So, where does the third week of 2026 find everyone?
I'm going with "soft reset" ..... more thoughtful choices.
Not so much a hard line in the sand.

If I want onion rings -- and swish them through Duke's mayo on the way to my mouth -- I'm not going to beat myself up about it the next morning.
Like my affinity for pumpkin pie. Normally, one slice a year and I'm good.
What's with these cravings, then? I suspect it may have something to do with my hand soap -- Dove's pumpkin cinnamon.

Thankfully, Wal-Mart sells these dear little 4" pies -- perfect for the occasional treat.
Speaking of pumpkin!
While my home's decidedly Autumn, I learned there's an official Color for the year.
Pantone "Cloud Dancer"
I dunno. I can visualize that (decor) in a Manhattan apartment; perhaps a yoga studio
(Does your home have a season, a color?)
Apart from the white noise, ours was a pleasant sort of week.
Against all odds, the little lemon seed I planted last Spring continues to grow.

Does anyone remember that splendid book, Simple Abundance? There's a tired volume sitting in my bookcase, but it's been more than a decade since I opened the cover.
Then! Outa the blue clear sky I spotted this in my Facebook feed.

What a delightful post, had me smiling all the way to the end. WoW, on the lemon plant, I've been thinking about starting a sweet potato vine. We'll see . . . Onion rings are good no matter what you dip them in, so enjoy every bite. Great picture of the Gatherers, y'all remind me of my GLOWers. Hope you're enjoying a wonderful day.

DeleteI love your thought at the end. There's nothing wrong in having something you enjoy like pumpkin pie and onion rings. But I would not advise you have them together.

ReplyDeleteglad you have your gatherers, at one time for a few years in the distant past, I was part of a group of 6 of us, we met for breakfast once a month, and sometimes went to one of our homes to chat.. it was nice. now I chat with e friends.
Well, "e" friends count! ... and one doesn't have to put on make-up or get dressed!
DeleteOur home, with our rock fireplace, wooden floors and tables, and earth tone paint has a rustic appeal no matter what season we are in. Love that you have a group of ladies that you can get together with, too. And that sign? Had me grinning ear to ear! Hope you have a blessed week, Myra!

Delete2026 finds me in deep anxiety with a ray of optimism. Onion rings with mustard or mayo - - I'll eat without restraint. I love pumpkin pie - - and I used to buy those little mni pies from Walmart.

DeleteI enjoyed your "this and that" post so much. You had me grinning all the way. I have been eating some delicious grapefruit and just last night I decided to save the seeds and will look for some appropriate dirt and pot in which to plant them as soon as the weather warms up a bit. I hope they will grow and then I won't have to go searching for a perfect grapefruit! I love your Gatherer's photo of happy ladies together. That's pretty special. I miss having a small group like that and me thinks I need to get one started this year. I do better in smaller groups. And the Swell Dames club sounds like fun, but I think we are a bunch of "swell dames" right here in blogland. We inspire each other to think about new things and learn a lot from one another about life in general. I love our bunch of "swell dames". That last quote was something to really think about. Thank you for making me do some thinking today.

ReplyDeleteThe "Cloud Dancer" color just looks white to me. I think I could say our house is more "Fall" colors: hunter green and red walls with white trim for the living room. Our bedroom is pastel yellow. I'm definitely not an all white wall person.
A lemon tree would be nice to have. There's so many of our recipes that we could use that in. I'm an even bigger fan of orange flavor. Can't grow one of those here, so, I have to satisfy myself with zest in a bottle.
It's gotten cold and wet here in SE Georgia. The weather people said it might snow but it never did ... who knows what tomorrow may bring though! ❄️😁
I never expected that seed would actually grow, but it's been fun watching it thrive!

DeleteWell, so much for my comment...I typed a long comment and it just simply disappeared. My house smells like cinnamon..most all year long. Sometimes I mix a few fruit plug-ins with the cinnamon. I did see that the new color is Pantone. I tend to lean more towards the yellows, turquoise, white/creams colors in our home. Maybe a few splashes of red. I know, sounds wild. Gurl, I say if you want those onion fries and mayo, Go For It. You deserve this treat. You and your friend crew look so cute in this photo...Friends are awesome aren't they? Love your lemon seed plant. We are still getting lemons off of Sam's tree. Of course, it's in the greenhouse. Enjoy the day...BTW..I always love your post... hugs

DeleteWow that last comment, it shook me to the core...Our house? Right now, smells like Maple and Cream Latte (our candle wax that is on) and our home is just plain neutral. I do have splashes of pink and red... but you know, the hubby likes brown. LOL--thanks for the smiles.

DeleteI used to have that book and love it. Simple abundance was wonderful. It is very chilly in Florida today but even colder in Texas. My DIL has splashes of color around her house with Valentines decorations, I love it. Hope you are enjoying this cool weather. Love, ma

Autumn is definitely my color of choice. It just makes me and my home feel cozy and comfortable. Pity my older son after we are gone and he has to go through all of our stuff. He is a minimalist and really isn't into warm colors at all. Oh well, I won't be around to hear his comments. HaHa
Oh yes, I love that sign about pulling up your pants. I often say that to myself, well maybe more to the tv when I see some of the rappers and police reality shows..

ReplyDeleteI'm having a slow start to the new year. Those onion rings sound so delicious. That hand soap sounds really nice. Those 4" pies sound perfect. We don't have a season color that I know of. Glad your lemon seed is doing well and that sign to pull your pants up is great! How wonderful to have that luncheon with friends. I love that saying you shared. It is a beautiful reminder to enjoy each day.
