Let's talk about film scores/songs. What is the first one that you thought about when you saw today's subject?
The Feather theme (Forrest Gump).
Every stinkin' time! No matter how often I hear those first few notes, my nose begins to tingle and my eyes get wet.
Do you remember the first movie you ever saw on the 'big screen'? Would you tell us about it?
Bambi. We kindergarten pupils were given brightly-colored deer costumes (think oversize trash bags), then we marched one-by-one to the nearby theater.
Traumatized! All these years since, I've harbored an unreasonable aversion to hunting.

Aside from Madame X and Schindler's List, I can't recall ever having watched any b/w films.

I'm stumped!
After a couple of issues with his ladder, Tom succeeded in hanging the flag Troy and Lois gave him for Christmas. Yay!
It looks as if the insurance company is going to reimburse us for the time away at the lake, after all! Double yay!
It's been almost 7 months now since I stopped coloring my hair. You'd think I've grown used to seeing my reflection, but no.
Forget 'the doberman', now I'm thinking, Carol Channing. I don't use cosmetics so much anymore, but suspect my face could stand a little Indian Earth. Do they even sell that anymore?

Oh Tom Hanks! Why didn't I say that. I love Tom Hanks in almost anything I've seen him in. I low-light my hair once every 3-4 months when I get around to doing it. These days, people can do whatever they want to with their hair. I like that. So far no one has pointed and laughed. :-)

ReplyDeleteIronically, I've been wanting to do some movie posts for a long time but -unfortunately - I keep getting sidetracked with problem posts.
First film score that comes to mind is Midnight Express by Giorgio Moroder.

Some of the greatest films ever made are in B&W.

ReplyDeleteI started going to movies when I was about 10, my cousin and I went on the city bus and watched double features with 3 cartoons. I don't remember the first movie. I do remember I hated West Side Story when I let my best friend talk me into it at age 15. I don't really hear the sound track or remember it until someone plays it , like you did and I recognize it. Go Ahead, Make My Day is the only quote I know. you will know that one. I don't watch old black and whites, I see pieces of then while channel surfing, but the years of movies I know most of the were black and white. a memory just came up of Thunder Road, during teen years, it was black and white, in the 50's
I miss those pre-show cartoons. We don't go to movies much anymore, but they've all been replaced with commercials. WSS wasn't particularly memorable, but I loved Natalie Wood.

DeleteI do like your hair. Movies and scores I completely draw a blank, but like Victor, I must go with Clint Eastwood. Especially his spaghetti westerns. I have to say I am a John Wayne fan and all his westerns. I am also a western nut.

DeleteI do like your hair! Does it feel healthier since you aren't coloring it? Yea for the insurance company covering your stay!! A double win, a good time on someone else's money. My first movie was Cinderella, daughter's first movie was Pinocchio, son's was Beauty and the Beast.

DeleteAs a teen I spent many Saturday afternoons watching movies. We had 3 of them at the time to choose from and there was always something good to see. Back then admission was like a quarter. I really don't remember the first I saw, but it might have been at a drive in theater, now that was truly a big screen! I too love the Carol Channing effect you have going on. I stopped coloring my hair when I was 50 and am still amazed when I look in the mirror. Ha!

DeleteThe first thing that came to my mind was the theme from "Gone With the Wind." I know that dates me, but I love the music to that movie. Not to name drop, but Meryl Streep and I were at Dartmouth at the same time in 1970. I didn't know her, but she was already acting. She also was stunning and had terrific poise and presence. I've really enjoyed following her career.
