Did you watch the coronation of King Charles III? Share some of your thoughts about that, or about the royal family in general.
Nuh-uh; only the excerpts.
It hurts my heart seeing all the adulation afforded Charles and the Rottweiler (Diana's term for Camilla).
What's not to love about William and Catherine, their little Wales'? Princess Charlotte poised beyond her years! I pray I'll be alive to watch when her father ascends to the throne.
I felt a bit sorry for Harry's obvious discomfort, but like the old saying goes, "He's made his own bed."

Something learned at your mother's knee?
This sounds awful, but I can't think of a thing.
Not because she didn't try, time and again; I was never interested in learning to sew, to knit. All things domestic.
Fortunately for me, she taught by example those things which matter most.
'Like mother, like daughter' ... in what way is this saying true for you?
More often than not, I find myself uttering her phrases, her prophecies.
"E'ery an angel on earth" is how my husband referred to her. I'll never measure up, but any time I catch myself about to say or do something unkind I ask myself, "What would momma do?"

DeleteI watched the entire Coronation ....and should receive an award for endurance. I was underwhelmed. Charles and the Strumpet both looked out of place wearing those corny crowns.

A box of chocolates? I'm addicted to chocolate. Stand back - - get outta my way! I'm going to devour the entire box!

DeleteI've never understood why they do road works on busy roads, streets and motorways. Why don't they do them on remote roads like in the country or far away where no one goes so they don't disturb the traffic?

DeleteI go straight to the oohey gooey chocolates which means we could share and each take the kind we like. I LOVE CHOCOLATE COVERED CHERRIE. I have eaten a whole box in a couple of hours in the past, thus the sugar addiction.
ReplyDeleteI am the total opposite of my mother, who was an angel on this earth for sure. she had to live with Daddy/Me to peas in a pod.
I did learn to snap beans, shell peas, scrape corn but I did not learn to can, I just did what she told me to and hated it. I ripped the dress in half while doing the zipper. I watched about half of the coronation. More interested in the soldiers, horses, dogs etch than the people. Harry did make the bed, now must sleep in it. I hope it doen't come back to bite him.
I saw something in an article that said H and W got in a fight over Megan and H pushed W down, who knows what goes on behind closed doors, same as other people. I do not believe in Royalty and think is malarkey but it is fun to watch.
Being who I am, my daddy's daughter, i could not really enjoy the pomp and C because of thinking how on earth they spent 125 million dollars on the event and trying to figure out why out of all the singers on this earth, they chose Katy and Lionel..
Those horses are majestic (to borrow a word)!

DeleteHi my friend! Hoping and praying you and Tom are well this Wednesday! I love all your answers here. I always love your posts. I found out today Edna (Miss Edna's Place) passed away February 2, 2023. It hurt my heart. SHe always wanted to help me with the blogbook and I never had the money to make one. So sad. Going to send a card to her family too. I pray her home is still under a family member. But I will post about her, maybe tomorrow and share the funniest story she ever told! I have been catching up with my encouragment group. Pamela had the idea to send Mother's Day cards to all who lost their mom's since 2022 Mother's Day. My friend Yvonne came to mind. Lost her dad three years ago and her mom in October. Sending 11 cards to folks gave me such a breathe of fresh air and sending my beautiful Bea a birthday wish too. She is in those double digit 90's! You know Martha Jane said she watched the coronation and it was filled with Christian ideals. Another blogger from Belgium said it was more low key then the Queen's but the Queen was not living in the turbulent times we have today. I was sad about all the horses who passed away at the derby. I am not sure what in the world was going on. I pulled out an old hate and cheered and sobbed for Cody's Wish as the back story put tears in both Avery and my eyes. It was a smaller infield race. I hope your day is heavenly and very blessed

DeleteI like that last sign. Funny. I enjoyed your answers to all. We didn't watch the coronation. We are not fans of the present regime. Yes, I'd love to be still alive when the next generation takes the throne. And yes, too bad about Harry. You are correct in your estimation. I am sure you learned a lot at your mother's knee, but you just don't realize that is where you learned it. Our mothers taught by example in so many things. And I am always realizing that the older I get the more I am like my mother, even in the things I didn't particularly like about her when I was growing up. LOL. She was wonderful, however, and always had our best interests at heart no matter how it came across to us as willful teenagers. I am very thankful for my mother. I hope you have a blessed and wonderful rest of your week and a Happy Mother's Day.

DeleteI watched part of the coronation and wish Charles and Camilla the best. Yes, the marriage between him and Diana was heartbreaking for both of them, but he’s had a rough life and I hope he and Camilla can be happy now. We’re lucky we never had to be a Royal.

DeleteYes, I was up early and watched every moment of the coronation from start to finish. I loved it all. There is something about all the pomp and circumstance that I love. I don't think the Prince of Wales will have to wait as long as his father did to become king. Hid dad is much older than the queen was when she was crowned. He was just a young boy when his mother was crowned. We never know how long someone has. All I can say is Long Live the King! Love, ma

DeleteI'm another white chocolate lover. Too bad they aren't usually in boxes here unless you specifically search for a white chocolate box and then they usually are filled with something. I don't think I really learned anything at my mother's knee either, for one thing because my father was my primary caretaker growing up.

Deletethecontemplativecat here. I enjoy chocolate a lot. Have drifted away from dark chocolate into the milk chocolate. The dark hurts my migraines, so I will stay with the milk chocolate. I feel sad, but that's all I can do.
ReplyDeleteLike mother, like daughter, except for starters in ironing -- my mother was a champ -- and knitting. I can barely pick up knitting needles and my mother knitted coats and suits. Yes, we were both so fortunate.
