Thanks to the Queen of Hodgepodge (aka, Joyce) for this week's questions --
Last thing you said 'yes' to? Did you regret it?
I don't recall Tom coming out and actually asking me to clean out the gutters, but ya. No way I want him up on that ladder!
I need to dig deep down and resurrect the girl who championed rope climbing back in 7th grade.
No big deal, no contest, no dice, no hard feelings, no ifs ands or buts, no kidding, no offense, no pain no gain, no way. Choose one and tell us how it applies to your life currently.
Probably 'no big deal.' Since I've retired to the 'slow lane' there's little that gets me agitated for long.
Thursday, June 11 is National Making Life Beautiful Day. In this strange season, how are you adding beauty to your days/life?

According to an article, these 6 foods taste better in June than at any other time of the year: strawberries, asparagus, peas, peaches, beets and garlic. How many of these have you tasted so far this month? 2 - Asparagus and Garlic are staples in our kitchen. Anything on the list you'd say 'no thank you' to trying? See #6, below. Rearrange the list, starting with your favorite (1) to your least favorite (6).
(1) Asparagus, (2) Garlic, (3) Beets, (4) Peas, (5) Peaches (6) Strawberries
Describe your current mood in 3 words.
Grateful … Anxious … Hungry (always, lol)
Insert your own random thought here:
So, almost a month ago a 10" x 2" ugly rash 'suddenly' appeared on the front of my leg -- resulting in my going to an Urgent Care and getting a steroid shot. (NEVER, ever again!!!) Two days later I was able to see my primary care, who confirmed it wasn't cellulitis -- something I was hospitalized with back in '08.
She referred me to a dermatologist, so that happened this afternoon. They poked and prodded -- and seem as puzzled as me, but took a sample to be biopsied. I need to go back in 2 weeks to have stitches removed and (hopefully) get an answer. Meanwhile she wants me to start using sunflower seed oil.
Good thing I don't own any shorts! These legs probably haven't seen daylight in more than a decade. Anyway, I appreciate your good thoughts!
Have a great day … stay safe!
Hugs, Myra

I have not owned shorts for 35 years and Bob wants to know why I don't feel where them haha on him. I love peaches and strawberries best of that list but I like all of it! We have been having strawberries for months here in Florida and right now watermelons are the best I buy one a week and cut it up and keep it in the fridge because it's a light calorie hydrating snack
ReplyDeleteMy mom used to do the same thing! I think she'd have happily eaten fruit to the exclusion of every other food group.
DeleteI love garlic, too, and while I like asparagus I can't imagine ranking it above fresh strawberries. I'll bet you're the only one who will do that today!
ReplyDeleteI'll bet you're right! :)
DeleteHope they can find an answer for you. No shorts for me either! And I too ranked asparagus first - I love it!
ReplyDeleteGrowing up in northern New Mexico we used to pick it -- growing wild on the side of the highway!
DeleteI own shorts and wear them proudly, even with these varicose veins (I do take after my mother on that part). It was near 98* yesterday here, yep, in the great north. I even wear tanks, hey, I'm 53 and not dead, what can I say? (LOLOLOL)
ReplyDeleteWHAT? You don't like strawberries? Shocking! ((grin))
I sure hope the dr. can find out whats going on...I agree, House would of figured it out.
Good for you! Me, too -- on inheriting my mother's varicose veins. I remember her buying 'support' hose and even darning!
DeleteCapris have become my new shorts. Wow you chose asparagus as #1! I hope you get good news about your leg.
ReplyDeleteYep! We used to call them peddle-pushers.
Deletecurrent mood is also grateful, anxious, anticipating (a trip). I hve only eaten two of those foods, peas & garlic.
ReplyDeleteHope there is 'nothing' of consequence to the coming biopsy.
I am making the motorhome look better by waxing it and wearing my arms out. LOl As always your answers/writing is a breath of fresh air..
Sherry & jack
Another trip?! I'm excited for y'all! To tell the truth, I only like peas in soup form. Does that count?
DeleteSo shingles weren't a possibility on your leg? I hope they get it figured out and treat you. I like asparagus if it is tender and not stalky. I still wear shorts and capris. It takes me a little bit of time before I pull out the shorts, but here in Texas, it's HOT!
