..... It's been a minute! I think everyone's familiar with the game -- Joyce asks the questions and we answer in our own way on our own blogs. |
| If you're inclined, please feel free to pour a cup and sit a while. It's mighty chilly out there! Ice skating, skiing, sledding, snowshoeing, playing in the snow or a snowy walk ... which winter activities do you choose? I'd like to say ice skating ... but that was 50+ years ago. My back permitting, sledding still sounds like great fun. That's my favorite game in the Winter Olympics. Have you done any of these activities so far this winter? Only in my dreams! Everyone is posting pictures from 10 years ago on their social media sites, so let's jump on the bandwagon, too. Share one photo and one thought to go with said photo from the year 2016. (And maybe everyone isn't doing this, but many are and we're going to be part of the fun.) When we lived in Arizona, the only way to get Conecuh sausage was via (pricey) shipping. Thankfully, my Alabama kids had an "in" with Santa Claus. What's a trend you hope disappears in the new year? Restaurants/bars with URL codes v. regular menus. Just stop it! (First runner-up -- the Taylor/Travis phenom) They say there's a day for everything and January 21st proves it. National Granola Bar Day. Do you like granola bars? How about just regular granola? Do you like bars of other kinds? That's a hard 'no' to the first two. I wouldn't refuse a Kit-Kat bar, however! A frozen lake, a trickling stream, a raging river or a deep well. Which one describes something about your life right now? Let's go with a trickling stream. Make that a slow-moving stream. I'm cautiously optimistic -- not because Life's significantly improved, but (because) I keep looking for morsels of joy along the side of the road. Insert your own random thought here. Hugs, Myra |

I slipped on a bunch of fallen oak leaves and that is the closest I can get to sledding. And I love the picture you posted has Conecuh sausage in it. I do feel for anyone who has never had it. As an aside, their store on 65 in Evergreen sells hot dog size sausages. They are delicious with mustard and a little sauerkraut. It's worth a road trip!
ReplyDeleteI'm putting that on the List!
DeleteLove your random thought. And yes give me a physical menu, every time!

DeleteDear Myra...After I read your answer to the "What trend do you hope disappears".....If my mind had been clearly working, this would have been my answer too. These bar codes may work well for the younger generation, but I am not a fan. Isn't is fun to look back to the year 2016? Happy you were able to get your sausage...hey, it's the little things that are so important. I've not ever had this brand. If y'all get snow this weekend and we do too, then maybe we can pull out our sleds and meet somewhere for lunch. lol..
ReplyDeleteWouldn't that be fun?
DeleteI'd offer to make you some Conecuh, but remembered you're not so fond of meat.
Very good point at the end; "You are here".
ReplyDeleteWhy do humans think they are important? We really are insignificant in our own way and not in control of anything. There is always something that happens that we did not expect and cannot control. My dog thinks he is in control. He barks at the pigeons on the trees and they ignore him.
Let us stop barking at pigeons - my slogan for this week/year.
God bless.
That's a great slogan! Tilting at windmills, as it were.
DeleteI'm not keen on granola, Myra, and Gen Z can have their bar codes. Can I just read an actual menu? Stay warm and safe during the impending storms!
ReplyDeleteI know, right? Even my 55 y/o son once asked our server for a real menu; amused, when he said, "I'm old."
DeleteI am looking forward to watching some of the Winter Olympics. I like watching the ice skating.
ReplyDeleteGood on your kids helping getting the sausage delivered to you.
I am with you on wanting a Kit-Kat bar!
😁
Deletegimme a break gimme a break
ReplyDeletebreak me off a piece of that Kit Kat bar
Love me a KitKat Bar! Enjoyed your answers, have a great day.
Sing alongggg with me!
DeleteLove your answers. In my very younger years girlfriends and I would go to our local ice skating rink (indoor) Wasn't very good but it was fun.
ReplyDeleteNever lived in the snow and don't want to even more now at our age.
I do love watching the winter Olympics.
6-7 on Granola Bars, they're kind of like eating sawdust HaHa
Oh boy do I agree on the digital bar codes vs menus. Give me a hard copy any day.
Sue
"6-7" on Granola ...lololol. Way to go!
DeleteI wasn't any good on the ice either, but no-one could tell me I wasn't having fun.
