Despite forecasters' predictions, this weekend's severe weather missed our home. As early as Tuesday, newscasts warned of the potential for tornado activity Sunday morning; church leaders even considered postponing services.

Saturday night -- feeling curiously calm -- I prepped our safe room, poured a generous glass of wine and prepared to camp out in front of the television all night.
In spite of our weather radio going off every hour, I was able to get a little sleep ... but these olden hips sure complained. (*smile*)
While we were sure blessed .... if you're so inclined, please join me in lifting yesterday' victims in prayer?
Fully cooked, they're perfect for popping in my fanny pack before setting out for the park.
The ProPresenter software doesn't seem terribly daunting, and the iMac not as fearsome as I imagined. (It's wee keyboard -- which looks like it was designed for 'Barbi's dream cottage' -- is a whole 'nother story.) We shall overcome!

The other day I walked across the little footbridge and returned with a spanking new library card and two audio books.
I know, I know. I've talked about reading-by-ear but never followed through for one distraction or another.
Walking solo, this seems to make the time pass more easily.
But because I'm unable to think in stereo, I miss picking up my e-reader at day's end.
Do you read more than one book at a time?

Maytag, Whirlpool quality control.
In the last year, we've purchased a new washer, dryer and oven. Middle-of-the-road units, I liked that each bore a "Made in the USA" decal ... score one for the home team!
Well, no. I've never owned more problematic units than these 3.
See this oven door? The first service man allowed this is so common-place, replacement parts are on back-order! That was almost 6 weeks ago and guess what? No door. Poor Tom was on the phone again this morning, rattling someone's cage.

DeleteScary stuff, being in tornado alley. Prayers lifted for all who lost so much. I will have to look for those sausages. Did you get them at Publix? Love the cat drinking from the faucet and of course the puppy with the Easter bunny! Love & hugs!

DeleteMy girl thinks I am weird. I love storms. Not damage mind you, but the ones that put some folk over the edge. Yep I missed the second WAVE of storms that were supposed to come this way.
ReplyDeleteI am nopt a fan of guarantees., mainly because it drives me up a wall to handle the problems that happen on property supposedly covered by a 'safety net'. I tell most companies if uyou warrantee isn't too good, you are probalby the wrong account.
An interesting take on guarantees/warranties, etc. I've begun to suspect manufacturers feel compelled to cut corners to save costs, then pad their pockets further by selling extended warranties.
DeleteSuch a hassle dealing with companies to get things right!! I do have to say though that we had trouble with the ceiling fan with the rental house where son/family live. I called it into our home warranty company, got a repair person there the next day (on time) and he was gone 20 minutes later with the fix done (needed a new switch) Both son and me were impressed after the water heater ordeal!

I just read one book at a time and I'm not sure I could enjoy it on an audio book. I tend to fall asleep if someone is reading to me (and that might not be pretty as I do most of my reading on the treadmill :)

Deletemost important comment first. LOVE Molly Jane and Annie Kay... you knew I would! oh my on the new appliances, I don't think made in USA makes any difference these days. I only read one book at a time and take it with me to doctor office or anywhere I may have to wait. have e reader will travel... I can't listen to audio books, just can't concentrate. and I find myself listenting to how they read and thinking I could do better. that is why I don't go to retreats, I have trouble sitting and LISTENING to speakers. I zone out. so happy you are safe and sound. when are they starting your underground bunker?
ReplyDeleteCome to think of it, a bunker might be cheaper than the storm shelter! I agree, "Made in the USA" isn't the strong point I believed it to be.

DeleteYes, I do often read more than one book at a time. Very often I read one during the day, when taking a break, and another one at night before I go to bed. I haven't been to the library in several years, but really should go back again. We had our first tornado alert this past Sunday. Thankfully all we got was a lot of rain, but to the south and east of us they weren't quite as lucky. I heard on the news this morning that some are still without power from the winds taking down electric lines. I'll be glad when the weather settles down. Right now it's a roller coaster ride. So sorry about your appliances. No good at all not to have an oven to use. I've Whirlpool and Maytag before with little complaint and long years of service. Right now my refrigerator is a Whirlpool. Glad you are overcoming and not giving up on that computer and the new program. When it comes to computers, Macs are the best in my opinion.

Oh, I should have been more specific. The oven door closes, but the chrome face is peeling off. For some reason, they tell us the entire door needs replaced. Wish I could afford a MAC computer!
