This was supposed to be a Foodie Friday ... or at least Friday Fotos.
The next thing you know, it's Saturday. And Friday's supper wound up being a jolly bowl of popcorn.
So, I'm over here with a kettle-full of nothing particularly fascinating, ..... but y'all know that's not likely to stop me.
How about a platter of random thoughts?
So pleased to have aced my 6-month eye appointment yesterday. That is, until I had to open my mouth and asked the doc about the possibility of having a Lasik procedure. His expression looked like I'd sprouted a second head, as he walked out the door, "You know, that would cancel your implant. You could read but would need glasses for driving."
No, I didn't know. Wish someone would publish a medical primer, "?'s for Dummies."
Finally, the specialist's office called! Mind you, it took my primary's office stepping in on my behalf, but that's another story for another day. (I need to send that lady a cookie bouquet!)
I'm not thrilled at having to wait until the 25th to see him, but that's the way it goes.
Is anyone else watching The Golden Bachelor? Some of my long-time pals may remember when I floated the idea for that Bachelor spin-off back in 2012!
I hadn't really expected to be sucked in, but ya. Only two episodes have aired, but I think Gerry's the Real Deal. Sincere. Night #1, hearing his story of losing his childhood sweetheart-turned wife of what, 42 years, had me ugly crying in my Kleenex paper towel.
Realizing the holidays will be here before we know it, I've begun putting out some seasonal decor.
While I love finding and creating pretty table decor, we might use this room a dozen times a year.
If the weather continues cooling, I'm hoping we can soon throw open the sunroom doors and invite our music friends over for pulled pork, green chile cornbread and all the fixings.
Meanwhile, we'll be gathering tonight to see Frank and Cindy perform 'Boomer-coustic favorites' at Oak Tavern.
Have you smiled today?

I love your dishes and table settings, etc....all very fallish and happy!! My dining table is still littered with stuff from our trip that I can't figure out where to put away...been too busy to care. I love the pumpkin pie/cool whip photo...yep! I enjoyed all your random thoughts and interesting insights. Most of all, I enjoy YOU! I've missed communicating while away, and it may be awhile before I get caught up, but I'm trying a little at a time. Happy Saturday to you!!!
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you for saying that. You just made my day!
DeleteYour fall decor is beautiful, Myra! I've never been one to go into seasonal decorations in a big way, except for Christmas. Guess I'm to lazy to get things out and have to put them away again - lol!
ReplyDeleteIt's cold here today in GA. I imagine it's the same in Alabama???
Blessings!
I can't recall ever having decorated (besides Christmas) ... maybe on account I've never had an actual dining room before. (I really should visit there more often, lol.)
DeleteI get completely exhausted just thinking about doctors and appointments - - especially with all the stress that I'm going through now. I'm glad you finally got your doctor woes straightened out.
ReplyDeleteAutumn is already passing quickly. I like your festive fall decor!
My comments are brief because I hate typing on this cell phone.
After everything you've gone/going through, Jon, I don't doubt it. You're made of pretty strong stuff!
DeleteThanks!
Delete"And Friday's supper wound up being a jolly bowl of popcorn."
ReplyDeleteThat sounds wonderful!
Thanks, Sandi! 😋
Deletethe table looks great to me, really pretty and I like the colors. I don't see yellow napkins, I see my favorite color napkins. I am a fan of mix match and have done it all my life. I have never had REAL napkins only paper. They had a show that i loved on HGTV years ago, did not last but one season, can't remember the name, but they were remaking rooms with dollar store items. not just Dollar Tree, but Family dollar and Dollar general... it always looks wonderful to me. the last meal we had with family, there were 7 of us and I put the card table next to the glass table and put Christmas paper table cloth on both tables, 4 chairs matched 3 did not. Matching paper plates and napkins... I just found the picture today of it. coming soon. bob and i have never had anyone over for dinner that was a sit down meal. most of the time it was burgers on the grill and served buffet style... Redneck to the bone. ha ha... with my skills it is lucky we don't entertain.
ReplyDeleteI have not seen the show. The only reality shows I watch is The Voice, Americas Got Talent, Dancing with the stars.
Whoops -- I didn't mean to stick that bit about the yellow napkins in here.
DeleteIf you're 'redneck', we're in good company -- The only time we eat at the table with cloth napkins, etc. are Christmas and Easter. Tom eats off paper plates evey day. You want a napkin? -- The paper towel dispenser is right there.
We're all about comfort ... not ceremony.
PS - I hope you will tune into The Golden Bachelor and let me know what you think! Most of the women are widows and not snippy at all. (So far.) It makes me think The Golden Girls meets the Dating Game.
DeleteI really like your table set; especially with the word "grateful" on the plates. What a brilliant idea.
ReplyDeleteAutumn is slowly arriving over here; a bit late because there was a train strike and Autumn came on foot. The leaves are beginning to change colour but mostly still hanging on to the trees.
Must buy some popcorn. We haven't had them for a while. Thanx for the inspiration, Mevely.
And ... the shops are full of pumpkins.
Keep happy and smiling always. Wishing you and yours good health and God bless.
"... and Autumn came on foot." LOLOLOL!
DeleteAs ever, I appreciate your visit and kind words.
Fun decorations and a fun post, Myra. It's a tiny bit cooler here today and should be awesome tomorrow! I'm looking forward to opening windows, too. Have a blessed Sunday and week ahead!! xo
ReplyDeleteI wish I could open our windows and not worry about intruders -- both crawly and 2-legged!
Deletehahaha We loved the read and pictures. Nice to think of the seasons and be prepared. YOu are good at that. We cracked up at the pumpkin Pie, Now I could 'Eat it All gone!' as our grand daughter used to say.
ReplyDeleteSending love and good thoughts your way. Thanks for the big smile!
Sherry & jack dodging the Florida heat...
That's such a cute saying. I'm going to borrow it!
DeleteInteresting post. I don't understand what is happening with your eyes. I thought you just had cataracts removed. Hope it all works out ok. I know what you mean about food. I like everything and eat a lot, that's a problem when it comes to loosing weight but the no sugar diet I've been on took care of that. I still manage to eat a lot, but am not eating sweets. Hope you are enjoying some cool weather, we are cold here. Love, ma
ReplyDeleteYes, back in March. Now I can see distance, but still require readers for up close. Tom had Lasik with great results; guess I don't understand it all.
DeleteI love your comments about your dining room, and that last quote!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! 🤗
DeletePopcorn sounds good. Hope all goes well with your appointment. Yes I am watching the Golden Bachelor. Wasn't going to but decided to try it. Your table looks pretty along with the other decorations. Yes please, I want that pumpkin pie!!!
