Aw, my mind's all over the place this morning. Let's start by giving thanks and see where this goes.
I'm enormously grateful for being spared the wrath of yesterday morning's storms. (Unfortunately, a local mother and her 8 y/o son lost their lives and there's numerous accounts of property damage.)
Until about 2AM when the sirens began wailing. We sat bleary-eyed watching live coverage until a little after 3 when Josh Johnson said "Millbrook/Coosada, take cover. Now."
Not that many years ago I'd have called someone a liar if they said I'd be living in 'tornado alley.' Now, instead of freaking out I'm usually just annoyed. We prepare as best we can, say a prayer and leave the rest to God.
❄️
I didn't feel much like going to the dentist a few hours later, but I'm glad to have done so.
My hygienist is gentle, a good conversationalist ... and funny, too.
Her parting shot, "Now you can tell your friends you've been professionally water-boarded."
❄️
My favorite contestant on The Voice made it to the next round!
❄️
Speaking of television ...
We watched the annual Tree Lighting from Rockefeller Plaza last night ... then Kelly Clarkson's special.
Call me olden, but I still miss the Lawrence Welk Christmas show. All those Lennon kids!
Andy Williams, too. His impossibly beautiful Claudine. The cheesy Osmond brothers.
Maybe it wasn't the shows' content but where my head was back then ... who I was with.
❄️
I finally got our tree up.
I didn't think so at the time, but now I'm glad we spent a little extra to get the automatic lights feature -- colored for Tom, white for me.
Some of you probably saw this on FB. What I didn't realize it looks like I've not cleaned the french doors since 2018! What happened, I took Dawn Power Spray to the door jams ... and used a little more elbow grease than necessary. The paint came off!

Keep it simple! I agree
ReplyDelete😉
DeleteI agree on the keeping it simple more and more. Love your tree and I haven't been watching The Voice, but that guy has a great voice. In the past Hubby has gone to YouTube and found some of the old Andy Williams Christmas shows. They are still fun to watch.
ReplyDeleteMy mind has been all over the place lately. I think it's because of the holiday coming up and I have way too much to do. That is so sad about the storms. Justin is my favorite too! I saw the tree too but I didn't watch the show. I recorded it Kelly but then I saw it was last years repeated which I watched last year. Yes, those shows in the past were great ones. My trees are up but not decorated. I'm keeping it simple too!
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize Kelly's show was a repeat! Can you tell, I live under a rock? (LOL)
DeleteI went simple in 2006, but this year I went Beyond Simple. it took me less than 30 minutes to put out what went in the nook, about 1/3 of what I used to put there and to sit the Santa painting I won last year with the 34 year old 2 foot santa on the trunk.
ReplyDeleteLove the tree, and I have taken paint off things with dawn also.
About the voice, Bob's fav was Paraseta and I don't really have ONE. I think Kim, Omar, Justin are by far the BEST singers of them all, but the rest are excellent. I love sweet young Braden, but he is just cute, young and a good singer. If I were voting which i do not, I would vote for ____________?
Ooooh, do I get to guess? Paraseta and Kim are my next favs. I think this year's finalists are all great.
DeleteSo your tree goes color and white? Cool. Yes things are getting busier and busier now. I agree with you - We prepare as best we can, say a prayer and leave the rest to God. Not just for tornadoes. You guy is still on the Voice - my daughter has it on in the background right now. I am trying to keep things simple too.
ReplyDeleteYes, it changes colors automatically every 4-5 seconds. No ornaments necessary!
DeleteI'm so sorry to hear about the mother and child who lost their lives in the storm. I am praying for all concerned.
ReplyDeleteI am confused about the Christmas trees. Do you have two separate ones and you change them from coloured lights to whites depending on who is in the room? Very clever and ingenious putting the separate trees in exactly the same position. I compared both photos for ages and cannot tell the difference. Apart from the lights ... Oh, and the dog.
God bless always.
Hahaha ... I can just imagine! Because the ONE tree is dual personality, it's saved many a decorating argument.
DeleteI'm glad you survived the storms. TN got severe storms the other night and I defiantly slept through them. I can identify with what you said - - I used to be terrified of the storms, but now I'm only angry and frustrated.
ReplyDeleteTN has lots of storms - - but Springfield, MO is still the storm capitol of the USA. I can attest to that.
Your Christmas tree is really beautiful - and I love the colored lights.
I didn't know that about Springfield, Jon. Not for the faint of heart, that's for sure.
DeletePS - 2 for colored; 1 white.
A great meme for the season - or any time. I love your tree! Yes, I've been watching the Voice. I was happy about all the finalist except Bodie. His voice is okay but I haven't liked him (for some reason) since his first performance. Justin is great. I don't have just one favorite yet. The talent blows me away. I'm so glad you got through the storms with no damage. Scary stuff! At least with hurricanes, we have a few days warning - not a siren going off at 2:00 a.m.!! Whew!

DeletePS... I too miss Lawrence Welk and Andy Williams. Those were the days!!
DeleteI'm sort of on the fence about Bodie; but not unhappy the Tom Cruise look-alike went home.
DeleteI love the quote the end of your post today. I always try to keep it simple and make it fun. You are blessed to have missed the wrath of the storms. Tornadoes are very devastating for sure. Here we are having roller coaster weather, warm then cold. The weather can't seem to make up it's mind. It's sorta like this in the spring time too. The fast changing weather is hard to adapt to. I hope your Christmas season is filled with joy, no matter what you do there. Love, ma
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! 🤗
DeleteI do love your tree, Myra. I really thought about putting ours up this year, but I'm already out of steam. Of course, we do have decorations up, lights and all. I can't be that much of a Scrooge!
ReplyDeleteAnd your meme is spot on.
Blessings!
Lights, too? That's a tall order. (No pun intended!)
DeleteWe live in hurricane alley and they scare me something awful. The one good thing is we know they're coming, tornados not so much. Good to hear you made it thru the storm. Your tree looks great, I'm still working on mine. AND YES, those old Christmas shows were the best, love the all, especially Andy Williams and those little Osmonds.
ReplyDeleteGreat minds ... feels nice!
DeleteThank you so much for your prayers! I'm happy to hear you're availing yourself of help from the 'elves'!
ReplyDeleteI'm still unable to get this thing to work. But here goes, thru a hankie. LOL Trying to dig out of the MUD in my chest. Things seem to be looking good after laying in the bed and being treated like a baby for two days.
ReplyDeleteAs always we enjoyed the visit.
Love the pictures of the trees, especially with the fur-babies.
We are doing better, but still climbing the hill.
Love from here Sherry & jack anon...
Feel better soon! 🤧
DeleteI'm so glad y'all are ok after the storms. They were crazy! We are keeping the decorations to a minimum this year in the apartment. I told Mark to be prepared for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas 2023 - I plan to go all out. In reality, who knows what will be happening a year from now. Simple might be it again!
