Good morning!
Does anyone else's mind take occasional detours ... asking questions that have little merit? I thought I'd share some of mine; perhaps you'll do the same.
Who are these travelers? Where are they going? A pilot, perhaps, headed for Montgomery ... a short-order breakfast cook ... a surgeon.
I don't know why these 'wonderings' occupy my consciousness ...but it's fun to fantasize.
Speaking of dogs ...
Those times they get to feeling 'off' -- are they (like me) concerned about their own mortality?
Does anyone really pay attention to their Followers app? Arrivals. Drops outs. I recently took a good look and realized more than a few (that I know of!) are now deceased. More I don't recognize.
Trying not to over-think it, sometimes I fret. Was it something I said?
Finally, I wonder if I'm not losing my faculties.
Perhaps I need to start listening to more audio because my mind's playing games with me.
For instance?
"High up, high on the mountain we founded our chalet." 6th grade Myra, clad in a Girl Scouts uniform. It's yesterday once more.
Another. "We're GO-ing to the hukilau, the huki-huki-huki hukilau ... everybody loves the hukilau, the huki, huki, huki, huki, hukilau." I'm pretty certain I've not heard that song since elementary school glee club. Yet here it is. For days.
Scary how sometimes I can't remember what I had for breakfast, but line-for-line I remember each one of those stinkin' lyrics. Oh they're coming to take me away, ha-ha, ho-ho!
Are we having fun yet?

Testing....
ReplyDeleteO yeah you hit a nerve (point) So many times at night after the 'trip' I think of life today and those of yesterday.
ReplyDeleteYeah funny what makes those lyrics stick but not a lately event. Now I am hearing "Amster, Amster, shhhh, shhhhh, shhhh, they all sailed out for Amsterdam.
LOL Always get a kick out of our visit to Alabama! But am so sad thinking of two other Bama's blogger gone but not forgotten, Rick and then Jean of Opp!
Yes, never forgotten. I always believed we'd meet in person someday.
DeleteIt's so nice to wonder, I do it all the time, I also enjoying traveling back down memory lane, lately I've been listening to some oldies music and loving it, my all-time favorite is Unchained Melody sung by one of the Righteous Brothers. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSue
That one's wonderful!
DeleteI think a lot myself. I also love to sit somewhere, and people watch. I always kind of make up some stories about what they might be doing.
ReplyDeleteI also get up at night. Sometimes I go right back to sleep and other times I struggle. My memory is going too - you are not alone.
People watching is great fun! I used to go to the airport on my lunch hour (before all the security) and do that.
DeleteHOLD on, let me Overthink This! No, Wait! I don't have to.
ReplyDeleteyou have described my life like you have a cam hidden in the house. the good news is?? Bob and I are both doing the same as you.
he drives me crazy singing sinatra, every word of every song he ever knew and he knows most of them. I hum and sing, things that pop in my head when I hear a word, like your title, i read it and started to sing I wonder wonder who, who wrote to book of love. OMG.
I try to water my ferns in front of the living room window every 2 to 3 days, we are in drought. I asked Bob yesterday. Did I water the plants yesterday or was it the day before? neither of us knew and still don't.
I asked him on Thursday are you going to the Y? he said no I think its Thursday I go on Friday.
I said are you sure today is thursday? my phone told us the answer.
I have noticed my comments have dropped from 16 to 17 per day, to 9 or 10. I also told bob I am concerned because I just realized 4 people are dead, I was looking at the readers list, then I found a 5th that is dead, and then I noticed in my friends on fb that 3 that I know of are dead, and yesterday a tops person called and said she and 2 others would like to meet somewhere to visit and she said did you know Helena died?
then i stared to fret and wonder if people who are looking death in the face, sing old songs and all the people they know die. then I did the math and thought even if I live to 95 that is 15 years, and when i am that old i might have to be bedrideen in a nursing home with someone wiping my butt.
rest easy sweet friend, we are all thinking the same thoughts.
I have heard a couple of others say blogging is dropping. also I noticed, that more than half the people that comment are in other countries. today there were 7 bloggers in other countries in my feedly list of 15 to read. and the 7 of them are within the last 2 years. you and I tend to blame whatever it is on ourselves. NOT TRUE! its happening to all of us....
