Despite her saying I might expect a call last Friday, there's still no news from the dermatologist … I'm taking that as a good sign? Meanwhile, I've been applying lots (and lots) of sunflower oil.
Here, I expected to have to visit a health food shop, but the doc said, "No. You can find it in the grocery aisle with the olive oil." $3.48 for a BIG bottle, sure beats the mega bucks some folks are paying for 'miracle' wrinkle cream! Too much water's gone under the bridge, but sure wish I'd discovered it 30 years ago! (You can check out its benefits here.)

Feeling mighty thankful we bit the bullet last year and had a few large trees removed from the edge of our drive.
Woke up to this outside my window Friday morning!
Pastor Janet and Andy won't be wanting for firewood any time soon!
*
So, Tom's grandson officially graduated Marine boot camp last week. Ooo-rah!
Then, and now.
As my DIL is fond of saying, "Time is a thief."
I don't understand the military way of doing things, but they've been sent to Camp Pendleton for a few more weeks' studies. Then, Victor hopes to be assigned to Pensacola, just down the road a ways. Yep, Tom's pretty excited.
*
Speaking of 'pretty excited', I hope to find this bad boy at Target tomorrow. (Amazon and Wal-Mart are completely sold out.)
When Carol showed us her Dash pint-size ice cream maker last week I was, "Need!" "Want!"
Mind you, I've not enjoyed ice cream for nearly 3 years. I was never a big fan to begin with, so it wasn't like I'm depriving myself. Then I learned about making your own low-carb version! Since I've always struggled with portion-control, this sounds like a win-win.
*
I don't know about anyone else, but I needed to see this!
*
Talk soon! Stay safe!
Hugs, Myra

Thanks for the sunflower oil tip!! Congrats to the grandson and thank him for his service! Let us know how the ice cream turns out!
ReplyDeleteI sure will … thanks, Terri
DeleteTomorrow is my biweekly grocery shopping day, you know what I just added to my list! Not only for the wrinkles but my skin is so dry it literally gets painful. Congrats to Tom's grandson - such a cute boy and handsome young man. Thanks for that little list too! If you can get your little ice cream maker - enjoy!! Have a great week :)
ReplyDeleteI've been slathering myself every day and loving the way it makes my skin feel!
DeletePraying for yours and Tom's good health. Congratulations on the new Marine in your family.
ReplyDeleteI like the list at the end of your blog. Good advice.
God bless, Mevely.
Thank you so much, Victor. Please let me know if I can return the favor sometime!
DeleteOkay, read the bennies of SF oil, we B thinking.
ReplyDeleteBUT great, Gotta love the dude becoming a US Marine. Tis a true statement, Once a Marine always a Marine. BOOT CAMP IS TOUGH! Way to go Victor!

Sherry & jack
Thanks, Jack! Never would we ever have believed Victor would pick what I've always heard was the toughest branch of the Armed Services. I think we'll be meeting a very different young man than the one we left in Phoenix.
DeleteCongrats to the grandson!! Great career he will have. I will have to try sunflower oil. Whoever thought! Yum on the ice cream maker! Definitely a necessary purchase I do believe!
ReplyDeleteBetty
Thanks, Betty! I know … who'd have thought? I like that it absorbs so quickly.
DeleteCamp Pendleton is about 100 miles from us on Frwy, but as the crow flies? It is a great area, on the ocean. Oceanside is an entertaining town.
ReplyDeleteHeading to target soon.
How blessed you are to live in such a pretty part of the nation!
DeleteSunflower is for wrinkles? Make sure you call your doctor - don't let it go.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to you grandson and please thank him for us.
I saw the ice cream maker on Carol's post too.
Let us know if you like it.
I just left them another voice mail. (*sigh*) Have to think if the biopsy came back suspicious I'd have already heard something.
DeleteI am headed to senior shopping right now and I'm glad I read this first before I left because I'll get some sunflower all my skin is flaking off under the floor is so dry. Congratulations on the new marine and your family and I wish him all the best! Wow that is a lot of firewood.
ReplyDeleteYa. Pity's it's on Janet and Andy's land. I'm trying to get Tom to use the oil on his arms -- they're just covered with big purple spots which open and bleed at the slightest bump.
DeleteI know you're bursting with pride for Tom's grandson! What a handsome young man, and I'll bet he'll be a stellar Marine. Sunflower oil for wrinkles? Hmm. Might just have to try that out, though it may be too late for me, too - lol!
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Myra!
I've not seen any results on the mystery rash, but it feels great on my skin! Best case scenario, my wrinkles won't multiply. LOL.
DeleteCongratulations to Victor! That's a great path he's on. I've got to go check out sunflower oil now. Never heard much about it. Have a blessed day, Myra!
ReplyDeleteI hadn't either until I began Googling. Every day's a school day!
DeleteCongratulations to Victor! OORAH! Welcome to the family, young man, smiles.
ReplyDeleteHmm...I'll have to look at the sunflower oil now. Hey, love the last graphic, I know your talking to me, smiles.
Thanks, Linda! Nope, no finger pointed anyone's direction … save the 4 pointed back at moi!
DeleteCongrats to the new Marine! It's nice to see young people willing to serve our country. Nice on the firewood from your trees too. Hope you can enjoy a camp fire and toast some marshmallows. Gave up on making my own ice cream years ago but do enjoy it. I'm more in to buying it at the store. Hope you'll share your recipe. I might have to change my mind.Lately I've been enjoying some Klondike bars.
ReplyDeleteTom loves his Klondike bars, too! I'm still browsing for recipes, but will be sure and share!
DeleteThat's interesting about the Sunflower oil! Congratulations to Tom's grandson. That ice cream maker sounds awesome. They show it in stock today on Amazon. Good point on the meme. You take care and stay well too!
ReplyDeleteGo figure! Oh well, Target had 4 of those ice cream makers left and even if it's not my preferred color, one came home with me. Now my least-favorite part, reading the instructions. (LOL)
DeleteYAY for Victor! It is a great thing he will be close. I will have to check out the sunflower oil. Hmmmm....learn something new everyday. OH that ice cream maker is super cute. I will have to check it out but can't let Rebekah catch me hahahaha. My sister-in-law Lucy makes some wonderful homemade ice cream. Vanilla and peach are two of my favorites. Sigh....always praying for you and Tom and your good health. Oh trees and I Have a ten year battle in my yard argh......Have a great evening!
ReplyDeleteWhaaat? Would Rebekah steal yours … or scold you? LOLOLOL! Vanilla's my favorite, too.
DeleteThe cruel years are turning me into an Egyptian mummy. I'm wondering if sunflower oil will reverse the process.
ReplyDeleteI hadn't eaten ice cream in many years, but last summer I went wild and pigged out on it.
Homemade low-carb ice cream sounds like a good idea. Go for it!
I plan to buy ice cream on my next trip to town (or perhaps sherbet).
Thanks, Jon … wish me luck!
DeletePS - I've never known anyone before who actually LIKES sherbet.