I eat my homemade granola every single day, I used to eat granola bars but not in the last 9 years.
ReplyDeleteI love ice skating, but only to watch on TV. We just finished the last of the USA Olympics skating, about 20 hours of it and wow do we have a super great team... I will try to remember to watch for it. as for the other things in the Olympics, that a no.
I am not a cold icy weather person, give me a beach
I am with you on the Taylor thing. never seen the url since we don't eat out.
Have not heard of that kind of sausage but glad they found it for you. Bob loves Lebanon Balonga
I might have to try and watch the skating team again. I think the skaters are lovely, but after the first few contestants, I tend to nod off.
DeleteIt's good to find morsels of joy where we can. It's out there, in spite of what the news might tell us. I'm excited it's an Olympic year. Makes the month of February so much more interesting.
ReplyDeleteYes, it does!
DeleteNo one else mentioned you as a lovely redhead in 2016! Really pretty! But you are just as lovely if not lovelier with your beautiful white hair now! I've never had that kind of sausage, but it must be good if you like it so much! I've never been ice skating, having lived the majority of my life in Florida, and when we did live up north where it snowed I was too old to learn any new tricks! LOL. (And not wanting to break anything vital!) I haven't seen any URL codes for a menu yet...I hope I don't. I won't go back! As for granola, I eat an organic granola (loose, not in a bar) on my yogurt almost every night for my evening snack. If I have fresh fruit, like strawberries or blueberries, I add those to it. Makes a great snack. I enjoyed your answers! Hope you have a great rest of your week. Is that winter storm headed in your direction? Stay safe and warm!
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you so much! I prefer the hair color but can no longer afford $130/month to get that look.
DeleteHopefully, we won't get waylaid by anything more serious than a cold rain.
I love that last picture. ❤️
ReplyDeleteMe, too. Really makes you think, doesn't it?
DeleteIT
ReplyDeleteIT WORKS ... IT WORKS !!!
ReplyDeleteI have tried The Christian Lounge graphic on your side-bar and it works. It links to the website. Two Hips and a Hooray!
God bless.
Yeay!
DeleteI hope the yoga pants trend disappears. Much like hotpants of the seventies, just because you can doesn't mean you should.
ReplyDelete👍
DeleteI do miss Conecuh sausage, that was an Alabama thing, smiles. Wishing you a beautiful day, smiles
ReplyDeleteYou mean they don't sell it in Ocala?
DeleteI prefer winters in Florida, where it is 80 degrees today. I was born and raised in Ohio so I have seen plenty of snow, but I'm glad I no longer live there. My favorite winter activity is to visit Florida! Keep warm and remember Spring is coming ! No winter lasts forever! Love, ma
ReplyDeleteSo true! Remember Anita Bryant's commercials for Florida oranges?
DeleteYour right, sledding does sound like fun. That sausage was a nice gift. Yes, give me a menu and that's true about Swift and Travis. Yum on the Kit-Kat bar. Looking for those joys sounds like a good plan. I like your random thought.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Debby!
DeleteConecuh makes a good product. We buy their bacon whenever there's no "white" Wright's Bacon available. As you know, when eating carnivore one wants lots of fat. It's good for us.
ReplyDeleteWinter used to be one of my favorite times of the year but not anymore. After losing so much weight I do better in warmer climes like when I was a kid.
Wonderful photo of you from 10 years ago. I try not to look at mine because I was so heavy. Vanity thy name is woman. *giggle* ❤️🙏🏻
I hear that! (*grinning*)
DeleteI'm with you on the URL codes v. regular menus at restaurants. So annoying!
ReplyDelete👍
DeleteI've never heard of that sausage. Oh yes, on the menus...I don't want to scan a code and open it on my phone.
ReplyDelete👍
DeleteI like sledding when there is snow, I think I am in the deep well thingee. BUT I do APPRECIATE the graphic, GOOD point!
ReplyDeleteStay dry over there...
😊
DeleteOkay what is so special about Conecuh sausage? What is it? And I do love that meme. I am going to borrow it.
ReplyDeleteI'd say it's the special flavor. (I just sent you a PM).
DeleteBorrow away!
Catching up here! Loved this post. Love you!
