Good golly, I've been remis! Not for lack of a life, but I don't think anyone wants to hear about plumbing woes. No, I'll rewind to some bright spots in our week that was.
🎃
Last Saturday, Pastor Janet and Andy invited anyone who wanted to stop by for a little get-together at their new home. He'd smoked 20+ pounds of pork butt ... and I took a bit of ribbing for filling my plate with all most of the greasy burnt/blackened ends. (I'm kicking myself for not taking pictures!)
🎃
Janet's sermon the next morning was so good and testimony by two of my favorite people brought tears to my eyes. If anyone's interested in watching it, here's the FB link.

(It's probably best to start at the 10:47 min. mark)
🎃
Following Bible study, I suggested we go have a class picture made down the street at Village Green.
.. and since I was having a relatively okay hair day, I twisted Tom's arm to go back Tuesday.
Waiting on Roadside Assistance ... not.
I'd be lying if I said I didn't want this picture to show y'all my $2 boots. (Yep, estate sale.)
🎃
Come Wednesday morning I sat for an interview at Prattville's library. I still feel pretty good about my responses ... but at the same time, a bit disengaged. The hours and salary aren't all I'd hoped for, so it's a good thing they've not called back. Right?! Sometimes you just have to listen to your gut.
🎃
Is there anything in this world more boring than shopping for faucets? At the advice of a plumber, yesterday morning we visited Lowe's because someone who lives here has to look and touch ... and doesn't comprehend when his other half says, "I don't care!"
The afternoon was saved by a stop inside Dollar Tree, where I scored the last 6 stoneware dessert plates (not pictured) which match my dinner set. (Just color me, Big Spender. lol)
🎃
I can't close without yakking about my new joy, Wordle. Yep, I finally jumped on the bandwagon ... and I'm hooked! Both on it and its companion game Spelling Bee (NYTimes.com). Are there any other players out there?
Best I stop for now and get outside to witness the most wonderful time of the year!
I hope y'all enjoy a fantastic Friday!
Hugs, Myra
I enjoyed Pastor's voice and presentation. I did not watch it all, but WE did hear and understand MOST of the stand up testimony. I have a complaint from our own church services. Anyone speaking when being televised or video'd should be standing at the mike. That is a big complaint of mine about our home church. I notice it when we are away and watch the service. Yes I was blessed by the testimony would have loved to have understood the rest. Our church has speakers 'off Camera' and for me and many they may as well not be speaking. BUT DO NOT GET ME WRONG I appreciate what I saw and heard.
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures and what a deal on boots....
Sherry and jack in Florida...
Great point, Jack! Being there, I didn't notice, but replaying it I realize you're absolutely right. Now, trying how to diplomatically bring it to Andy's attention. Ha!
DeleteYEP, I have the same problem. Bur since we are not there all the time, I just let it slide, hoping the pastor will watch and come up with a FIX., ;-)
DeletePS: I meant to say I thought we were gonna get 'GOOD GOLLY MISS MOLLY........ LOL

DeleteI did watch and liked the video and Pastor Janet's sermon. Yes, we are all a community living in relationships. We are all a gift to each other and often our very presence in someone's life, whether in actuality or on-line as we often do on the Internet, can be of great value to others.
ReplyDeleteWhen Pastor mentioned Paul and Silas in prison and the earthquake it reminded me of my studies all those years ago when Acts of The Apostles was one of the books in our syllabus.
I also liked the hymn "What a friend we have in Jesus".
Oh and one more thing your Church has in common with our Catholic Church - you pass the plate for a collection. Only we sometimes (often) do it twice in the same Mass. We once had a collection for the Bishop's Maintenance Fund; and no one had told me he was falling apart.
God bless.
Aw, thank you for telling me you made time to watch. (Now you see what I see!) It's a great feeling to worship together -- no matter the distance.
DeleteYes, I saw the whole video. Amazing how many things are similar to our Church. We too have prayers for people whose names are mentioned in church. We also recite the Creed and also the Penitential Prayer.
