Not so long ago, we I tore the house apart looking for our dogs' portable water bowl. Each of us convinced the other had a) put it in their vehicle or b) thrown it away.
Months later when I went to retrieve my 'dress' handbag -- the one with all the pockets -- I spied it nestled inside. (Why, I've no idea.)
That's okay, last month I'd already given up finding our meat thermometer and had put another in my Amazon cart when ...
Hiding in plain sight.
Unfortunately -- like the brand new roll of weed-whacker string that disappeared last Spring -- my favorite visor has become a statistic.
Do you know how hard it is to find one of those with a high crown? (Only those with a big nose and rogue hair would understand.)
I stand in the middle of the bedroom, trying to conjure my mother's voice. The game she used to play on long road trips: "You're getting warmer/colder ... Oh now, you're hot. Hot!".
(Does anyone else remember that seek-and-find game?)
(Does anyone else remember that seek-and-find game?)
At least I'm comforted that car manufacturers "get" us!
Thought for the day.
Like my friend Shannon says, my brain's not always my friend.
That's okay, I'm glad you are!
Hugs, Myra

Why is it that things are never where we expect to find them. I put something somewhere and then I find it has moved somewhere else and we have to search the whole house for it.
ReplyDeleteAnd it's not only inanimate objects that move, like cell-phones, the TV remote control, or car keys. The other day Aunt Gertrude was sitting in front of the TV dozing off. I went to the kitchen to make a cup of tea. When I got back she had vanished. I eventually found her in the garden admiring the roses. Why can't she stay put where I left her?
It was the same when I was a child. I used to get home from school and find that my parents had moved without telling me. When we played hide and seek I used to count to 100 and then discover they had moved to another town without telling me.
God bless, Mevely. Keep smiling.
Maybe you should affix a tracking device to Aunt Gertrude ... kinda like I threaten Tom when he disappears at the grocery.
DeleteOh, Lord, Myra, this is way too true for so many of us as we are getting up there in years! You have such a great attitude about it, and I simply had to laugh at your recent "where is it" moments, because I do the same. And the car mechanic? Sometimes, they have to be translators. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteThe first time I saw that message on my car's dash, I laughed out loud. What a shame they don't add, "Or your child in the back seat."
Delete⬆️ Victor is so funny!
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain. Same thing with us. Seems there is always at least one thing we can’t find. That is why we have so many nail clippers, scissors and writing pens but never around when we need them. Oh and at Christmas it’s tape! Come January, we find the several rolls! I’m convinced we have gremlins.
Yes, that's it! Gremlins!
DeleteI am so glad I am not the only one who does this. I know I have it and put it somewhere safe - but where? I lost a great pair of glasses and a sweater. I can't remember where I put those. Anyway Myra - I am so glad that we are both normal!
ReplyDeleteOh, to think we used to laugh at my grandmother who did the same thing! Karma.
DeleteYes, we are members of that club too. 😊
ReplyDelete😉💛
DeleteI'm living in a smaller place than I used to, and since there are fewer places for things to 'hide' I thought that would reduce the number of times I had to search for them. I thought wrong :-)
ReplyDeleteSo glad to know I'm not the only one!
DeleteNow this is just too, too funny, funny BUT too true in my everyday life.
ReplyDeleteI am constantly on the prowl for something that is usually lost in plain sight.
That happens with vital paperwork that has been put in a Safe Place and items that my dear husband has "moved" to find something else..of course he will say the same for me.
Sue
Lucky for us, I don't touch anything in Tom's shop; likewise, he's not permitted to mess with my desk or files. Remember those invisible 'walls' in Les Nessman's office on WKRP? LOL!
DeleteHeck, it is so easy to misplace things. Cute post.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteHa!! My brain isn't always my friend either!! At least once a day I am trying to find something that I just saw and now can't remember where I saw it. About the time I press the Amazon order button, whatever it was, shows up right where I put it. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI suspect they belong to the same union. (lol)
DeleteI like this!!! I didn't know others had so much fun having Easter Egg hunts year round. Love it. It is amazing just how soon I miss things and I KNOW I had it HERE!!!
ReplyDeleteGood one lady, love from North CArolina...
Easter egg hunt ... I'm going to start calling it that!
DeleteI love your graph at the top of your post. That id my world too.
ReplyDeleteI have to keep reminding myself that there is no such thing as magic and items do not just disappear. Even still sometimes they stay hidden for years.
Only the shadow knows ....
DeleteYes, happens here too, sometimes if it’s something I really need I have to get the Lord's help in finding it. 😂 Take care, Sheila
