Over the years my family's grown weary of me opening that little book of questions -- so your comments are appreciated!

Given our cold weather, the expression on my face mirrors what Tom thinks of Winter.
Okay, but!
Aside from the obvious discomfort of 'our' squirrels -- and other poor animals made to stay outside -- I'm loving these unaccustomed temps.
Knowing full well what was coming, yesterday morning I suggested 'Santa Paws' err on the side of caution and pay an early visit to our girls.

'Not saying I'm used to getting my own way ...
but when the temps began falling, I sort of strong-armed Tom into going out for Mexican food.
As some of you know, one of the biggest surprises about moving to Alabama (is) what locals refer to as good Mexican food. Seriously, it bears no resemblance to what we enjoyed in the Southwest.
I was giving serious thought to asking Tom's daughter if she couldn't arrange transport of our favorite restaurant meals on dry ice. That, or I might have to learn to make it myself. (Like that's going to happen, lol.)
Then I found one more restaurant online we'd not tried.
You should have seen the expression on Tom's face when this arrived piping hot!

What else?
Well, our intended family dinner has been postponed.
I can't blame Troy for 'channeling his inner Gram Willer' (his words) and asking if we couldn't wait to gather. Chances are that Sunday's road conditions won't be awful -- but he and Lois aren't comfortable asking us to be out.
They will be out of town over New Years, so we've settled on Epiphany. Appropriate, isn't it?
While at Publix, Tom found a nice rib roast; he will do that for our dinner. Friends may stop by. Or not. It's all good,
..... and I'm super grateful not to be sitting in an airport or a snowy traffic jam.
Holding those stranded travelers, as well as the airline/hospitality workers in my prayers!

It is so nice at Christmas to gather together as a family, and invite friends too. We have all had a difficult couple of years or so; and now is the time to be grateful to God for seeing us through them; and grateful to each other for friendships and support.

DeleteI loved your answers. I believe you would really love Gatlinburg. It's been several years since we've been there. Your Mexican food looks delicious! I'm sorry your plans have been delayed, but I'm glad you will still be getting together. We had to postpone ours too. But plan to do it in a week or two. Rib roast sounds good, but we plan to do spaghetti and it will just be the 2 of us too. Stay warm and safe! Merry Christmas!

DeleteLots of people are canceling Christmas plans because of the weather. We will be chillier than chilly here the next two days, with highs only in the mid-40s. The rib-roast sounds yummy. Thanksgiving turkey here. It is thawing in the fridge. Have a blessed Christmas and year ahead!! xo

DeleteThis year I am especially thankful my 2 sons who live on opposite sides of the continent have opted to stay at their homes this Christmas. I don't have to worry about anyone missing flights or being stressed.

DeleteI popped over and read your answers in purple, all of them great. I draw a total blank on questions. we are having ham, potato salad, deviled eggs, spinach, and pickled beets. not what we used to have but easy to do. no eating out because we caught covid eating pizza out. this will last us all week. the sweat shirts are so cute. we are cold here, it is time for me to walk Beau and it is 38 degrees with WIND chill of 20 and since I don't own a coat, I will wear layers of sweaters with hoody on top layer. the wind howled so loud it kept waking me up, to wait for falling trees.

As for Christmas plans being postponed, that is sad but sensible and I am happy you have a good attitude and a rib roast! That could chase any blues away, especially if someone else knew how to cook it properly! LOL. Have a very peaceful and warm Christmas!! So thankful you will be safe at home!

After the bitter cold we've had I'm thankful I have trip to Florida ahead of me. We've been unusually cold. Your Christmas on Epiphany sounds perfect. It's such a special day. DeleteAmen to MA above. The Mex dinner DOES look good. As always I enjoy you answers previous. We smiled at the top picture of the little sweetheart who is not happy! Sherry was just telling our sons this morning she refused to even go SEE SAnta and it was her dad playing Santa but she did not know it.
