Apologies in advance for not getting around to everyone's posts today!
When I woke to take the dogs out this morning, I discovered Tom in distress. Long story short, he's been suffering from back pain for several months -- we treat with super Tylenol and Voltaren. This morning, however, his pain levels were through the roof.
He agreed to a trip to the ER, but could barely stand and couldn't walk.
Called 9-1-1. But when the operator took our address, she (politely) informed me she was Millbrook and we live in Coosada.
'Was transferred to the Coosada sheriff who summoned an ambulance.
Long story short, everyone was super nice and VERY thorough. Given his history of lung cancer, the CAT scan was read, and read again. No cancer, yeay! A room became available late this afternoon. MRI's next. TBD
Meanwhile Tom's happily doped up on a Dilaudid drip and I'm going to fix myself a Tanqueray and tonic.

Thanks for the update, glad to hear about Troy, hope the improvement improves. BUT UGH! BAck pain. I can sure sympathize with that. Hope that also is temp and he gets back on track.

DeleteThe back pain has to be intense since he couldn't walk. Good thing you got him an ambulance ride to the hospital; I hope they find the right treatment soon.

DeleteI am glad he stayed overnight and hope he wakes today in less pain. prayers for both of you and your son. i nearly fell out of my chair at the photo and sign. at 2 am a few years ago, i heard a woman screaming. I looked out the window at the street and there was a car stopped in the street across from our house, a man was beating on the woman and chasing her, I called 911 and she said are you on the south side of the street or the north side? i said south, she said you are city limits the other side is county, I am city, will connect you with county. meanwhile he beat on her. i did not wake bob because he would have gone out and gotten in the fight. soon a city cop and a county cop appeared, and our neighbor 2 doors down on the county side, but was a city cop appeared out his front door and he got into the fray. three cops one man on drugs to get him in the car. later that week our neighbor was fired for being off duty and on the wrong side of the double yellow line. i wondered then if they could have laid him out with one leg in county and one in city to solve that problem.

DeleteOh wow, what a day you had! So thankful you were able to get him to the hospital in spite of the crazy 911 system... And so thankful they don't see any sign of cancer. Praise God. But praying they can figure out the pain and get him some relief. Praying with you. So glad Troy is getting better. That is good news too. Now, try to just relax. God's got this.

DeleteSo glad your son is starting to feel better. What a relief. So sorry though about your hubby. Hopefully all will soon be well there too. At least he is feeling no pain. Will pray they can remedy his situation and he'll soon be home again.

DeleteI'm so sorry about Tom! Hope they find the problem and give him relief quickly. Are you able to stay at the hospital or are they not allowing anyone to stay due to covid?
ReplyDeleteThey're still working on the relief part, but it's much better than yesterday. Blessed, I'm welcome to hang out in his room!
DeleteLife seems to consistently present us with one unpleasant thing after another. I'm glad your son's condition is improving - but it's horrible that Tom has wound up in the hospital.
ReplyDeleteYou'll have to learn how to make homemade wine and keep an abundant supply. Life looks more gentle when we're in the custody of inebriation (I speak from experience....)

DeleteOh dear I'm so sorry to heat about this about Tom. Hoping he's on the mend. My disease causes great pain so I understand where he's coming from. Instead of the Tanqueray, everyday I ask for a morphine drip. My hubby who has 5 disks deteriorating in his back, tells me to give Tom his best. He understands completely. Our prayers are with him and you.

DeleteOh I remember DIane that I worked with took Dialudid. It was her candy. I do not know how she worked and stood and sat upright. Prayers for Tom always and you too. Grateful you were able to get help. :-)
