Big Happy Birthday wishes to Chloe. I hope she has a wonderful day. If I could go back and photograph a particular Christmas moment, it would be the year in 1957 when my dad thought it would be so funny to have a bag of switches for me under the tree on Christmas morning. I would love to see my face when I saw them. I did get surprises from Santa!! We rarely get snow around here but I think the best fun is building snowmen and just walking around the neighborhood...maybe throwing snowballs at friends. The most meaningful gift I've ever received was simply a card from my grandkids one year. Written notes that will forever hold a place in my heart. Great Water Cooler questions..
ReplyDeletethe most enjoyable thing I remember from the 5 years we lived in snow country, was mother making snow ice cream. YUM.. I can't think of a meaningful gift, but my most favorite gifts were always books, and the 3 foot tall Santa my sons wife gave me the first christmas and about 15 years ago she and Dan gave me my Mary and Baby Jesus on a donkey statue. CASH is my favorite and that is what I got from my grandmother in the mail each year.

ReplyDeleteWhat would I do in the snow - hmmm - I guess try to go down in one of those metal saucers like Chevy Chase did in his Christmas movie. I might kill myself though, but I'd have fun trying.
A memorable Christmas - wish I had our last Chicago Christmas of everyone together and alive. Miss those days.
I think one of the most memorable moments of Christmas for me was the year I got my 2 wheel bike. Oh how I loved that bike and literally rode it until it fell apart.
ReplyDeleteThe most enjoyable part of being in the snow was ... coming in and getting out of the cold and wet clothes !! We didn't have snow but would often drive the 4 hours to the mountains so our boys could have fun. Good memories but not something I miss now at all.

Happy birthday to Chloe! It's hard to pinpoint a gift or time to go back to; there are too many. The most enjoyable thing about snow for me would be watching it from the window - too cold for me!

Single most meaningful Christmas present/gift - to be honest, as I grew up, I enjoyed us all being together as a family; especially with uncles, aunts and cousins visiting.
I still have some photos of those Christmasses. If I were a photographer I'd go back to those years, and take with me people living today who were not born then - so they can enjoy them too.

I'm sure I must have had a meaningful gift at Christmas but nothing comes to mind. Obviously not that meaningful or I would have remembered.
ReplyDeleteAs a photographer, any old photo from when I was a child, just so I could smell those smells, experience one more time a family Christmas. The older I get, the more I study those old photos, to find little morsels of memories, from the background.

ReplyDeleteSingle most meaningful Christmas gift ever received? Wow...I know when I was about 7 I sure was happy to get a Doctor's Kit! As an adult, just seeing the smiles on my children's faces as they opened their gifts on Christmas.
To go back and photograph a Christmas photograph? Gosh, I don't know...I'd love to see my whole family together again on Christmas...including my parents and my siblings, and my own family of hubby and the three boys...and also my hubby's parents and siblings. I don't think we were ever ALL together at the same time, but I sure wish we could be. No date for that, because it would have had to have been before the parents started leaving this world, so sometime before 1995.
The most enjoyable thing to do in the snow is take a walk through the woods or go on a horse and sleigh ride. Thanks, Myra. This was fun to think about.
Happy birthday to your sweet grandgirl!! A set of oil paints was a very meaningful gift, back when I was in junior high. A Christmas photo from the past? Gosh, maybe my mom when she was little. I've never seen any Christmas pictures of her as a child. As for the snow... I have no desire to be that cold, ever again. Florida has spoiled me!! Thanks for the fun questions, Myra!! xo
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Christmas memory was during the year my father took a Sabbatical at Harvard (he was a professor at Emory in biology) and we had the opportunity to spend that Christmas with my grandparents in Fairhaven, Mass. I remember it was bedlam with all of us opening up gifts, but I so wish I had photographs of that time with my wonderful cousins as we reveled in the splendor of having time together. That year, too, my brother and I had ample opportunities to go sledding on a hill behind the house we rented that year. We had never seen such living in Georgia.

What do I like to do best in the snow? Stay warm inside and enjoy looking out at it! 😊
ReplyDeleteI don't like to go out in the snow, I stay inside and keep warm and never enjoy any winter sports like a lot of people do. I don't like winter much at all and prefer summer any day I just don't like to be cold.

Making snow angels of course!♥! Once upon a time, long ago and far away, I lived in Canada. Being a south Texas girl you can imagine the awe I felt having snow all around. It was a great time.
ReplyDeleteI had received a Chatty Cathy doll for Christmas. My nephew Gary was five years younger than me and he turned the hose on her one summer and he had a spanking f rom my dad.I miss that doll. She was so sweet. I like to make snow angels but haven't done that in a while. Good to see you here. Love and Prayers and Hugs. Oh yes, Chloe another fun birthday twin!
ReplyDeleteI've always filled up a bowl with fresh snow as a calorie-free snack. Just make sure it's recently fallen, before the pets and kids have soiled it.
