..... today I'm going to flip the mirror.
I'm not talking Real Challenges. You know, like the threat of nuclear war or the "C" word. We're right there with you!
No, I'm talking about random little annoyances.
In the sort of world filled with mean, scary people and places, it's okay to shine the light on them ... to realize how silly they are. Just maybe we can laugh at each other AND ourselves.
Here are 10 of my First-World Pet Peeves
Full trash containers
Wire clothes hangers
Low-rise jeans
$20 bills
Manufacture tags on sheets, towels, pillows
Long book chapters
Repeated messages, reminding me of an upcoming appointment.
(I'm 75 years old, not 7. Karen.)
(I'm 75 years old, not 7. Karen.)
Straight-in (v. slanty) parking spaces
Saran Wrap
and finally ...
Drivers who don't do a finger wave when I slow to let them in traffic
I'd love to hear some of yours!
Be sweet,
Myra

Over here, when we buy towels, or socks or shirts, there is a small plastic tag that holds a piece or card with the manufacturer's information. You have to carefully cut the plastic tag and make sure you find the pieces you have cut off to throw them away. So annoying when they fall on the floor and are so difficult to find.
ReplyDeleteI don't like long book chapters either. When I write a book I like to know how I started the chapter by the time I write its ending.
Mu other pet hate is when they interview people on TV and they show their name and title. Titles like: Political Commentator, Blogger, Writer, Columnist, Author. What do these titles mean? Why not say: John Smith - Political Commentator for XXX Newspaper. Or writer for YYY TV. Let the viewer know who the interviewee is so we can ignore him better.
Sorry to moan, Mevely.
God bless.
Hahaha! Those invisible tags are the worst; I'm afraid one of the pups could find one and choke.
DeleteYes, I do not like those tags on bed linens, pillows, etc., that say do not remove them under penalty of law. Who's going around and checking to see if they've been removed? I wonder what the penalty is? I remove mine just to spite them. LOL. And yes, those little plastic tags on price tags and also that hold socks and other things together, so you have to snip them to get them apart, and then the little tags fly everywhere and you never can find them unless it's with your bare foot in the middle of the night. Dust bunnies under my tables and chairs and beds are another pet peeve. Where does so much dust come from??? Even after I dust them up, another one comes rolling out just to spite me!! It's literally impossible to have a totally dust free house. And anyone who has one better not gloat. People who gloat is another pet peeve. LOL. This list could get very long. I'd better stop before I think of something that insults someone else without meaning to. LOL. This was fun. Rather cathartic, actually! I rarely allow myself to express myself this way. LOL. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteOh gurl, you crack me up. Express yourself anytime ... this is a safe place.
DeleteI am glad to know someone else doesn't like full trash containers. LOL
ReplyDeleteI do love the picture, that is for sure.
I do not like constant changes to improve my computer or telephone, that is already too complicated for me. LOL
Most of all I do not like small refrigerators (like this RV has), no room for left overs. LOL
I did enjoy the entry. Now try to smile and stay warm...
Those electronic updates are gonna be the death of anyone over the age of 50!
DeleteI poster today on my 10 happy things and linked it back to you! Later in the week, I'll do my pet peeves.
ReplyDeleteWire clothes hangers, and low rise jeans I agree with. Can I have your $20 bills?
Sure! ... if you'll give me four $5's for the parking valet and Scout cookies.
DeleteWell, I hate those tags on pillows and towels and such, too. My biggest peeve, though, is drivers who sit there until you are right on top of them and then pull out in front of you while you're going full speed ahead.
ReplyDeleteOoooh, good point!
DeleteHow I once tortured my brother about tearing off a tag on one of our pillows, saying that he could be arrested for doing such a heinous act. Do you recall those, Myra? How stupid was that! Anyway, I don't like tags on towels or linen unless it's on the inside of a fitted sheet that tells you the corner it should be placed on the mattress.
ReplyDeleteGoodness, it's cold in the South! Stay warm!
How funny you are, Martha! Does your brother still someone catching him in the act?
DeleteI can relate to some - - full trash containers, much like Joan Crawford, I HATE wire hangers, and those annoying tags on pillow towels and sheets.
ReplyDeleteIf you dislike long book chapters.......you've love Proust. Jon
Okay, you've piqued my interest!
