Happy #8 'Gotcha Day' to our darling delinquents!
I'll never forget the day we brought you home. Daddy was over the moon; me not so much.
Only 6 months before my heart dog, Caraleigh, passed suddenly. I wasn't done grieving. Certainly, there was no room in my heart for an imposter -- never mind, two!
But just like friends predicted, daddy's depression began to go away, he began to fight that horrid cancer in earnest.
Privately I referred to you as 'the rodents.' But you knew better. Little by little the ice floe in my heart began to thaw. And when you, big girl, swallowed the tip from the door stop, I was the one who panicked, insisting daddy rush you to the vet.
It occurred to me, Wow. I love you.
Sure, it's been challenging.

Oh my! I love this post. They are so adorable and looks like they were rather mischievous too. Love them!!
ReplyDeleteMischievous they were ... my mother's hope chest still bears tooth marks. (*sigh*)
DeleteThat's so sweet! ❤️

DeleteSo very sweet!! We don't have any sweet pets, but we do have our grandpuppies, and they are very much like your cuties, except they are Pekingese. They keep our kids on their toes too. I guess Lily Grace is my pet. At least she never tears up the toilet paper or pillows! LOL.
ReplyDeleteHahahaha! ... and, no doubt, less expensive!
DeleteI did not know about you not wanting them at first. I love this post. so glad you shared it. Happy Gotch Day Dearest, Darling, Daring Delinquents... you have embedded your self in Mommies heart. and of course daddy too. who knew the innocent looks hid a past another D. Destroyers!!!
ReplyDeleteYa, I was afraid I was being disloyal to Caraleigh's memory.
DeleteAwe they are so cute and they won you heart after all!
ReplyDeleteYep. 🤗
DeleteWhat a sweet and heartwarming post! I'm not saying that to butter you up - - I really mean it. That first photo is priceless.
ReplyDeleteOur pets become part of the family, and then they become part of us - a permanent fixture in our hearts.
It ain't always easy - but it's well worth the effort.
Thank you so much!
DeleteWhat a wonderful post and great photos of your sweet dogs. So lovable. Pets soon become part of the family. Do your dogs Tweet?

DeleteEven though they started out on the "wrong paw," your little pups won both of your hearts, and it shows! Thanks for sharing your memories of their growing up with us, Myra. They are both too cute.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Tom was smitten from the first, and even tho' it took me a while longer, ya. They've got us wrapped around their little paws.