Woulodn't Bob be great on "Name That Tune" or "Don't Forget the Lyrics"?
DeleteThank you so much for 'getting' me!
Sometimes I think I'm losing it too. But no worries...when we really lose it we probably won't know it and it'll be somebody else's worry to take care of us. lol
ReplyDeleteGood point ... I like that!
DeleteI wish I had a dollar for every time I get up in the middle of the night to visit the restroom. I'm pretty fortunate to be able to fall back asleep fairly quickly, though.
ReplyDeleteAnd I hear you on the "losing it" worry, Myra. I've been in the same situation. Knowing my father and all his siblings died of Alzheimer's doesn't do anything in the way of comfort, as you can imagine. It's one of the reasons I solve Jumble puzzles!
Have a great weekend!
I began doing that too, for exactly the same reason.
DeleteI've lost a lot of friends from dying and moving away. All we can do is make the most of what we have left. Cheerful Monk
ReplyDeleteSo true!
DeleteYes, I need to probably clean up my list of blogs that I follow, as several of our blogging friends have either quit blogging altogether, or must have died and I wasn't aware. I do wish there was a way to connect with someone on the other side of the blog name to find out what happened when someone just suddenly quits blogging. Makes me think about setting up someone to notify others when that day comes, if any of us are even still here to notice. Regarding trips in the night...I have way too many, and lately it seems that 3:00 a.m. is my wake up hour for good. After that I have a very hard time of getting back to sleep, except for right about time to wake up for the day and then I am ready to sleep! Just can't win! Songs stuck in my head? Right now I can't think of any, but I probably will at 3 a.m.. LOL. Have a good night my friend. Sleep tight, and don't let the bed bugs bite.
ReplyDeleteYou're so funny, Pam! About disappearing bloggers? I've left a note for my son to do a notification/something like that -- if he can figure a way to do a post, that is! Blog friend Jack (Ship's Log) once wrote about someone's daughter making such a post titled " xxx has left the building."
DeleteWhy do you have a bathroom at the end of Chapman Road at the junction of two busy roads? That's a long way to go in the night !!!
ReplyDeleteAs for dogs; they worry because they see the news on TV. I know ours does. They understand more than we give them credit for. Mine always smiles when I go out in the garden to clean up after him.
And it's true; we often get something in our mind that dates back many years. It's like a computer memory checking the whole hard-drive to see if there's any faulty segments on the disc. It's good you can remember things dating back years; it proves your mind is young and fit.
God bless, Mevely.
Hahahahaha! Hey, the hard-drive theory makes great sense -- best I've heard. Thank you for addressing the 'dog' question. I'm forever guilty of humanizing my pups.
DeleteI really enjoy the songs of yesterday that I learned growing up. I really prefer them more than the new ones. It's crazy how old memories stick in your head and at times I can't remember what happed yesterday. The grammys are going to be on tonight and I wonder if I'll even recognize any of the new songs. I often wonder what happened to the bloggers who no longer post. Hopefully they are well. Good thoughts today, Love ma
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ma! If you recognize any of the new songs you'll be ahead of me! Anymore, I don't even know half the artists.
DeleteI notice the followers list now and then, usually because it goes up one or down one. Most of them I don't know and most of them have never left a message so I often wonder why they signed on to follow me. Oh well. I am blessed to be able to sleep through the night without getting up to visit the bathroom but since I've been getting up at 5:30 a.m. I do wonder when people are going that early. Like you, I 'assume' they much be headed to a restaurant, the hospital, or perhaps school... This is a thought-provoking post, Myra!! xo
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Terri! xo
DeleteI'm chuckling . . .I wonder who is driving by at that time of night!!
ReplyDelete🥺
DeleteThose are interesting things to ponder. I do worry about my memory. I'm thinking I need to start doing something like crossword puzzles. My MIL has done them forever and is so great at them. Her brain is amazing.
ReplyDeleteMy mom did, too! I've recently got hooked on Wordl and Quordl.
DeleteWe play rummy together to keep the ole brain functioning. Lots of interesting ponderings. I am trying so hard to get into my blogs again. I miss everyone so much. HUGS & Much LOVE
