That old lady in Sean's column was right. F.U.N. may be the hardest thing I'll ever do. It's almost like 'the Universe' read my intention and said, "Let's just see about that."
Evidence last week when 13 tornados marched across Alabama.
Come Saturday, we enjoyed our postponed Christmas with Troy and Lois. FUN!
I tried my hand at making sausage bread. Have to admit, it looked good and I had FUN playing with the dough. In truth, it tasted far too dough-ey but everyone was kind enough not to say anything.
My favorite?
It certainly looked like they were having FUN .... even without benefit of hand-held electronics. Son observed, "There were stars in their eyes."
Having had a frank discussion with Pastor Janet, I've decided to continue participating in Monday morning Bible studies. Sure, I still harbor ill feelings about the (video-taped) facilitator but discovered if I'm early enough to secure a seat in the back I can surreptitiously play Wordle/Quordle while she's speaking. That's FUN, and so are the ladies.
What else? Not one but both our girls suddenly -- and days apart -- pulled up lame. Being 'helicopter' paw-rents, we wasted no time taking the first (Grace) to the vet where she was poked, prodded and x-rayed. Thankful for prescription pills that seem to be working and watching them having FUN again.
Thankful after yesterday's trip to the eye doctor in Birmingham, Tom's agreed we should look for someone else (less rude) closer to home. The first visit I thought, "Well maybe she's just having a bad day." Two times, however? "You're out!" At least we got to enjoy a great lunch, so in my book that counts as FUN.
So, they've escalated today's severe weather threat to 'red' ... I'm thankful for helmets and weather radios. But first, I have to run out for a prescription and a few groceries because I was too lazy to go last night. Thankful for a line from my daily devotional: "Some of us worry unnecessarily and so lose a lot of FUN from life. There is no need for us nervously to pace the deck if the great Pilot is at the helm."
It's a great day to have FUN!

I've heard dogs will mimick and injury of their caretakers or friends as a type of comaraderie. Maybe only one is injured?

Most of all it is a pleasure to know someone can have a frank discussion with their pastor. I wish I could say the same at this time.

Oh, thank you for your positive words! I'm really giggling about your proposed captions. Thankfully, we've dodged the worst of this afternoon's storms. The poor folks in Selma weren't so lucky; I understand there's several fatalities.

DeleteI was surprised today. With all the advance warnings of doom and gloom weather, we had about f minutes of heavy downpour, a smattering of thunder and lightning and now (about 2 pm) the sun is shining and the skies are clearing.

He was at the helm when the tree fell on that car, and at the helm when the cars flip over and people die in them, at the helm he is. That doesn't mean we can't get blown away in the wind or have our trees fall.

ReplyDeleteIt's a good decision to continue with Bible studies. I know the format can at times be dreary. I participated in a similar group at our church a couple of years back. I was one of the facilitators. The organisers insisted that in our small little groups (each group with a facilitator) we HAD to stick to his prepared script and questions and answers. This stilted the conversation. I ignored the script and ran my group my way. (My Guardian Angel was shaking his head and smiling secretly).
I really like your last quote about worrying. We worry too much, including me. Let us trust in God that He will take care of us.

I love the canvas of your parents...that is beautiful!!! A real treasure for sure. Glad the pups are back to normal. Our grandpups sure where happy to get back home to their fenced yard and their own space again. This trip was not a lot of fun for them...but the "parents" could not consider leaving them behind. I do understand that...and actually I was happy to get back to my own bed and house too. There's no place like home. Take care my friend and stay safe. And keep going to Bible Study...my one word "listen" tells me I should pay attention no matter what I might think...He may be still trying to get through to me...just a thought. Love you girlfriend.

DeleteWhat a blessing you had no damage from the storm. I'm praying you all stay safe. I saw on the news that Selma Alabama was hit yesterday by a tornado. They are definitely devastating. Glad you had your Christmas celebration and all is going well. Good luck finding a new eye doctor. Not all of them are unpleasant for sure. Fun is what we make it. Keep on trying. DeleteAMEN! I wonder if they teach bedside manners at doctors school! I agree, find another doctor. It's good you're going to continue with the ladies Bible study, sometimes we just have to edit out certain things/people that come our way. Just don't let them keep you/us from moving forward. Bad weather can be so scary, I'm so sorry for all the destruction and lives lost. Good to know you are safe and sound. I have a little old lady Chi that has arthritis in her hips. My heart goes out to her when she has a flare up, it's hard to watch her walk. But she keeps going and tries not to let it get the best of her. I love your last sentence, our Pilot is at the helm.
