Done both the donations and working at the food bank for about 5 years. Very fulfilling. Too bad your time at the food bank was so unpleasant. I wouldn't have liked that either.

DeleteGood answers throughout, Mevely. You touched a nerve about volunteering. Why is it in a voluntary organisation there's always someone who thinks he's in charge and pushes his weight around? Whether it's the food bank as in your case, or the choir, or school committee, or whatever. That's why I gave up being a school governor. I was volunteering my time, legal and professional knowledge and experience; yet some governors thought they knew better. Which legally they didn't and soon found out.

Deletethis is easy, there are only three that I would want to do either of. READ a book but inside, donate blankets, have done that several times, no food banks, but did 3 years of homeless kitchen lunch, loved that. leaves on a hike. the rest I would do neither. I carved one pumpkin when my boys were 10 and 8, which was 50 years ago. ugh.

You have some good answers...I would prefer painting a pumpkin as well...I don't like that ooey gooey stuff on my hands either. and yes...camping in the living room is perfect. we once tried camping at the farm and came home at midnight cause the mosquitos were eating us up.
