G'evening from beauty-full Bama!
I wanted to post something sooner but got caught up wrangling papers. You know paper? Used to be, I was 'that' lady who could put her hands on a years-old receipt in 60 seconds or less.
Then sometime in the last couple of years all that went by the way. Until yesterday morning when I glared at the stacks, realized I can't take it anymore ... which unleashed the OCD in me. No-one cares that every piece of pulp is categorized, laying in chronological order ... but it makes my olden heart happy.
Speaking of happy, these make me giggle
Ooooh no!
Maybe you saw this on the Today Show or FB.
Now comes something called the Lone Star tick. A bite results in an allergy where one won't be able to consume any red meat without becoming sick. In extreme cases, this allergic reaction can result in anaphylaxis shock and even death.
With the occasional exception, for the last 40+ years my dietary profile has consisted of 90% red meat. Makes me long for the time I was terrified of Romaine lettuce.

So it looks like next week's going to be blessedly uneventful. When we saw Tom's neurosurgeon Thursday, he said 'You're good to go; call me if you need anything." Yeay!
Now we're just waiting to hear from UAB when Tom can have the ablation performed. It was soooo hard not to nag him into making that decision, but I'm eternally grateful for everyone's prayers.
Faith over fear, right?
Deep thoughts

A portable salad dressing container? Unique idea. However, I never order salads when I eat out. Heaven only knows what unwanted and unsanitary things might be lurking in them.....
ReplyDeleteThe subject of wood ticks really horrifies me, especially since I live way out here in the sticks. No matter how cautious I am, I always get numerous bites every summer - which might be the reason why I always feel like I'm half-dead.
I get a very annoying reaction to tick bites, with an intense itching that often lasts for several months.
So far, I haven't had any recent Blogger "glitches" and I'm able to leave comments again. Don't know how long it will last....
Uh-oh ... now I'm going to wonder WHAT sort of unsanitary things may be lurking in my next salad. (*grin*) Please be careful out there!
DeleteKeeping y'all in prayer. Please keep us updated my friend.. smiles
ReplyDeleteLikewise! (*grin*)
DeleteGood for you, Myra, for getting the papers organized! It does have a way of getting away from us if we don't keep up on it! I hadn't heard about that tick. What will it be next? I like that portable salad dressing container! Very clever! Usually if I get a salad I'll ask for the dressing on the side :) Glad to hear Tom got the release, so to speak, from the neurosurgeon! Will pray about the ablation!!
ReplyDeletebetty
Thank you, Betty! While I love doing banking and bill-paying online, there's still a comfort level having tactile records. (Yep, showing my age!)
DeleteOh gee, just when we thought it was safe to go back into the woods...out pops the wood tick and his bite will make me allergic to red meat. I think my Doctor would probably say great idea! You eat too much red meat already! LOL. Just kidding. The only red meat I eat is ground beef, and even that is too expensive. I'm pretty much becoming a chicken and pork eater. I love fish, but don't like to cook it, so I usually reserve that for when we go out to eat. I do eat a LOT of salads, however. Never thought about taking my own salad dressing with me to a restaurant, however. I like to try their house dressings or something different than what I have at home. However, that would have been real handy back when I still worked and I used to pack a salad for lunch quite often. Thankfully I don't have to do that anymore!!! I loved your post. You always have the most clever thoughts and ideas! Praying for your hubby. Keep us posted about all these things. We're here for you!! Bye for now!
ReplyDeleteOh Pam, you crack me up! Knowing that you and others are 'here for me' means more than you'll ever know.
DeleteThat tick is scary! One of my old blogging friends, Lynda, can't eat beef or pork because she got bitten by one of those ticks. All she can eat is chicken or seafood. Great news about Tom and hope the ablation procedure goes well. I need to check out Dollar Tree! Haven't been there in a couple of months. Have a good week!! xo
ReplyDeleteThat is way scary! It took me 60-some years, but rarely do I visit the Dollar Tree without mentally thanking you for putting that in my head!
