August is National Golf month ... do you play? Do you enjoy following golf? Have you every been to a professional tournament?
Despite a multitude of best efforts, no.
I'm simply too uncoordinated.
On the other hand ...
Random Sunday afternoons we enjoy watching the pros. In years past, we attended the (former) Memorial in Ft. Worth and several smaller venues.
I once worked a ProAm ... Tampa, FL (1980-something)
Bruce Weitz, Betty ? (Hill Street Blues), me with Greg Morris (Mission Impossible) and Michael Tucker (LA Law) ... really nice folks!
Astronaut Jim Lovell of Apollo 13 fame passed away this past Thursday. Are you interested in outer space and what's happening today in terms of space exploration?
Not so much.
If space travel became common in your lifetime would you go?
That's a hard NO!

I've no favorites, but want to see what others recommend!
As a child did you have any back-to-school traditions? If so, did you carry on those same traditions with your own children? Do you have any back-to-school traditions you've started on your own?
The only 'tradition' I recall was carefully selecting what new article(s) of clothing to wear. When I longed for new off-the-rack, my wardrobe usually was a result of mother's sewing machine. In hindsight, I wish I'd been more gracious for her efforts.

The other day she asked me to pass her the lipstick. I accidentally gave her a glue stick and she has not spoken to me since.

Deletegoing to space is a definite no for me .. I’m with you on the celebrity chef. I don’t really have a favorite. I do like to watch Bobby Flay’s show but then I get irritated cause he wins most all the time. lol. and i really was not sure about the communication question.. I’m a talker!! hope I don’t irritate people though by being a talker!! lol

DeleteI'm not one to go to outer space. There is enough for me right here on planet earth. I do enjoy the moon and the stars on a dark night though. I would say my style is that of a thinker. That description hits me to a t. I've only golfed a couple of time. I'm not much of a sports person, but my DDH and the boys loved to golf. My favorite chef has always been Julia Child. I so admire her. Loved your topics today, you always leave me thinking. Love, ma

ReplyDeleteTheHub is a golfer and we do watch tournaments sometimes, though I usually watch with a book in hand or with my eyes closed.
Right?! My mother was horrified when she'd examine a garment and discover a plastic zipper.

DeleteNo outer space trips for me, Myra. Heck, I don't even like having to leave the house - LOL! Golf? No. I'm thrilled that our grands are in a new school where uniforms are required - no quibbling over what to wear. How nice is that? Blessings!

DeleteBack when, long ago and far away, Jim Lovell was in our drug store! Yep, back then it was a drug store not a pharmacy. lol No space travel for me, I'm happy where I'm at, on solid ground. I watch the Food Network all the time and I can't give you the name of anyone but Bobby Flay, and I don't care for him. JMHO Hey!!! It's never too hot for coffee, just sayin'.

I always remember getting a new skirt and sweater for school. Of course it couldn't be worn on the first day because the temps were in the 90's... but I was prepared for the next season. Probably new shoes because of growth over the summer ?? To be honest I was never much of a clothes horse.
My Mom's and Mother in law's recipes are my go to things, since I am not much of a cook or baker.

You should look into the River cruises. Our cruise was 28 years ago so I'm sure some things have changed ... mostly the prices ... HaHa. There are many times to get off the boat and explore the small towns and the food is always good. Makes me want to go again but I think it will stay a Pipe Dream.

DeleteYou know I could sit next to some golf pro and I wouldn’t even know it. The only 2 golfers I have ever heard of was Arnold Palmer and Tiger Woods. That’s the extent of golf for me.

As for drinking coffee in hot weather - I only have coffee in the morning. But I crave Mexican food on hot days. Yum.

DeleteThe stick and ball sports has never been my cup of tea. I did play softball when I was very young but that was only because I was bored.
ReplyDeleteDifferent flavors of coffee is my thing. I enjoy multiple cups of it through out the day but tend to stop towards the evening so I can get to sleep.
I lost interest in space travel when I moved away from the Space Coast (Titusville). I couldn't tell ya who's doing what now.
It seems I'm a little bit of all those communication styles. Maybe I'm just a hot mess. 🤣🤣
