I'm hearing of more folks unable to comment, except as 'Anonymous.' Been there! In fact, it happened to me again last week. I don't claim to have the answer, but this is what worked for me:
Looking at my dashboard, I clicked on 'Settings' then (sub-section) 'Comments.' Each place I'd chosen an option I toggled off, then on again and hit 'Save.' Mevely317 might not be the cutest moniker on the block, but it feels better than being Anonymous!
And another thing! Thanks for Martha Jane for alerting me (that) she'd left a comment but didn't see it.
For reasons only known to those rascals at Blogger, her original comment had been flagged 'Spam.' This is actually the second time it's happened! Because some of your comments don't appear in my e-mail (Jack, I'm looking at you. *grin*), I've taken to checking the 'Comment" section on my dashboard every few days. Those censors need to get over themselves!
Do you enjoy BLT's?
Last week Tom got to craving one, but we'd no bacon. Wait a minute! I remembered his son's Christmas present included a 5-pound package of Conecuh slab bacon. It arrived frozen and shoved in the freezer where it's stayed. (Oh, Tom made noises about buying a new hacksaw blade, but neither of us was especially keen.)
Basically, I took it out and allowed it to thaw completely. Because I'll do almost anything to avoid the mess that comes with frying bacon, I brought out the slow cooker. Tom was doubtful but allowed, "If we have to, we can always throw it out." Ha!
Guess what?!? It was delicious! I'm normally not a fan of bacon because of the sodium, but this stuff isn't salty at all. Have you ever done bacon in the crock pot?
There's little else going on, but I did discover a nearby estate sale Friday morning.
This is a little sad, but I still LOL'd.
Me, I always head for the kitchen first ... where I found this!
Anyone who knows my native Chicago, sax-blowing hubby knows why it had to come home with me. Another plus - we bumped into one of his flying friends and wound up going out with he and his wife for a bite of lunch. It feels soooo good to be able to do that again!

I love BLT'S especially with Dukes Mayo, just saying...and I am not doing anything today. I have elected to stay in this chair...because after yesterday's accident (some old lady (Please excuse that) hit my SUV) yeahhhhhhhhh I'll just stay put. I should have listened to that voice in the back of my head that told me to stay put/at home...did I listen? NOOOOOOOOOOO. grin

Deletei love BLT and never made one at home, I like mine served to me by wait staff. other than a burger BLT is my favorite. I depsise cooking bacon and frying stuff but love eating it. never would have thought of cooking bacon in a slow cooker, but do not know what this bacon is... I am happy with a slice of white bread, mayo on it and wrapped around 2 peices of bacon.. i can almost smell/taste this bacon. when bob cooks bacon, the entire kitchen is covered in grease.
ReplyDeletesorry but i have to say this. that is one UGLY cup. My mother had a triple china cabinet full of dishes she never used and several sets of FOR GOOD glasses she never used. I despised all of them. and the cabinet they lived in... my friend went to Itlaly on her honeymoon, right after WWII. she came home with a very expensive china chandelier. UGLY doesn't describe it. she had cabinets of things that went with it and she was so hurt when she was moving the her son and his wife did not want the chandelier or any of the china. I kept my mouth shut, unlike today with the cup. I hate to say this and put a jinx on myself but so far no problems commenting. but every day i have 2 to 5 comments that go to spam. and 2 people have stopped coming in my email. blogger must be getting ready to surprise us with more changes
Hahaha ... that cup is rather loud! I've finally begun using my mother's glassware, but I'd bet my son or grands could care less.

DeleteI never would have thought of doing bacon in the crock pot. What about the grease? I do mine in the oven on my broiler pan, set the oven to 400 or even 425 degrees and let it cook about 15-20 min. and flip over and finish in about 5 more minutes usually. Just watch the pieces around the out edges as they may cook faster. On the broiler pan the grease all drips down into the pan below the broiler grid and therefore doesn't splatter or burn. Comes out perfect every time, and less grease that way. I usually cook up the whole pound package that way and then refrigerate whatever is leftover to reheat as needed in the microwave. Love the fun cup you found! It certainly is unique! I enjoyed your post as always. Yeah, my kids will have to figure out what to do with a LOT of stuff someday, but until then I'm going to enjoy it until I don't enjoy it anymore, and then who knows what will happen? Anything goes! LOL. Have a blessed day.
ReplyDeleteYa, there was lots of grease. I waited until it cooled, put in tin foil and threw in the freezer 'til trash day. Would you believe we don't have a broiler pan? I suspect it was left behind when we moved and I've never got around to buying another.

I was wondering who the anonymous person was who appeared out of the blue in my feed. :) Bacon is, and always will be, one of my favorite foods; no, I've never tried cooking it in a crock pot. Used to do the slices in the oven, but have returned to frying them. Maybe it's psychological, but I think they taste better.

DeleteI love BLT's. I just wish I had someone to make them for me because it's quite the procedure. Fry the bacon, cut the tomato, add the lettuce, add the right amount of mayo, toast the bread...

I've been noticing the anonymous commenters - For me it happens when I use my phone. It 's fine on the desk top. Just another Blogger hiccup.
They are kind of labor-intensive, aren't they? Maybe that's why I let Tom make his own, lol.
DeleteI am so going to have to try bacon in the crock pot! I do like BLTs though I haven't had one in a long time. They are good for hot summer days I do believe! I had noticed that about comments going into spam. It was frustrating when I first got an email notice of a comment (it was from Debby/Just Breathe) and when I went to answer it on my blog, it wasn't there! I finally figured out how to look for comments on Blogger and saw that it was labeled as spam. What a mess! And then the same thing happened to me. I left a comment on someone's blog and it didn't come through so I left another comment saying I had commented. She did check and sure enough it came through as spam. I haven't had the problem with commenting anonymously but I've had to do a lot of Captcha's.

Jack's comments don't come through my email either, lol. He must be stealth somehow, under the radar :)
