Friday Letters

Gonna sit right down and write myself a letter .......

Dear Dasani,

I don't want to sound like a Karen, but please.
Please bring back your old bottles.

I understand you want to be eco-friendly, but!  The plant-based material you're using crumples in my hand like a flimsy paper cup.
I don't think mine is an 'iron grip' but I always end up sloshing water all over the counter and my clothing.

Dear Pastor Janet,

I understand your and Andy's decision to sell the land next door, but it still makes me a little sad.  What a fun surprise to realize the buyers are members of our congregation!

From the original plantation owner (ca. 1830) -- who founded and built our church -- they're keeping it in Robinson Springs family!

Dear Anonymous donor,

Thank you for donating this 'card catalog' to the Thrift store  ... and fueling my addiction for index cards!

I'm gobsmacked!

Dear Chuey's Deli,

Why is it, stormy weather always makes me hungry?

Thank you for consistently serving up great food.  Cheese grits, I'm looking at you.
Yes, I enjoy a little egg with my pepper. (lol)

... Not to mention, great service!
While at the eye doctor's a little later, I opened the (e-mailed) receipt and realized it was the wrong ticket.  Almost $10 less than the cost of our meal.

When I hustled back to correct their error, she was so sweet.  "Don't worry about it, honey."  Despite my protests, "It's all taken care of."

Dear God,

Speaking of stormy weather, thank you for reminding us, the sun will come up tomorrow.

Pardon this prompt, but y'all know my mind's wonky that way!

Happy Friday!

Hugs, Myra

  1. I know that song - I remember it well.
I also have a problem with the soft plastic - yet I do understand why they do it.
You know the card catalog is something the kids of today don't have. Isn't that weird?
Love grits with pepper and butter.
How nice of you to come back to pay - and they paid it forward to you.

    1. Ya, feeling mighty fortunate! Now that song has me wanting to watch Poseidon Adventure again; I wonder if it's even available.

  2. Your letters show a lot of gratitude and that's the way to make all things better. Even if things aren't perfect there is a lot to be thankful for. You are looking at the Bright Side of life! Love, ma

    1. Sorry for the misunderstanding. No, the lot next door was the parsonage belonging to Mr. Zeigler. The church is about 2 miles down the road.

  4. Hello. I agree with you on the water bottles. When they are flimsy like that, I believe it's almost impossible to open without having a gusher all over.
How awesome that someone in the church family is buying the land.
    Love that card catalog.
Your food looks delicious and I use lots of pepper too. It helps me not to overdo the salt. Besides it's just good.
That picture of the water refection the sky is so pretty. I loved the video. I haven't heard that song in forever. Maureen McGovern has such a beautiful voice. I really enjoyed this post..

  5. It is good to be optimistic and trusting that tomorrow will be a better day. Often I find what I was worrying about never happened. Let us trust in God.

I agree with you about flimsy plastic packaging. We don't have Dasani here, but some packaging is really flimsy and not always recyclable. For example: pasta or dry rice. Two supermarkets, same product, same price and packaging. One recyclable the other not. Why is that? If one supermarket can use recyclable plastic bags why can't they all?

    I like that bacon omelette.

    God bless.

    1. I think the grocers' union must have a secret code. Recycling still remains a mystery.

  6. Is there any better comfort food than cheese grits? I don't think so, unless you count a glass of wine.
    Blessings, Myra!

    1. As far as I know, Dasani's the only one to change packaging. I've since switched brands.
