G'evening friends,
Where were we, now? Oh yeah. I was fretting over what to wear to our friend's End of Summer Bash.
So, I'm learning to sniff out the 'better' estate sales. Come Friday, Tom was all, "let's go!" He got a new battery pack for his flight box and I discovered a long, like-new hankerchief skirt.
Unfortunately, there was no time to find a seamstress to take in the waist. No suitable tops or sandals.
I consulted Pastor Janet: "Just wear something fun. Shorts, jeans, even."
The band was soooo good! When she opened with Fleetwood Mac ... wow, y'all.

Reality. Janet's advice was spot-on. I went with a boho top, my nicest jeans and boots. Except the 3" heels was a Big Mistake - I was petrified I was going to do a face plant. (And no, alcohol wasn't involved!)
We sat with a nice couple, both retired from the Air Force/Army. Her: "I'm a Georgia girl, he's a Montana cowboy who met at the North Pole."

My little eBay play-project's coming along! Stunned at what seems to draw attention! For instance. I glanced in my Goodwill 'pitch it' box at the Sony Walkman. Then for giggles, I looked online and saw some are fetching as much as $100!
An assortment of souviner menus, etc. from my family's time aboard the Queen Elizabeth and Queen Mary. 24 hours later, "I release you!"
One of my only memories from those voyages is mother grabbing my arm and pulling me back, under the purple rope that separated us from First Class.
Tom asked me last night, "What are you going to do when you run out of stuff?" That boy'd better keep his shop door locked!
Oh, I'm not making the kind of money to spring for a new clothes dryer. Yep, our 3-1/2 y/o Maytag bit the dust a few days ago and the earliest we can get a service tech out is next Wednesday. So much for "Made in the USA." Wanna make a wager if parts are even available?
Oh well, I'm not having second thoughts about the paper I just put in my Amazon cart. Another simple pleasure -- premium weight junior legal tables. (Weird, but I'm addicted to heavy paper stock.)

You looked great for the party! Just like you were on a cruise...if I squint just a bit and ignore the grass in the background. lol Seriously, you did look mah-vel-ous! Sorry to hear about your dryer. Getting a repairman and/or parts is ridiculous these days. I hope you can get yours fixed.

DeleteThat wonderful pool is so large that it looks like each end is in a different Time Zone. Kudos to you for wearing three-inch heels without having a mishap.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised that your 3 1/2 y/o Maytag is kaput. That's far too young. My Amana dryer was 15 when it finally blew up (literally).
Would you believe, it restarted this morning? I'm going to call it Lazarus.

DeleteHow great is it to be able to even go to parties again, Myra! Glad you all had such a good time. Sorry to hear about the dryer, though. I'm fortunate to have a clothes line that I can use in a pinch. Loved the photo of Tom and you!

DeleteFirst things first! Tell Tom that my brother fixed his washing machine by searching for how to repair on YouTube it turned out it was a very simple part and he could do it himself. Do the search on YouTube and then you can follow directions together. I agree you did look great for the party and it looks like from all the pictures that you could have worn anything from a bathing suit to jeans and a halter top haha. I buy my tablets at Walmart and they're for for a dollar the little tiny ones that have the Rings at the top I have one in every room that's where I got my remember this things. I guess I am the opposite of a paper snob because if I can write on it I'll write on it. I'm other kinds of snobs though like I wish I didn't have to have a Samsung and could have an apple haha.

DeleteYou look so sweet for the party. I wear comfy shoes only. Skechers, CLarks, Keens, and my beloved Brooks. But Jake had a pair of cowboy boots that he didn't like the fit on. Rebekah said they were too big. HaHa my lucky day. I love those boots. My friend expecting triplets said they bought 7 pairs of cowboy boots one for each of the home schooled kiddos and one pair for here and her hubby. Leather lasts a lifetime. I love my boots. I will snap a b=photo soon. You better leave Tom';s things along girl! My hubby was putting a giant closet together for me. Cause he is a sweetheart. We could not find his electric drill so off to Harbor Freight we went for a little cheap one that got the job done. We will finish next weekend as the heat was getting to us. I did downsize 3 huge bags of giveaway from the ARC. Made me smile. More to come. HUGS and LOVE to you and Tom

DeleteGlad you went to the party. Thanks for the updates. Our Maytag went out early on but they were able to fix it. We have people out a few times. It is almost 15 years old. They do not make things like they used to and that's really sad. Enjoy the rest of your week.

DeleteYou actually still have some 3" heels???? I can't even imagine trying to walk in something like that. I'd fall flat on my face and everyone would laugh after they made sure I was still alive (at least I hope they'd do that first). You looked marvelous!! Very chic!! Sounds like a really fun party!! You are doing great with your ebay stuff. What fun! I should try that but have no idea where to start. I enjoyed this so much. Thank you for the smiles again.
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly how I felt! Those boots were so cute; should have realized I was in trouble when it took me 10 minutes to get them on, LOL. What can I say, my feet have come to love retirement.

DeleteYou look great at that end-of-summer party! My washer/dryer is over 20 years and Tom was able to keep the dryer running with one part this summer. But last week the washer died. I like my new one and have been washing a backlog all day since it arrived!