ReplyDeleteNope, not shingles. I should have said that. It doesn't hurt OR itch. Weird, I know.
DeleteI don't wear shorts either, Myra - you should see all those ugly spider veins on my legs - NOT! Oh, I do hope the doctors can figure out what's bothering the skin on your legs. I will pray for your healing!
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Hey, I'm right there with you on the ugly veins like a purple road map. Mine started in high school... not cool. Thank you for the prayers!
DeleteEvery year when my leg ar first exposed to a good dose of the sun, they break out so I guess I have a sun allergy . They'll be itchy until the rash dries up and then goes away. Hope your rash is as simple as something like that. I love garlic and it is definitely a staple here too. I like asparagus too but strawberries in June would be my favorite. I do wear shorts in the hot weather. I found some comfortable soft knit ones that have an elastic waist band and they help to keep me cool. I'm all about comfort these days and keep it loose and cool as much as possible. Glad heights don't bother you. I tend to get dizzy even on my stepladder. Hope you enjoy your summer.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ma! I'm no longer so comfortable about getting up, but I think that stems from a distrust of my hubby's ladder. That's what I get for all those years of having to sit through safety training. LOL!
DeleteHope you get an answer sooner than later about the rash. I'm with you. My legs rarely see the sun unless I'm in the pool during sun hours. I like your order of food; I would go the same in how you listed them. My 3 words should be "grateful, content, blessed" I won't say what I'm really feeling, LOL.
ReplyDeleteBe safe and sane!
betty
LOL … funny lady! What's weird, it's never itched. Wish you were still working for those doctors and might offer a diagnosis. (*smile*)
DeleteI regretted saying YES when I was asked: Does this dress make my backside look big?
ReplyDeletePraying for your speedy recovery.
Just picked another half kilo of strawberries from our garden.
God bless.
Yep. Honesty's not always the best policy! Thank you so much for your prayers; I'm keeping you in mine, as well.
DeleteGosh, I sure hope the rash is easily explained and obliterated! Keep us posted!! I put strawberries last too! LOL I like them once or twice during strawberry season and then I would rather have any of the other four foods. I do like them all, though! Be careful cleaning those gutters, Myra. Not an easy job for a youngster. xoxox
ReplyDeleteMe, too! I sure will, Terri. Nice, having friends I can 'unload' on. Wish I could just hire someone to come do the gutters, but Tom would just get mad and insist on doing it himself. *sigh*
DeleteEnjoyed reading your answers. Hope all is well with your rash. Take care.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Debby.
DeleteInteresting about your rash. This almost identical thing happened to my sister. The only diagnosis she got was that she was diabetic. Thankfully, this is not the case and her glucose #'s are perfect. But, still a rash that is driving her crazy. Let me know if the Sunflower oil works for you.
ReplyDeleteWow. So I Googled diabetic dermatology and several of the results came back eerily similar to what I'm experiencing. I'll be sure and update what they learn from the biopsy.
DeleteMyra, I do hope you get a good answer soon about your rash. I haven't worn shorts in years except for when there is no one who can see me. Hearing all those gutter ads on TV you would never imagine you could survive cleaning them. Glad you are okay!
ReplyDeleteFrom your lips to God's ears, Ellen! Thank you!
DeleteI hope your leg is okay - sunflower seed oil - I wonder if that has good curing properties for the skin.
ReplyDeleteI like your no big deal thinking - I wish I was more like that.
Being grateful - good spirit too!
Love, sandie
Well, they gave me a sheet all about sunflower seed oil, which I promptly misplaced. Since the only ones at Wal Mart are BIG bottles (that's where they said to get it), I'm going to be Googling all its uses.
Deletehope your leg heals soon. that sounds like a nasty rash. saying prayers.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteOh my, I have a similar situation, one on each leg but not quite as big as yours, but big. My doctor thought is was a skin infection and treated with antibiotics and a prescription cream. One has healed and the other is still hanging in there. Not worse, maybe a little better. Hope you heal quickly.
ReplyDeleteThat IS weird! Sure looking forward to getting some answers!
