Currently, it's Sunday night

Good evening!

Outside my window
Um, see this photo?
Borrowing from Rick, the air feels lickable.

I'm thankful
To have remembered what my dermatologist suggested a few years ago and keep a pot of this in the refrigerator.
Tom actually yelped when I put some on his back. Hahaha.

It's not doing anything for the rash, but it feels wonderful on my tired dry skin!

In my kitchen

Earlier today I made a big batch of caramelized onions in the instaPot and froze a few ziplock baggies-full.  Good thing Tom and I both love onions!  In my opinion, it's great for sauteing veggies -- not so much roasts.

I'm loving

Feta cheese crumbles on my salad!  Other than on a Greek salad, that's not something I'd ever considered.  (Thanks for the tip, Ma!)

Good idea!
Chef salad kabob ... keto friendly!

I'm just suspect how they keep the hard-boiled egg from splitting in pieces?

Oh my goodness!
To quote Tom ...
the air-conditioning tech needs to focus on what he's being paid to do and leave plumbing for someone else!

This, after he inserted a coupling in the drain line to muffle the drip-drip-drip condensate I'd been hearing from the HVAC.

Not good when, a week later I'm walking down the hall and feel a squish beneath my bare feet!  At first, I blamed little Grace for making an epic accident.  Then, we feared one of the monster tree roots around the house might have breached the foundation.

Actually, it was a relief to discover it was the techie's 'uh-oh.' Tom was able to get to the hardware store for new pvc and fixed everything before the drywall became any wetter.  The carpet's a train wreck anyway.  I'm thinking we may have to bite the bullet and just replace the rest of the carpet.

Makes me smile

* * *

So, that's what's going on in my neck of the woods.  I'm looking forward to reading your updates in the morning!

Sweet dreams ... stay safe!

Hugs, Myra

  1. Sure glad Tom was able to fix the leak without too much trouble! And if you get new carpet...

Caramelized onions... yum! I agree that those hard-boiled eggs would crumble, for sure.

    2. If we 'just do it', we'll continue the 'distressed barn-wood' ceramic tile from the family room … no more carpet, except in the bedrooms. So much easier to keep clean!

  2. I replaced a carpet recently and the whole room looks more light. Like you say, tile is easier to keep clean, I only have carpet in 2 bedrooms and the living room. Ruth Roomba vacuums them for me. I like your meal on skewers idea.

  3. I never heard of a chef salad kabob, but I bet they are good. They sure look it.
What a mess with the uh-oh., glad it was no worse, that is for sure. BUT I do love good caramelized onions, I have never been able to do it well like some restaurants and grills.
We did smile at Tom and the 'COLD' cream. LOL
    Love from Sherry & jack

    1. All I did was melt 2 Tablespoons of butter and 3 TBSP. olive oil and 4 lbs. of sliced onions in the InstaPot and turned it on for 25 minutes. Easy-peasy!

  4. Lickable air? Felt that way here this morning - the humidity was so thick, you could cut it with a knife. So glad Tom could fix the leak problem, too. What a pain! No one wants to wake up to a mess. We just discovered today that our guest bathroom has a crack in the tub. >sigh< We are going to have that all redone and soon. $$$
    Blessings, Myra!

  5. My mom used to keep a jar of Noxzema in the refrigerator, and I remember it being rather potent stuff. I'm wondering if they still make it?

I never had caramelized onions, but I use a lot of onions in my cooking. I put them in nearly everything.
The salad kabob looks pretty good, but I'd probably omit the egg.

Nothing worse than a squishy carpet under bare feet. Some of those tech "experts" aren't as brilliant as they think they are.
Could you use a hair dryer to dry it?

    1. I've not thought about Noxzema in like 100 years. We've had a small fan blowing since last night. While the carpet needs pulled, etc., in this age of C19, I'd rather it be done later rather than sooner.

  6. I need to put some body lotion in the refrigerator. Hadn't thought of that and since our humid weather has arrived I'm going to enjoy it.

  7. I have yet to use my Instant Pot and I've had it for over 6 months LOL. Good you are finding ways to use yours!! Glad Tom good fix what needed to be fixed. We are having a really pleasant summer here so far LOL with weather. Tomorrow and the next few days are supposed to be only in the 90s. Enjoying it and no humidity!

    1. Wow on those temps! My favorite feature of the 'pot' is the saute function … particularly not having to turn on the stove!

  8. I was wondering about the eggs too. Maybe they're plastic!

"Actually, it was a relief to discover it was the techie's 'uh-oh.' " Could he not get to the toilet on time!

I do love Feta cheese. We have some in the fridge right now ... see you!

    God bless, Mevely.

    1. OK, I had to read that twice … and burst out laughing! Sadly, Food Outlet was sold out of feta this morning, so I grabbed the bleu cheese crumbles. Yum!

  9. Yep, I've had the barefoot squish before too, not good! Glad Tom was able to fix it before it became any worse. We definitely have lickable air here too. I love caramelized onions, I just fry up a bunch in the frying pan and then freeze. If you lay the baggies flat and press the onions into a thin layer you can just break off what you need for recipes. Love the lotion in the fridge idea too! Have a great day :)

  10. Nada going on here...so glad Tom was able to fix the issue. I love caramelized onions. I also keep lotion in the fridge, I swear Myra, we have to be related, grin.

    Have a great day friend!

  11. Yay for the home repair by Tom! And the keto thing on the stick looks really good. I love feta cheese on any salad but Bob won't eat it so I'd rarely buy it because it's expensive for just one person to eat it and how much could I eat! I love just about any kind of cheese! I like that friend comment yesterday I text my friend who just had her breast removed from breast cancer and asked if she would like to talk I said to you feel like talkin if you do give me a call if not I understand. The answer was I don't really feel like talking I hope you understand and I answered back if I hadn't understood I wouldn't have asked you I would have just called

  12. Oh my, so glad Tom could fix that pipe and not have to call a plumber. The heat ad humidity affect me a lot so I could on the a/c to keep comfortable. Thankfully no problems here. The thing is I do love all the sunshine and it looks like we're going to have a whole week of it here. Not sure how much I'll get out but it sure looks pretty. Hope all goes well there and no more incidents. Have a great week!

    1. Our A/C tech just left after replacing the sensor board … so thankful it's still under warranty. I don't know how our ancestors could stand summers w/o air conditioning!

  14. We used to say in Illinois that the air was so heavy that it could be wrung out to make ice cubes.

Glad the water wasn't from a busted pipe! Push for new carpet or tile. Mold is not a good thing.

  15. Third time is a charm! I Have tried to comment and before I hit send it goes away. So I will make this short and sweet. We do not get the high humidity. But the heat is killer. I am going to get a popsicle out of the freezer. My house at least is cool. Ah.....We still use Noxzema. It kicks the pain and redness to the curb. Nick was burnt like a lobster. But he used some product his gf recommended. To each their own. We have trees, annoying. But cutting some branches for now. Little by little. I am glad Tom is so handy with household projects and problems. You two take care and stay cool. HUGS xo