DeletePraise the Lord about Tom's news. Still praying.
ReplyDeletePaperwork soon accumulates. I still have to tidy up mine and file or shred a lot of them. Want to help?
God bless you and Tom and family.
Sure! My secret is learning about Office Depot shredding services -- $1/pound. No muss, no fuss!
DeleteSherry red this earlier and told me about it. Hope the procedure goes straight and works perfect, which it will.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the read, shocked about the sorry tick! I was once scared badly on the trail in Mass. when I found an attached tick in the WRONG regions.. I got sick and thought it was Lime. But all worked out.
WE didn't smile at the diet joke, WE LAUGHED out loud//
Love you lady.. Be safe Prayers for Brother Tom...
Yikes! I may never venture outside the city limits again. Love y'all back!
DeletePS: We were thrilled with the report for Tom from the neurosurgeon , SWEET!
ReplyDelete🤗
DeleteI just walked into the other room and told Andy the diet joke. 😊
ReplyDeleteI just wish I'd thought of it!
Deleteyou know how long my comments are and I just got to the last line and POOF its all gone. Dang! that makes me mad. that white shirt is ME.. way back in 1986, we went to an Italian resturant and had lasagna, we were in the Tyrone Mall in St Pete. I had on a white JUMP suit. the last bite I went to put down my fork and it hit something and flipped in the air and down between my legs, the whole front was covered in RED... I made Bob walk me down and out of the mall with me following really close so no one could see.
ReplyDeletethat video is the scariest thing EVER.. and so hard to figure out what the cause was. IBS is similar, red meat/dairy are a NO. hope you never get either of these. carbs are IBS friendly but only soluble ones.
Ugh, I hate when my comments go 'poof'! It seems to be happening more and more often around Blogland. Did the lasagna stains ever come out?
DeleteI'm happy things are going well there. Those ticks are a terrible threat. Going in to woods or fields we must remember to keep ourselves covered from head to toe. Dogs are particularly susceptible. I used always put medication on them to prevent bites. But I don't think they have that for humans. Take care and have a good week. Happy Monday! Love, ma
ReplyDeleteIt's always something, isn't it? Happy new week, Ma!
DeleteI have a few of those salad dressing bottles. I got them for when I was packing my lunch...never thought of taking them to restaurants, but now that my favorite dressings are getting harder to come by...I just may have to start doing that. And I suppose I could choose healthier. I did read about that tick somewhere...yet another instance of the nature being out to get us. lol Laughing at that meme about the white shirt. My late sister-in-law...it was guaranteed that if she wore a new shirt, dress, or whatever, part of the meal was going to end up on it. Every.Single.Time. Glad things are looking good with Tom!
ReplyDeleteI secretly hope someday adult bibs will become socially acceptable,
DeleteDanny made the perfect Caesar dressing last night! I would love to get one of those dressing containers in the future, Myra. I got such a kick out of the meme about the white shirt. I was wearing one when it collided with blackberry cobbler a few days ago. Thank goodness for Stain Stick! I'll keep praying for Tom and for you, my friend. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteBlackberry? Yikes!!! It's hard to beat a good Caesar. Lucky you!
DeleteThat travel salad dressing container is a great idea. I need my OCD to kick in so I can declutter the house! Praying that the ablation will go well. I know someone having one this week. ((Hugs))
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, that sort of thing only happens every few years. My retirement motto has become (Gotta be) In The Mood.
DeleteThe white tee shirt comment has me written all over it. Once last year I was eating with my son and DIL while wearing a white blouse. We were near the end of the meal when I dropped the last bite of a delicious taco salad on it. Without missing a beat my son just said "almost".
ReplyDeleteToo funny!
DeleteThere is such a sense of accomplishment after organizing papers, isn't there? I may have snorted when I read the "white tee shirt comment"! So true!
ReplyDeleteI keep threatening to make my hubby wear a bib!
