On a lighter note!

I thought it fun to join the Sunday Stealing folks in their quest to "C'mon, get Happy."  They found this one, designed to "inspire happy thoughts on a frigid January day."  (Obviously, temps vary based on locale, but it's a lovely sentiment.)

10 Things That Make me Happy

Since my blog's almost old enough to vote, some long-time readers already know all about my passion for good food and furry animals.

So, politics and living persons/pets aside, what else?

In no particular order, here's my "right now" list of 10.

Cold weather

Black-white photography

Butterscotch

Real leather -- the feel! ... the aroma!

Roasted espresso

Heavy wooden clothes hangers

Hunters plaid

Dandelions to wish upon

Open fire -- be it a bonfire, campfire or in the hearth

Enjoying a simple meal and Real Conversation with one or two like-minded friends

Coming up?  Let's flip the mirror!

Mother cautioned me never to say "hate"; instead, next time I'm going to share my Top 10 current pet peeves.

I hope you'll join me ... and maybe offer some of your own.

Hugs, Myra

  2. I certainly picked the best time to visit Florida. It's not cold and this weekend has had days in the mid 80's. Beautiful and sunny. Back home in Texas it is in the20's with an ice storm warning. Hopefully by the time I go back to Texas it will warm up some. Take care and stay warm! Love, ma

  3. You have a good list of favorites...I'm right up there with you on this list. And...I might be pretty close to you on your list of pet peeves. This will be fun to read. The word "Hate"....a rarely used word around here. I might dislike a lot of things, but I try my best to never use this word..and I correct my grands when they use it. Y'all stay warm and safe today Myra. Sending warm hugs to you

  4. I'm in that same "club" too about the word Hate. It's really ugly.
Love Black & White photography, butterscotch, oh yes, the smell and feel of Real Leather is wonderful. Its the same feeling I get when walking into a lumber yard or construction place. The smell of fresh cut wood is delicious to me.
Oh yes, the fragrance of a fresh cut lawn is delicious too.
Your ending thought is right on. Real conversation with a Real Friend is the very best !!!
    Good stuff Myra...

  8. I love a lot of the items you listed that you loved. I think we are pretty similar there.

Hope you are okay in this storm. We did get some ice so we are staying in!

  10. Oh, what fun things to love and enjoy. I could ditto most of those, although maybe not so much the butterscotch. It's okay, but I never have any occasion to eat it. The last one, a simple meal with like minded friends and good conversation...Oh I love that and miss it. It's been a while. Seems like we spend most of our time with family, and that's wonderful, but sometimes we just long for good stimulating conversation with our peers...I need to work on that thought. Thank you for this. Blessings to all who are in the path of the storm. Continued prayers for the aftermath.

  11. To repeat Linda above, I am NOT a fan of using the word hate also. We visited a new church today, really did enjoy it. Sherry laughed at me, there as a bowl at the entrance and I thought it was mints, it was ear plugs! So I was EXPECTING very loud music. I was pleasantly surprised; the music was a good volume and a great service.
Things that make me happy, solid, good, short sermons and OLD hymns. LOL
Enjoyed the visit as always. WE had great weather today.

    Love from over this way

  12. Too much cold weather over here right now. I agree on the coat hangers - wooden ones were real "class"! Also monochrome photographs - they remind me of the good old days. Now everything is digital. And people just photograph everything over and over again. The inventor of the camera has a lot to answer for.

    God bless, Mevely.

    1. I've only several of those hangers -- they used to be given to my parents on the few occasions they'd purchase certain articles of clothing.
