When is the last time you experienced nostalgia?
Um, this morning?
Autumn is the backdrop for some of my happiest memories.
September 29 is National Coffee Day. Do we need this? Ha! So, are you a coffee drinker? If so, how many cups per day, and tell us how you like it. Is there a recipe you enjoy that calls for coffee as one of the ingredients?
Yessss!
I love my French Roast pods ... 2-3, basic black. Anything leftover gets put in a plastic ice cube tray -- later enjoyed with a glass of Almond milk.
I've no real recipes -- but hope someone will share theirs!
Do you find praise or criticism to be more motivating? Explain.
Uh-uh, not going there!
It's all one's manner and the tone of voice a message is conveyed.
Because I fiercely guard against complacency, I'll go with (constructive) criticism.
What's a television series you keep coming back to and re-watching?
Aside from Wednesday's 'Chicago' trilogy, I don't watch much TV.
Now if someone were to bring back shows like China Beach, LA Law or Murder: She Wrote, yep. I'd be front and center.
As the month of September draws to a close, give us three words to describe your mood.

So it's going on o'dark-thirty and I'm over here still dreaming about coffee. Have you ever tried Ree Drummond's Crazy Coffee? Initially I thought it sounded disgusting ... but curiosity won out. Even Tom sampled and pronounced it, "Not bad."
Ingredients
12 oz. strong coffee, very hot
1 T. coconut oil, unrefined
1 T cold butter, unsalted
Directions
Place all 3 ingredients in a blender and blend until emulsified, about 10-15 seconds. It will look like very creamy coffee. Pour into a mug and enjoy! (Warm for 15 sec. in the microwave after blending if you'd like it very hot; blending cools it down slightly.)

the last time for nostalgia was the arrival of a photo of my cousin and i from way back in 1949.. about praise, when someone praises me, i wonder if they mean it or they are Just Saying it to be nice. when someone criticizes me, i get angry and hurt and never forget it.. self esteem has always been an issue and that makes both of these not good for me. the coffee cubes sound delish, and i have no recipe. i did 2 days ago come home from riding the dog around, found 1/2 cup cold coffee in my cup. remembering that Linda posted on her blog she orders McDonal coffee, 1/2 coffe 1/2 hot water and adds 6 creamers and sugar, i quickly poured the cup full to top with my lacataid free milk and it was delish
ReplyDeleteWhat you said about praise is SO me. (The 'BS' detector is my super power.) Same thing about criticism! Unfortunately, I didn't know the meaning of the word until I started school. No doubt my parents loved me, but they must have thought I walked on water, because I can't recall them ever critiquing anything I did. What a rude awakening! Thankful for a few souls who've 'redirected' me gently!

ReplyDeleteCoffee? I can miss a cup and not miss it, but we drink about 3 cups each morning. For a fun time some afternoons maybe a cup outside.

DeleteTrying to keep warm here this morning so my coffee is tasting better than ever. My furnace quit working during the night and was blowing cold air when I woke up. Not a great way to start the day but still help is on the way. Thanks to our effeicent maintancence crew. Hopefully I'll soon be warm enough. Fall is a nostalgic time of year for me because September is when I got married Thankfully I have many happy memories !

DeleteI love coffee, Myra, but I don't think I want to try Pioneer Woman's recipe. However, that's such a good idea to freeze leftover coffee in ice cube trays - that would go perfectly with my afternoon iced coffee.

DeleteWe loved LA Law back in the day. I have not tried PW coffee because the butter throws me. I do like most of what she makes though so would probably like this too. But also do I really need another recipe that calls for butter? : ) Enjoy your day!

DeleteSome people even write in that tone of voice. I remember a teacher that used to look at you in that tone of voice. She looked from over her spectacles; no doubt so that she does not use up the lenses. Or perhaps she thought the lenses would diminish the laser beams from her eyes that would burn a person to a crisp.

LOL ... I can visualize that teacher's 'look'! I should mention sometime, having the opportunity to meet Michael Tucker and his (real-life) wife Jill Eikenberry at a charity golf event. So real and funny, too.
DeleteRee's crazy coffee does sound a little weird, but if you like it I know it must be good. Love your idea to freeze coffee in ice cube trays to put in almond milk, that really sounds tasty. If you want a yummy recipe that uses coffee as an ingredient try Ree's cinnamon rolls - yum!

Believe it or not, I knew it is National Coffee Day. I like coffee even though I'm a huge tea addict. One of my favorites is orange cappuccino.
Criticism? It's the one thing I absolutely cannot handle (undoubtedly thanks to my father - who literally criticized the hell out of me).
Strangely enough, I've never been able to handle praise, either - - but I'll accept it!

It's a glorious time of year. Savor it!
Yessir! I never heard the term autumnal soul, but it resonates with me, as well. Fall and Winter are the only times of year I feel really alive.

DeleteHere's a link to the coffee rub we use. Its from the Big Green Egg website, but you could easily do it on another kind of grill or in the oven. The peach glaze is good, but I normally use apricot jam instead as it's not quite so sweet.

ReplyDeleteMy SIL Zach was on a kick with the butter coffee. LOL! It was not too bad. I Like the leftover coffee ice cubes and almond milk. I Knew there were more ways to indulge in Almond Milk! :-) I have missed Hodgepodge going to try to start up again. So many fall projects to compete here. HUGS and LOVE