DeleteI meant YOU'LL love Proust.....I'm writing on a cell phone.
ReplyDeleteYou do better on your cell phone than I would!
DeleteI will just say DITTO!! Great list, Myra, and I especially agree with the repeated reminder calls, texts, and emails for the same appointment! Yes! xo
ReplyDeleteSo glad to know I'm not the only one! 💛
DeleteI don't get angry but I do figure someone was raised in a barn if they don't do a wave off after being let into heavy traffic.
ReplyDeleteAnd oh the dreaded calls or texts about upcoming appointments. I am ok with one but for Pete's sake the repeated ones are horrible.
Raised in a barn - lololol! As my DIL would say, consider the source.
DeleteYoga pants and people wearing pajamas in public.
ReplyDeleteYep!
DeleteThe list of gripes are good ones, especially those dadgum tags, stickers on veg's and plastic ties on everything. Steve bought a nice pair of Wrangler socks recently. There were so many of those plastic ties keeping them "just so" that he almost had to destroy the socks to get them all off. Really, those ties are not necessary. It's not only annoying but very wasteful too and you know we're all paying for these things. That's one reason costs are so high.
ReplyDeleteAs a motorcyclist another gripe for me are those who, with no intention of turning, poke along in the left lane on an open four-lane highway. It obstructs the flow of traffic and is dangerous because we have to approach them in a blind spot to pass. There's been many deadly accidents resulting from the LLB crowd (Left Lane Bandits).
Rant over. 🤣❄️
I didn't used to pay attention to motorcyclists like I should -- but it only takes witnessing one accident. Preach it, girlfriend!
DeleteGreat examples ... thanks!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful list and each of these fit me to a T. I will add these short tops that barely cover the navel. And...people wearing their shoes in my house (especially on my new rug). Also at the grocery store when the sacker guy looks at you and with those sad eyes, says "Do you need help out with these?" What happened to the days when they just simply took your groceries out? I guess I better stop here.. lol. Wait...I need to add one more thing. When you go up to the counter to order your meal and the machine will not move until you press the "TIP" button. What? What I am tipping for? Okay...this is my list. lol.
ReplyDeleteWhaaat?! That's just wrong! I've not seen that tip thing, but nothing should surprise me anymore.
DeleteShug's comment about the tip thing made me think about going to our local post office. Everyone there is so nice except for 1 grumpy lady. I truly think she hates her job and it spills over on to us. When she is finished with the transaction she insists we hit the great job button on the credit machine before she finishes it and gives us the receipt. I don't want to get into an argument with her but.. it irks me to no end. She doesn't deserve rave reviews !! Ok rant #1 is done...
ReplyDelete#2 guys punk look with the jeans going below their "butts".
#3 the "elevator music" when put on hold because our call is so important to them.
#4 every time I finally get used to and have conquered the updates and new things on the computer ... whah-la I find I can't do what I have always done..
Oh my , my list can go on and on but I think that will do it for now.. Peeve Therapy !
Sue
Peeve Therapy ... I love that. Sounds like the name of a speakeasy, doesn't it?
DeleteThat's a great list you have. I'm sure if I think about it I could come up with several too!
ReplyDelete😊
DeleteFunny, I like your list - some I had never thought about - but bother me.
ReplyDeleteI dislike when I try to call someone - I finally get someone I can't understand - they say let me put you on hold before you can say a word - and when they come back you get disconnected!
I want the world back the way it was - lol.
Or I do nothing to my computer and when I turn it on in the morning - something has changed - who did that? "They" have more control over my computer than I have over MY computer.
Good ones! Thanks for playing along!
DeleteFun post -- thanks! ❤️
ReplyDelete🤗
DeleteWhat a great list! I found myself nodding as I read your list!!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Deleteditto on all of yours for me too. the one on top of my list is the new Apple update to my iPad that has stopped me and millions of others from using Procreate the way we know how. I am unable to do most of the things I was doing and research shows they got so many complaints they will try to bring it back. doesn't help now. updates to my phone always make me crazy.
ReplyDeleteMe, too!
DeleteI feel the same about most of your peaves . . as for me . . . a car that won't start and a toilet that won't flush.
ReplyDeleteDefinite "ughs!" ... both of them!
