The song tells us that Fran once worked in a bridal shop. Have you ever worked in a retail setting?
No ... not yet.
The kids in the Sheffield household appreciate their nanny's "joie de vivre," which is defined as "exuberant enjoyment of life." Are you feeling joie de vivre this morning?

My back's been acting up again, but I'm content.
The Nanny is the colorful one, the one who wears red when everyone else wears tan. What color do you think you look best in?

The TV show, The Nanny, was the brainchild of actress Fran Drescher. She got the idea while visiting her an old friend in London. Her friend's pre-teen daughter enjoyed having Fran as a confidante and shopping buddy. Do you enjoy shopping as a leisure activity? Or would you prefer to just dash into a store, grab what you need and get out and go home?
With the exception of Hallmark stores, I was never a fan of shopping 'just because.' (Man, you practically had to pry me out those shops with a crow bar!)
Groceries aside, I prefer shopping online.
The friend Fran was visiting in London was Twiggy, who was the world's most famous model in the 1960's. Name another famous model.

The Nanny: The Complete Series is available on DVD on Amazon. It consists of 19 discs and takes 55 hours to watch, start to finish.

The Nanny theme was sung by Liz Callaway. Her father, the late John Callaway, was a long-time Chicago newscaster. Have you, or has a loved one even been on TV?

I used to like The Nanny, but have found that her voice grates on me these days...19 discs and 55 hours of her would definitely drive me to beg someone to "kill me now." LOL
ReplyDeleteLove that last quote! It's true, isn't it? We spend so much time trying to be who everyone else wants us to be (or who we think they want us to be) before we get old enough and wise enough to just be ourselves.

I really never watched the Nanny but think this is a fun theme to follow. I love some of the theme songs some of the sitcoms have. I look best in red and never really looked good at all in black until my hair turned white. Hope your back is feeling better too and wish you a happy Saturday!

I could not stand her voice, but I loved the show and never missed it. Now I could not watch it, but back then I did. I have morphed into a different person in the past 34 years. very different.
ReplyDeleteI looked best in black and everything I own has it in it or with it. I do look good in red but it is OUT right now. I do have one outfit without black. its new and I forgot it. the one I had on when I met you. I am down to earth .. I don't know any models, never watched them to no their names. I thought Twiggy was horribly thin and not model material. a few weeks ago we binge watched Bosch, on Prime TV... ditto on your answer to shopping... I can add to your comment about your taste I shopping and say I try to never ever never take Bob shopping with me.
I *almost* picked up the Hollywood nanny book at our library's used-book sale. But I simply had too much to carry! (<<<I'm a big supporter of the sale.)

Your answers are delightful (as always) but I admittedly never liked "The Nanny" or Fran Whats-Her-Name. Watching 55 hours of that show would be a slow and painful death.

I am so with you on the shopping! I actually need to go to Hallmark and get their new Christmas Corgi tree ornament! I am a corgi owner, so it is a must. I mainly shop online too, I get way more satisfaction out of it and I can browse if I want in peace. Have a super weekend!

I think you can count the commercial as being on TV! I didn't like Fran Drescher's voice either.
ReplyDeleteI was not a huge fan of The Nanny but she also did a show where she lived with her ex or something....anyway we watch more baseball on TV these days. I keep cartoons rolling for the puppies during the day so they are not lonely if I get get busy with a project. They lvoe Tom and Jerry, thor barks like mad at them! HaHaHa he is such a funny little dog! I love to read so always lookign for good reads. I spend more time reading in cooler weather though. Hmmmm....always my pleasure to visit you here. HUGs
