Good morning! My name is Myra and I'm a sucker for gadgets. You know, those things that spin and whirl and guarantee to enrich my otherwise ordinary life.
It's no secret, I enjoy eggs … (likely) more than most. But, I'm a total FAILURE when it comes to hard-boiling and peeling them all pretty-like.
Enter Egglettes! Despite the poor reviews, I wanted to believe.
… but soon realized the naysayers were right. Those adorable silicone cups bobbed merrily for approximate 2.5 seconds before toppling sideways. Upside down. Every stinkin' time.
Unwilling to cry "uncle" I improved.
Not bad
Better
Great fun squeeeeezing
… and pop!
(And nope, I wasn't paid or prompted by any man, woman or child to write this review.)

So, the other day Tom asked if I'd like to take a ride. Unbeknownst to me, we're not even 7 miles away from Jackson Lake Island ...
… the site where Big Fish was filmed.
Shooting blind on account of the mid-day sun.
Isn't Ollie adorable? He and his pals are free to roam the island.
Our Pastor was showing me her family's photos taken at Spectre Jackson Lake last Thanksgiving, so yes ... of course! I want to coax my 'kids' to do the same.

I think many of you know my blog pal, Carol - aka, Buttercup. Did you know, she's another blog? Before any more hours elapse, please check out Coffee Light and Mysteries Noir -- where she shares thoughtful and entertaining reviews.
Easy peasy, y'all! Just stop over and leave a comment … and be entered for a give-away.
Well, that's all for now! Have yourselves a safe and happy holiday weekend!
Hugs,
Myra

I always go through slide show of photos first before reading, I had a fit of reall giggles at the first four photos. still grinning in fact. and the goat I fell in love with. it was fun trying to figure out where you were with the house and church. I love buildigs like that and would be tempted to go inside even if unsafe... what a great place to visit and so close to home. I have not heard of Big Fish or Spectre or Jackson Lake. but now I have... thanks for the smiles
ReplyDeleteI was wishing you could be there with your good camera and editing expertise!
Deletethe trees, the trees, I forgot to comment on the trees holding hands. I LOVE IT LOVE IT
ReplyDeleteYou know, I didn't even notice them 'holding hands'!
DeleteWhat fun you've been having ! I have followed Buttercups blog for many years now. Hope you have a fantastic Friday !
ReplyDeleteYa, I played with my food as a kid … and still do! LOL. Happy Friday, Pam!
DeleteI too love EGGS, in about every shape and size. I was proud of you figuring how to keep the 'bobbing corks' upright and afloat. They sure looked good!
ReplyDeleteLove you lady always enjoy the visit. The pictures are great.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! :)))
DeleteWell even though you had issues it looks like you got the egg thingy to work. The eggs look yummy. Glad you got away for the day. Looks like a nice stop to visit. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't going down without a fight … lol. Hope your weekend is lovely, as well!
DeleteI wondered how those egg contraptions worked. And now I know!! I think I will just stick with the old fashioned way. LOL! Glad you are enjoying your new 'neck of the woods.'
ReplyDeleteI'd practically do anything to keep from having to peel another hard-boiled egg!
DeleteThis is just so funny but I have the pictures tsken, just never wrote a post, about Egglettes. Ours behave though and srand upright when cooking. We even made omelette ones using Egg Beaters, ham and cheese. The secret to hard boiled eggs the ood fashion way is rinsing 5hem a long time under cold water.
ReplyDeleteBetty
Really? Did you turn down the stove-top to keep the water from roiling? Using them for baby omelets is a great idea!
DeleteI need to see that movie now! How fun! One of my favorites "Doc Hollywood" was filmed in Micanopy, which is about 90 minutes north of here. I keep saying we need to do a road trip there. Those egglette things did not intrigue me and I'm glad they didn't! I can hard-boil eggs pretty well... and Publix carries eggs already boiled and ready to go! Hugs, Myra! Happy weekend & September!
ReplyDeleteWould you believe, we've never seen it either? Tom signed up for Netflix yesterday - but they quit offering it. I didn't know that about Publix … LOVE Publix!
DeleteI wondered about those egglette thingies when I saw them advertised on TV, and now I know! I'm glad you figured out how to make them work for you, but I hard cook half a dozen eggs or so just about every week, and peeling them has never been a problem, so I think I'll stick with doing it the old-fashioned way. (No surprise there!)
ReplyDeleteI never saw that movie, but Jackson Lake sure looks like a neat place to visit.
Take care, and have a super weekend!
Thanks, Susan! Tom is usually successful, but I think I've a peeling deficiency. Hope your weekend is super, too!
Deletecongratulations on the eggs. the lake looks like alot of fun. ollie is precious.
ReplyDeleteIsn't he, tho? I wanted to whisk him home with me! Hope you're enjoying a great weekend!
DeleteNot seen the Egglettes things here in the UK. Over here, our chickens lay eggs already hard boiled. We feed them chocolate pellets for our Easter Eggs. At Christmas they have a little difficulty laying Santas and Reindeers. Especially the Reindeers.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Oh! Ouch!!! Bahahaha!
DeleteGlad the Egglettes worked for you, Myra. We finally discovered that if you drop an egg in already boiling water and let it cook for 15 minutes, it comes out flawlessly every time.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Thank you, Martha Jane!
DeleteI loved that movie. We may even have a copy. I think I'll dig it out and watch it again.
