorite sweater?

Black
It's more than 20 years old, but I'm not emotionally ready to part with it. (LOL)

How does your family react when you get a big pile of mail?

We're each curious to see if anything doesn't need tossed in the trash.
Aside from the water bill or an occasional greeting card, anything worth having arrives via UPS or FedEx.

T-t-that's all folks ....
Have a blessed day!

Hugs, Myra

  1. Happy Early Birthday to you! I try not to speed thru yellow lights. I don't craft either but we have a few pairs of scissors in the house. We don't plant any bulbs either. Your grocery list sounds good. I always liked Publix when I was in Florida with my dad. Love your sweater. Yes, a lot of junk mail. Wow, so many questions. Enjoyed reading your answers.

  3. Carb hangovers are the worst. We had one of those last time we both had the fried shrimp at Captain Joe's in Waycross. Made me so ill. Ugh. That's it. I'm gonna get grilled from now on.
Guess what we do with armadillo's? Guess. I won't put that in print here in case someone is sensitive about such thangs. lol
I have a serious crush on Publix too. I wish they'd open one in Waycross or Jesup. There's a Kroger but that isn't the same.
    Such a fun post.
    Blessings. 💙

    1. The 2 new Krogers built out by us in Arizona were like gourmet stores, complete with bar seating area and fireplace -- but gosh knows the thought process behind it!

  4. I am not a crafter either, Myra, although I used to crochet quite a lot when my kids were growing up. Happy early Birthday, too! We March babies gotta stick together. :)
I, too, have sweaters that I don't want to part with. It will happen eventually.
Blessings for a great week ahead!

    1. I think I might like to learn crochet someday -- if for no other reason than keeping my fingers out of my mouth. LOL

  5. I love St. Pat's day - happy birthday early - a very dear friend of mine has the same birthday.
It must be hard to be a leftie - and getting a non-smear pen critical. I love Publix too, but it is our most expensive store.

  6. My whole life is a carb hangover! LOL I love that phrase and will now be using it for my own! I also have a crush on Publix but Kroger delivery is climbing the ladder. Myra, sending love & a hug!

    1. We've no nearby Krogers, but I used to be a fan. 'Going to keep an eye out!

  7. I loved your post. I don't do crafting either. Once in a while I will use a hot glue gun to put something together for my dollhouse, but even that has been slow moving for a while. I must be growing up or old or both. LOL. I like Publix, but we end up doing most of our shopping either at our local Hitchcocks, which is not anything to write home about, or Walmart, which you know what THAT'S like, or Dollar General, which is almost within walking distance. I didn't realize you were a lefty like me!! How about that??? No wonder we get along so well, we are both working out of the right side of our brains! Amazing! Hope you have a wonderful special birthday party. I didn't realize you were a St. Patrick's day baby! How fun! Love your sweater. This was lovely. Have a wonderful new week!

    1. How about that! (*grin*) I do a Wal-Mart on-line order every couple of weeks that keeps me happily OUT of the store -- but just being IN Publix always puts a smile on my face.

  8. Happy Birthday on the 17th. Best wishes always.

My favourite colour is mauve. Did you know my grand-father invented the colour mauve? Before then there was red, and there was blue, and violet, and purple, but no mauve. He went to the shops with my grandma and she tried a dress on. She asked him, "Do you like the colour? What is it called?"

He was eager to go home and replied, "Come on ... move!"

She said, "Mauve ... that's my favourite colour from now on!"

God bless you. Please keep smiling.

  9. I'm also a leftie and I like fine tip felt pens, but they bleed thru the paper, so I use ball point pens.

    Happy birthday!

  10. Publix is a great store, but I am not a fan of their prices.

  11. The first three items on my grocery list are bananas (always), then usually cole slaw and carrots, plus a list of frozen vegetables. How boring is that?!

  12. the first thing on my Walmart list is the word POOL. I start my list with the non edible things, and go to that side of Walmart first. you already know I am a 100 percent WM shopper. I do like Publix , beautiful store, and easy shopping there and they have what I want, but the cost is always 1 to 3 dollars over WM price.
no crafts for me either, my mail is only junk, I am 100 percent online. all of it goes in the trash except I can get the health insurance to stop sending reports and those I stick in a file until the years end and I shared them

    1. That's why I/we restrict our Publix shopping to specialty and fresh produce items.

  13. That was an interesting read. Always fun to find out what others are up to. I follow Sean Dietrich on facebook and love his daily stories. After all, I am a southern gal and enjoy tales like he tells.

  14. Your post brought up so many good thoughts. Happy Birthday to you on the 17th ! I was surprised to see you wear black and not green. I have a sweat shirt that has a big shamrock on it so I'll be wearing that on St. Pat's Day. I recently went through all my craft stuff. I sorted out probably 6 or 7 pairs of scissors. I'm hoping they help someone else in their crafting. Everything here is either going to be sold or donated so that I can move.
Nice to have another birthday to celebrate! Mine is March 8th, so I'll be partying all month to celebrate the big 80!

    1. I actually bought a green sweater some years ago -- then when I saw how awful I looked (in that color) wound up sending it to Goodwill.

  15. Happy Birthday on the 17th. Might as well celebrate all month long and get your monies worth out of it.
I used to "craft" all the time, Decopodge, crewel embroidery and things related to it but now those projects just sit in my drawer. I really enjoy photography and used to do notecards with my photos. Never could make any money from it though.
I really like a heather colored sweater I have and have worn for years. Its hard to part with the older very well made things.
I guess I do most of my shopping at WalMart. Its close by and it has most everything I need. Cheaper than Safeway but their produce is always so fresh and good looking..I hate parting with the extra bucks for them. We don't have a Publix store anywhere around here but it does sound intriguing.
Usually the first 3 items on my list are eggs, lettuce, ground beef, which reminds me I had better go to the store soon. I'm down to my last 4 eggs.
Don't get me started on junk mail...especially now when we in CA are getting all sorts of "mail" from people running for office..Its never ending and thank goodness tomorrow is voting day. Of course it will all start over again when who ever wins has to promote themselves for the general election..Sigh...
Of course while I'm ranting..next Sunday is Daylight Savings time..I just wish they would keep the time at whatever is decided. I love more sunlight but hate loosing 1 hour sleep. I'm not an early riser..ok, enough

Produce is a Big Deal for me, but our Wal Mart's sadly lacking in that regard.
