What are your plans for this Saturday morning?

Ha! I'm doing my best to diddle-dawdle.
Unfortunately, the grass and weeds aren't going away on their own, and more thunderstorms are predicted tomorrow.

In this song, a man sings of going away for the day with a friend.  Where did you go on your last day trip?

It's only a 10-minute drive, but I enjoyed taking Debbie to Jackson Lake Island (site of the movie Big Fish).   So many new babies wandering, begging.  Aren't they adorable?

The lyrics say, "we will remember, long after Saturday's gone."  What's something you've done recently that you predict you'll remember for a long time to come?

I shouldn't beat myself up.  Really, I shouldn't.

I'd about given up looking for a part-time job.  But a few days ago I spotted something intriguing.  In short order, I was invited to participate in an automated phone interview.  Easy-peasy, right?  Noooo.  This blogger's the kind who has to write down and rehearse what's she's going to leave on a voice-mail.  Abysmal, party of one.  Oh for the days when you spoke with a real person, not a robot! 

This song was the Oscar-nominated theme from the movie The Sterile Cuckoo.  What's the first movie song that pops into your head?

 How about "Georgy Girl" … or "Thoroughly Modern Millie"?  Then, there's the score from Carousel ... or Les Miz ... or State Fair?  

'Wonder if my passion for old show tunes doesn't border on a sickness?  (*smile*)

In the movie, Liza Minnelli played Mary Ann Adams, an eccentric girl everyone called "Pookie."  Have you ever been known by a memorable nickname?  Who gave it to you?

My parents dubbed me a perfectly ordinary - but infuriating - nickname whenever I'd pitch a fit.  Because it's the answer to an internet security question, nope; I'm not going to fall for that.

Today's group began their career as The Grads.  Recording artist/producer Herb Alpert liked their sound but hated their name.  Alpert picked 'sandpiper' at random out of the dictionary.  Do you still have and use a bound dictionary?  Or, do you rely on the internet for word searches and spelling?

I consult Google or Alexa.

The biggest news story of 1969, the year this song was popular, was one of the biggest news stories of all time.  On July 20, Neil Armstrong stepped foot on the moon.  Other than the moon landing, what's the most consequential event that you've seen in your lifetime?  How do you feel it changed America and the world?

I'll never, ever forget 9/11.  While I don't won't live in fear, neither do I feel totally secure; certainly not complacent.  Sorry, I'm not sufficiently gifted to try and address its effects on others.

1969 was a big year for music festivals, with Atlanta, Toronto and Woodstock all holding famous fests.  Have you visited Georgia, Ontario and New York (state)?

Yes, all three.  (But no festivals.)

Random question -- According to some plant enthusiasts, house plants do better when they're spoken to.  Do you talk to your plants?

I've only one remaining ... desperately clinging to life.  What do you suggest?
