National Oreo Day!

Are you able to pass by a plate of cookies and not take one?  Or, are you a bit of a 'cookie monster'?

Unless I'm starving-stressed, thanks.  I'll walk on by..... probably in search of something salty.

Tell us about your favorite cookie.  Have your tastes changed since you were a kid?

I could go for a 'not quite done' Macadamia White Chocolate!  I can't recall any childhood favorites.

Inquiring minds want to know if you are a dunker.  If so, do you dunk in milk, coffee or tea?

A dunker?  Unless it's a French Dip sandwich, no.  Not any more.  But one of my fondest memories is sitting at the kitchen table with my dad, dunking cookies in his coffee.  

Good grief!  They were hard as rocks; and aside from the aniseed, not especially tasty.  I think they may have been Springerle -- but these had a shiny white, sour icing.  Does that ring any bells to anyone?

It is that time of year and they are selling them on every corner and in front of every store.  Do you buy Girl Scout cookies, and if you do, which is your favorite?

Unless I know someone whose child/grand is a Scout, no.  I hate to disappoint a child, but neither of us need any more sweets.  Plus, they've become pretty expensive!

Please tell us something random about your week!

Well, backing up a few days, we enjoyed a great dinner at Longhorn!   Every little thing was delicious.  The 'birthday boy' had rib-eye and me, my customary salmon.  The parmesan creamed spinach was to die for!  I think we've a new favorite restaurant!

As many of y'all know, we dodged another bullet Sunday afternoon.  What's that I wrote Saturday about knowing the score to Carousel?  Like the song says, March definitely came in like a lion.  An angry lion.

Our weather forecasters were predicting ugly weather -- but the morning was sunny so I decided to attend church.  Well, not two hours later one of my 'church lady' friends was posting on Facebook about tornado warnings.  Sally wrote, "We're surrounded!"  

Sure enough.  The TV was advising folks in towns all around us to seek shelter.  But nothing for Coosada.  Still, I engaged the weather radio and prepped our safe room.   Fortunately for us, the monster skipped right over us … but as everyone knows by now, it hit 60 miles east with devastating effects:  23 confirmed deaths, untold losses.  Heartbreaking.  

You know, I like to close my posts with 'be safe' … but how can anyone really prepare for such a thing.  We're not guaranteed a rose garden, that's for sure.  Maybe I'll have that cookie after all.
