Whewie! I'm feeling like I mistakenly stepped on the wrong carousel. Normally, aside from doctors' visits, our lives are downright bland.
Seeing his forearm red and swollen, I strongly suggested he change clothes and get in the car. The wait at Urgent Care wasn't as awful as what we've experienced at the Emergency room, but it's still not my idea of a good time. The NP took one look and pronounced, "Cellulitis." A shot and strong antibiotics seems to be doing a number; he sleeps most of the time.
We're scheduled to see his pulmonologist on Tuesday to discuss the results of the CT scan, so I'm a bit on edge. My mom may have been an R.N., but that apple fell far, far away from the tree.
In other news ...
Spotting a FB blurb about something called the "Mill Collective" we took a ride to Tallassee. The store was underwhelming, but it was still a pleasant ride. Sweet, sweet little town! I kept looking around, fully expecting to see my grandfather's old Chevy approaching.
Tom spotted the cafe where I first fell in love with "down home" congeniality -- the old man who held the door for us ... who looked me in the eye when he asked, "How y'all doing?" and waited, seriously expecting an answer. Almost 8 years later, there was no question where to stop.
I hope he's up for it, on account I finally put away our Spring table settings.
Does anyone actually use creamers any more?

ReplyDeleteI saw the video you put on. So true even over here in the UK. Back then in the 60s one salary was enough to bring up a family, pay the mortgage and feel well off - even a holiday abroad every now and then. We also had a car (Bentley) and colour TV. These days both parents work and it seems it is not enough. Why?
Is it because of inflation? Or is it because there are more things that we "want" - cell-phone, subscription TV channels, computers and gadgets for everything, gym memberships and so on. Have our expectations overtaken our incomes? Or are incomes lower because of automation, robotics, AI and less needs for human employees.
I'm confused.

DeletePrayers for Tom. Cellulitis can be painful. My son-in-law had it a couple of years ago and it turned into staph. He was in the hospital for a couple of weeks. I love Southern hospitality.. Glad you all enjoyed your ride to the big city. I'm sure happy to welcome in September tomorrow..

DeleteI looked at a couple of minutes of the 1960's, our first house was in 1969 and was 12,000. 200 down and 105 a month and we thought we would not be able to pay it, our rent of 2 bedroom home was 75 a month. I saved the video to see if Bob might want to watch it.

I just looked up how you get cellulitis and had no idea, it can happen to any or all of us.. my friend Madeline had it over and over but hers were leg problems, she had elephant legs. from all I just read you need to be really careful and watch his arm... yes, we need to be careful what we say or wish for... DeleteOk the most important thing I saw on here was cellulitis. It is critical he keeps an eye on it. It is a blood bacterium, and a lot of people get hospitalized because of it - so be careful.

I'm not that familiar with cellulitis, but I am certainly sorry Tom has it and I pray it goes away and never comes back! I understand that can be nasty stuff. Your recipes sound a bit too spicy for me, but I am sure they are good. I love your fall table settings, and yes, I love little creamer pitchers. I have several. Maybe I should take some pictures of them. Do I use them? No. Not unless I am having a formal tea/coffee kind of party, which I haven't done in ages, sadly. People just don't do fancy anymore, and I am thinking about getting rid of some of those kinds of things. Sad. the end of an era. At first I thought you meant you went to Tallahassee, and I thought, wow, you're getting closer to us! But I guess you really went to a town closer to you that looks like the same name almost. ReplyDeleteFunny story. When we were living in Arizona, looking at real estate online, Zillow kept showing me properties in Tallassee. I'm getting frustrated, curious why they think I'm interested in homes in Florida! What a difference that little letter "h" makes!

DeleteI watched bits and pieces of the video. The part I'm glad is no longer true is smoking on planes. The narrator thinks that was a good idea. I've always been sensitive to cigarette smoke and am thankful to be free of it now. When I was in the hospital when Kaitlin was born my roommate had a lot of visitors, all of them smokers.
