This week's questions were filched from something called Sad Sleepy Survey Rambles. As our hostess Bev proclaims, "Cheers to all of us thieves!"
1. Have you ever been teased because of the things you like?
Mayonnaise comes to mind.
I do like a little burger with my Hellman's.
2. Do you hold grudges?
I no longer dwell on them, but yes.
Come to think of it, they qualify for their own AARP membership.
3. Were there any classes you enjoyed because of the teacher?
Several! In fact, my BF and I had a major crush on Mr. Baldwin, our 7th grade history teacher. We'd used to walk past his house singing, "On The Street Where You Live" (My Fair Lady).
4. Was there a dress code at your school?
The hems of our dresses/skirts had to be near no higher than 1" above the knee. (No-one I knew ever tried to challenge.)
And only once, when the snowfall reached record proportions were we girls permitted to wear our slacks to school. I was so cross when, the next year, they relaxed the 'no slacks' rule.
5. Have you ever been a bad friend?
I've been a neglectful friend. That qualifies.
6. Has a friend ever replaced you with somebody else?
Yes. (See #2)
After 2-3 requests I finally accepted Cheryl's Facebook friend request - most likely because I was curious how her life turned out.
7. Have you ever disliked something just because it was popular?
I've probably disliked several popular things ….. but not because they were popular.
8. Have you ever watched a movie just because it starred an actor you liked?
"Just because?" No. We're not big movie-goers.
9. Are there actors/musicians you have met?
Several.

I don't know that 'judge' is a term I'd use.
But I don't see myself hanging out with someone who enjoys rap or hip-hop.

Since I never owned an mp3 player, that would be my phone.

Um. I like his music.

Di's death was a hard one. The media had made her such a big part of our daily lives whether we really followed her or not. She was just EVERYWHERE! It was like losing a member of the family.

DeleteOh my goodness - I feel I know you better from this - you were very honest and we have a lot in common. Not sure sure about the music albums though.
ReplyDeleteIsn't music subjective? I hated to leave out 'real/old' country, but these were the only ones where I enjoyed every track of every CD.
DeleteShe wasn't a celebrity but she was an "idol" of mine and a popular Christian teaching author. Jennifer Kennedy Dean who changed my whole perspective of prayer recently died unexpectedly at the tender age of 65 (I'm thinking heart attack or stroke since she died at home and was fine 2 hours previous to her death). When I read about it on her Facebook page from postings from her children my mouth opened wide and I still can't believe it. She lost her husband to cancer in 2005 and I think God was merciful in that he took her so quickly but still so young.

I remember when I was in high school us girls had to wear dresses and they had to touch the knees. When we were in 8th grade we rolled our school uniform skirts up a bit so we could try to get away from the "hit the knee" role and most of the time we got away with it. When I was in 10th grade they loosened the dress code and we could wear pants. I don't think I ever wore a dress to school after that.
I think the male teachers I tended to get were bald, overweight, and old. Never a "crush" on any of them :)

DeleteWe aren't big movie goers either, Myra, but will sometimes rent from Red Box if we're going on vacation. And the death of Princess Diana hit me hard, too; I remember it as if it were yesterday. So tragic! I can't look at her two sons without remembering her.

I think over here in the UK, most people do not rate Princess Diana as a "celebrity". I can see why none Brits do though.

Deaths? I am sure some did at the time, especially cowboy types. I miss John Wayne like millions of folk.

ReplyDeleteIf something has impacted me enough I might hold a grudge. Often I will forget something bad that someone has done and just let it go, but when a grudge takes hold of me it can be difficult to shake. Sometimes an apology with a recognition of having done something wrong can go a long way for me.

We had dress codes in high school -- too short skirts were the nemesis -- and college during freshman year. Skirts for dinner and dresses and heels for Sunday lunch and Wednesday dinner. Kind of a pain then, but quaint now.

ReplyDeleteI disliked intensely the mother of the biological father of my first child. LOts of bad things happened in her life and I suppose it was all a result of her hatred toward me. But I thank God daily I was not stuck with that mess! My sister Mary's ex, an abuser. I never understood why she took it! But he was messed up from Vietnam plus came from a terribly dyfunctional phamily and died tragically so it was hard to "hate" but I never cared for him personally. My sis is n by bitterness and sometime she likes to try to play that political crazy card with me. she never wins. I have too much goodness in my life so it is hard to hate. I do however do not care about people and their opinion as I once did when I was young. Diana was a tough loss and so was Mother Teresa on the very same day but she was like that, never wanting noteriety just caring for the sick and dying. I like very few celebs. I am beginning to dislike prince Harry's wife. Leave to an ignorant celebrity to try to undo generations of tradition and I hate seeing him under her spell. sort of like one of those Lifetime movies U G H ! Catholic school, yep - dress code my whole life which answers the ? why I love shoes and clothes in my non Marie Kondo years hahahaha! I have a HUGE playlist on my phone. I had tons of vinyl LP'S but my dad had a 45 RPM record of Andy Williams singing The Battle Hymn of the Republic and two vinyl albums, Mario Lanza and Eddy Arnold. I wish I had them. Knowing my sister, I bet they are stuffed in a lonely box in her attic with dad's bible. SIGH ...