DeleteGod bless.
Where did October go?? It seems like I blinked and missed my favorite month! I want a rerun.
ReplyDeleteYour Village Green photos are so sweet - - and your two dollar boots are snazzy (what a great bargain!). And I like your autumn dinner set.
Hope you have a great Halloween weekend!
Thanks, Jon! Those boots were in like new condition and super comfortable; I was excited to find them.
DeleteI haven't downloaded Wordle (yet). I really don't want another obsession to struggle with! LOL Myra, I love the picture of you with your $2.00 boots! That's a nice looking group you have for Bible study too! Tom looks fabulous, if not happy to have his picture taken! I didn't know you were looking for a job. Don't take one that doesn't feel right. We need to enjoy going to work at our ages!! Happy weekend! Love ya!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Terri! I'm not actively job searching right now, but the ad piqued my interest -- if not a horse rancher, I wanted to be a librarian when I grew up.
DeleteYes, I thought I'd seen your Wordle results on FB! So far, I'm 8 for 8 -- but apprehensive the Big Fall will come, should I grow complacent. I had my hair cut yesterday and it always takes me a couple weeks to get used to it. I think I'm going to table the job search until after the holidays. Target and WM are offering super generous starting wages, but nothing part-time. Plus, do I want to deal with holiday shoppers' angst? I don't think so!
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures AND your $2 boots!
ReplyDeleteGrace & Peace,
Pam
😘
DeleteThank you for writing, and especially for the picture of you. ❤️
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you so much! 🤗
DeleteLove all the pictures and the 2 dollar boots!
ReplyDeleteI used to do Wordle until I found Quordle and now I can't go back.
I've not heard of Quordle -- but betcha that will change shortly!
Deletethis is my favorite photo of you that I have ever seen on your blog. LOVE THE BOOTS! woudl wear them if I could. your grumpy guy is so much like my grumpy guy, you will laugh when you see todays post. nuff said. noooo on plumbing woes. poor Jackie had a pipe break and they have been working for 3 days on it and the cost has now reached 9000.00 dollars. I did watch about half the video and I can see why you love pastor Janet and the church. warm and inviting and she is a good speaker.
ReplyDeleteYep, I laughed out loud!
DeleteThat's awful about Jackie. A result of the hurricane? I hope insurance will pick up most of that.
I don't play any online games, never have been interested in them. I'd rather be reading a good book. I do love your boots and pictures on the green . You have wonderful friends in your pastor and her husband. Hope you have a great weekend! Love, ma
ReplyDeleteI'm still looking for another good read, but these are entertaining (and brief) diversions. I hope your weekend's great, too!
DeleteWell, I copied the facebook site and will get to it later - I am interested.
ReplyDeleteI love Woodle too.
I am glad you didn't get the library job - I think you ought to stay home and have fun if you can.
I like that you are active in the church - I am too.
Great minds!
DeleteYou have certainly been busy. My husband would have loved to have eaten those burnt ends. Love the plates you found. I have not joined Wordle yet. I don't need another addiction.....
ReplyDeleteMark's got excellent taste!
DeleteI haven't jumped on the Wordle ship yet. Probably won't since I'm trying to limit my time online :) Yum on those burnt ends! I bet they were so tasty! Such a lovely picture of your Bible study group and Tom and then you! Love your boots! Great bargain indeed! I had thought at one time I would like to work in a library. Shelving books sounded like a fun thing to do!
ReplyDeletebetty
Thank you, Betty! Wish we could meet over a cheesecake again.
DeleteHA are husbands must be related, LOLOLOL. On the hand, he does enjoy my antiquing and junking, LOLOL. Still not quite cool enough down here in Florida to wear the type of clothing you have on, smiles.
ReplyDeleteA band of brothers, no doubt! As long as Tom's content to sit in the truck and smoke his pipe, I'm good.
DeleteGreat pictures! I play wordle and most of the others games on there, when I don’t forget…
