Good morning friends,
I should be out helping Tom change my windshield wiper blade, but I'd rather yak with y'all for a bit.
Poor car! When I came out earlier this morning to go to Study it looked like a flock of birds had partied hearty last night. The hood, windows and both sides were covered in white you-know-what. Besides, I've a doctor appointment at 2 and don't want her thinking I don't bathe regularly. LOL!
First, I want to give props to Sandra for answering the $60,000 Question I posed last time! She asked her phone, "Why do people buy others' old photos?" and it came up with this:
https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2016/09/snapshot-collectors/501614/
Who knew there were collectors for this sort of thing? Seeing that trunk-full photos, yes. I was dismayed. Creeped out, even. It made me think of that old Robin Williams film "One Hour Photo."
Maybe, unlike his role as a mentally unbalanced photo developer, these people are just lonely. That, or one line from the article which resonated, "I was seeking out an image to reflect back a feeling I could not articulate." Thanks, Sandra!
💛
Thanks to Sue at Pear Tree Lane who posted, "Since we grow our own garlic, I learned how to ferment garlic with raw honey. With so many new viruses around, we need to protect our immune systems. Garlic and honey are two of the many foods to help."
Hey, I'm up for an experiment! I chopped and peeled and doused the cloves in the raw honey.

Happy Valentine's Day, Mevely. I'm glad we met on T'Internet.
ReplyDeleteGarlic and honey! Do you just inhale the aroma or consume some every day? Sounds like a good idea although I never thought of the combination of the two.
Glad you can still change the wore blade. On my car when the blade wore out they wanted to change the whole handle for a new one. I got someone cleverer than me to patiently take out the old rubber blade and thread in a new one.
God bless you and Tom always.
Sue writes that after 2 weeks, they take a little piece of garlic each morning to chew on. I guess the honey makes it taste sweet, not so spicy. I'm anxious to find out!
DeleteI'll try that. God bless.
DeleteYes I will be your 💘💘😍❤️
ReplyDeleteI could not beleive i had not posted about how much i love Mr clean magic erasers, so went out and searched my blog and I have a post in 2013 and 2020 here are the links, read your comment on the second post. he he he, I do not rememer doing the post and you don't remember reading it. LOL.
I love your post when your ramble on in your MEVELY way and it reminds me of the Madsnapper way
do you smell the garlic/honey and burp or do you eat it.. I can't eat garlic. it is a laxative with in 1 hour with my IBS and last for 24 hours. i do love to cooke with it but can't now. poor bob never gets it and he loves it too
Yikes, whatever's happened to my mind?! (or what's left of it, haha). Does Garlic Salt or Garlic powder have the same effect?
DeleteOh I love those magic erasers too, although I use a generic one from the Dollar General store...works just as well as far as I can tell. They are great! Not sure what you are going to do with that honey and garlic stuff when it is fermented. Are you supposed to drink it? That doesn't sound too appetizing to me. You will have to let us know how it goes down...literally. I hope you all have a wonderful Valentine's Day. Glad Tom got the bird you know what cleaned off your car. LOL.
ReplyDeleteYes, according to Sue (blogger): After 2 weeks each morning they take a little piece of the sweetened garlic to chew on. It's a natural antioxidant. Still trying to wrap my mind around 'sweetened garlic.'
DeleteI will be your Valentine!
ReplyDeleteHope your 2pm doctor appointment went well in a clean car.
I did not see that movie with Robin Williams.
Are you saying the garlic and honey smells strong? Are you going to eat it? Garlic tears my stomach up.
One more thing - you use that Mr. Clean on your plastic over your car lights and it cleans it and doesn't scratch it more?????????????
I don't know if you can find 'One Hour Photo' on line, but it was really good. I'll let y'all know how it tastes after the 2-week period. Yes, the Magic Eraser worked MAGIC on my headlamps. They'd become so discolored over the years it was hard to see at night.
DeleteThose Magic Erasers are amazing things!! The garlic and honey sounds interesting and an aroma I would love!! Happy Valentine's Day to you, dear friend!! xo
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine's Day, sweet lady!
DeleteHappy Valentine's Day! ❤️
ReplyDelete😘
DeleteHappy Valentine's Day! My husband tells the story of his uncle buying a bunch of slides for a projector at a garage sale. At their next family get together he brought out of slide projector and proceeded to show each slide and tell the story behind each of the slides (they were like vacation photos). He made the whole thing up and I guess they laughed away the whole evening. Hubby still laughs when he talks about it today. And that happened before we were together which makes it at least 35 year ago! His uncle was a real gem!
ReplyDeleteOh Cathy, that is hilarious! What a character!
DeleteHappy Valentines day to you. Wishing you a day filled with lots of love. I do like those magic erasers and need to get a new one. Wore the old one out. No birds here yet, but I do hate it when they hit the car too. I don't know how to cook without using garlic but had never heard of putting it in honey before. I do love the taste and the smell. Love, ma
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ma! We love garlic, but had never heard of this combo before either. It's supposed to be a natural antioxidant.
DeleteSorry about the birds. I will go and check that article out. That is interesting about the garlic and honey. That is interesting about your headlights and the Mr. Clean pads. Glad your vent is back on.
ReplyDeleteI love learning these sorts of things from other bloggers! Happy Valentine's Day!
DeleteThat whole garlic thing is fascinating, Myra. Danny cooks with garlic all the time, so I think we get our immunity boosted on a regular basis. I do take the supplement, Immuneti, to help with this, too. (I neglected to include that in my post about the meds I take.)
ReplyDeleteAnd the magic eraser is truly magic. We've used them for years!
Happy Valentine's Day!
P.S. - I love the new photo of Tom and you. :)
Thanks, Martha! Your Danny sounds like a God-send.
DeleteOf course I'll be your Valentine! Old pictures could be creepy if they're not family. I have enough trouble keeping up with my own. The garlic and honey thing caught my attention. I might have to give it a try, Mr D and I both love honey and garlic, just never thought of putting them together. Mr Clean, Mr Clean, you are a miracle worker!! Love his eraser. Have a great Valentine Day!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Miss Mary. I hope y'all do the same!
DeleteHappy February! Mr. Clean Magic Erasers are the best. Why didn't I grab one when I was cleaning the shower earlier today! DUH! Jeremy & phamily gave us a beautiful heart filled with yummy chocolates. We watched the boys so they could have dinner and a night in Blackhawk. Win win for us we aren;'t gamblers. We had Monster Vac clean our furnace, dryer vent, and all the heating outlets a few years ago. It was nice. I am always afraid I will see my relatives at Cracker Barrel. My dad had a magnificent portrait of his mom and her younger sister with their mom. Either my sister hid it in the attic or my brother sold it at a yard sale for pennies. I was furious. Also had two oval beveled glass portraits of dad's two brothers who passed away as little boys. My brother gave me the empty frames, I am so mad I could still spit. I am unsure where the photos went I can not imagine they were not damaged while removing them. My sister confiscated my parents marriage photo with church certificate. Now it sits in my grandmothers empty house. I am just grateful I have my grandmother S. wedding portrait. Thank goodness Auntie Ang gave it to me while she was still alive. It hangs in our bedroom next to my parents. I have read and Hannah is a health fan of honey and garlic. I found a sinus buster smoothie I am going to try. But just fresh minced garlic and citrus fruits are in it. I had the recipe, I think I deleted it argh......have a great evening.
