... my first cup of Hot Cinnamon Sunset Tea. Heretofore, this coffee lover had never found a tea strong enough to satisfy -- but this may have changed my mind. Thank you for the mention, Jon!
Pondering
... what to serve at Thanksgiving. When I asked my favorite grill master if they were going to offer hickory smoked turkeys again, he just shook his head "no." "On account of the bird flu, my vendor tells me turkeys are going to be in short supply this year."
I wonder if that might account for the Fair selling turkey legs for $18. Each!
Good thing I'm not particularly fond of turkey ... but how to break it to the family?

We were licking the BBQ'd ribs' grease off our hands yesterday when the doorbell rang. Andy (Pastor Janet's hubby) was standing there with this. "Happy Belated birthday, Tom!"
Janet had mentioned him creating an oversized wall-hanging for their new home but I'd no idea what.
Some of y'all remember when I posted photos of the storm damage at their lot next door. Come to find out, Andy's taken his knife to the trunk, and scraped the bark to create these art pieces.
Grateful
... for medical miracles. When yesterday afternoon my phone showed "Debbie calling", my heart skipped a beat. Unless something's wrong, we don't chat but once a month on the first.
Come to find out, a couple weeks ago she suffered an attack of colitis - necessitating a trip the E.R. Long story short, while St. Anthony's was running tests, someone accidentally captured a CT image of her heart. Before she knew it, she was being transferred by ambulance to another facility in Palm Harbor where she was met by a thoracic surgeon. "You're next!"
Were it not for the accidental CT scan, she learned they might never have known fluid was building around the heart. One of the nurses even remarked, the colitis attack may have well saved her life. They're even suggesting Debbie's bout with Covid may have been a contributing factor.
I was on the fence about getting my booster, but now I'm not taking chances.

Her gentle humor and suggestions prompt me to actually put aside the cell phone I've concealed in my lap.
One phrase from Monday's video especially struck me:

ReplyDeleteRegarding your picture about opening the book at any page. I do this with "I Am With You" by John Woolley. It is a book of devotionals. Words of divine encouragement were given to John Wooley in his work as a hospital chaplain. It is surprising how often, when I have concerns or worries, the book opens at just the right page with God's encouraging words.

Wow about your friend ? Debbie and the CT scan , etc. God still works miracles and leads us to find the help we need in the most interesting and/or mysterious ways. Praying she will be fine soon. That picture about the opening the book,etc. Yes, I believe that has happened to me, but honestly at the moment I couldn't tell you when. The Bible does that to me often, like when I read a verse that I've read a hundred times before, but this time it finally makes sense or applies to me directly...yeah, That's a God moment. That picture of the wood design is amazing. What a gift!

Wow - you found the tea very quickly! Was it in a store or purchased online? I've never yet seen it in a store. I generally don't care for strong-flavored teas, but I got a positive hit from this one. In fact, I've been enjoying it every day.

Well ya, I believe there's a way out -- but we have to keep searching. I thought I'd find the tea at WM, but no. It came from Amazon -- unfortunately in a padded envelope that looked like it had been stepped on by an elephant.

DeleteThat is amazing about your friend! God is just so good to take care of his children. I love cinnamon tea, but drink another brand, Harney & Sons Hot Cinnamon Spice Tea. It's on Amazon...a bit pricy, but so worth it. Yep, I do indeed stop reading and stare into space when I read something that profound. And I agree, we are to tolerable.

DeleteSo glad you are enjoying the current Bible study book! I hadn't heard of it before. I googled it; seems interesting :) I did hear there will be a turkey shortage this Thanksgiving. Makes me wonder what they'll do at rescue missions and the like when they give away free meals. Serve chicken instead? Wow about your friend! Glad that heart condition got caught like that and she was able to undergo the surgery for it!

DeleteDeb's procedure was actually robotic (amazing!), except they had to remove a part of her breast bone to get tissue samples. Thank God, she's good as new!
I'm so happy that they caught your friend's heart problem so early! I hadn't heard about the turkey shortage, but it's been years since we had one so it doesn't really matter for us.

Deleteyes I have read lines that make me stair at the wall and also make me get up and go write them down, never to be seen again. there is a black hole that swallows things i write down, one would think a note book dedicated to 'write down" things would work, but then where would the book BE?

bob and I just got our 5th JAB of Covid Vacs. also got the flu shot. the 5th one we both had a small reaction that night, headaches and tired next day, I took to bed with a book and he watched tv. I am afraid to miss them
I'm grinning! Right in front of me, tucked in one of my desk's cubby holes is a little journal I designated for "write down" things. 6 months ago ... and the pages are still blank. Pretty sure I'm going to Walgreens tomorrow for my jab.

ReplyDeleteArtistic, as I read about the limbs and parts of the downed tree I thought of my sister Shirl, that was in her blood. She could see 'IT' in the raw, then bring it out.
ALSO yes there are writers who do that to me, and I love it and 'envy' (in a good way) that talent or inspiration.

Yes! It was 35* when I took the dogs out at 5:45. Not turning on the heat just yet, as we're supposed to warm up to the low 80's. Yes, on Methodist; and yes on the booster.

We may have to check this out in our area because our church always gives out Thanksgiving Baskets and we'll need turkeys. Thanks for the heads-up.
