This was a pleasant visit. I follow Sherry here today.I love to read. I am now hooked on the e-reader, but they can be frustrating if you 'forget' or just can't figure how to manipulate them at times. BUT I miss just flipping back to check a name or situation.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you many times and today again, no SI-FI for me. Lots more could be said, this was sweet. I need to get back to some REAL writers(?). We do like Sparks for sure. Grisham was/is one of my favoites.

DeleteYou know I love reading and Nicholas Sparks and David Baldacci are two favorites of mine. I've read so many good books that one doesn't stand out over another. If a book doesn't keep my interest, I don't try to get through it, I just go on to reading a different one. I like your book choices and am always glad to learn about something new to read. DeleteGreat answers, Mevely. I too cannot read Sci Fi books. Life is confusing enough as it is without aliens from outer space confusing it even more. Right now, I am chasing a Martian hiding under the bed. Best way is to cut the legs off the bed.

I have pretty much given up on reading these days, although I did get my glasses adjusted and reading is a little better than it was, but I just can't seem to get back in the groove of reading so much again. Maybe one day it will come back. Oh, I also watched Lawrence Welk with my parents on Saturday nights. It was "required watching". LOL. And yes, I loved the Lennon Sisters. And I do hate to find spelling errors in books. I also hate to see where I have messed up in my own writings and I never catch it until AFTER I hit "publish"! So embarrassing for one who can be so critical of others! LOL. Very humbling. Have a blessed and wonderful week. I always enjoy visiting here.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, Pam ... back in 2013 I tumbled off the reading wagon and still find it hard at times to focus. Lots I've mentioned are enduring favs. Great point about 'uh-ohs' here on my blog and leaving comments. I can't tell you how many times that's happened and how foolish it makes me feel.

As I recall, you're an 'only' child, too? I think that was one reason I was drawn to the Lennons; I wanted them to adopt me. (lol)

This took some thinking I think to pull it all together (I'm still trying to work on the A-Z about me lol :) I honestly have to say I cannot to this day read a book about dogs since Koda passed. I think the longest book I read was "Gone with the Wind". I wanted to marry Rhett Butler lol. I truly believe one of the best gifts a parent can give their child is a library card and then the opportunity of going to the library often!

DeleteI feel like a stale dinosaur when it comes to modern authors. I'm still stuck in the Charles Dickens era. I applaud you for keeping up with the times.
ReplyDeleteI prefer REAL books over audible ones but -like so many of your readers - my eyes are failing as I get older. I used to read an enormous amount of fiction. Lately I prefer non-fiction - - biographies and history. I don't like sci-fi, yet I do enjoy H.G.Wells.
And I enjoy Lawrence Welk.
I don't know that 'modern authors' are so great, but I feel the need to relate to characters on some level. Actually, I wonder if I'm not too shallow to appreciate the likes of Dickens.
DeleteSome of my sweetest memories are watchin The Lawrence Welk Show with my grandparents, Myra. When I was in my twenties, I worked at an independent bookstore here in Atlanta; Lawrence Welk had just published a book, and made a surprise visit to our store. He actually gave me a peck on the cheek when I told him how much I'd loved his show. Wow!

I've never read Mr. God, This is Anna. I think it may be time to remedy that. I've always loved the Lennon Sisters, but I didn't know there was a book about them.
