Dare I share an old reverie?
Possessed with a voice like Fitzgerald, I stand stage right in a smoky piano bar ... martini in hand ... and sing to a room full of strangers.
..... all the while thinking of someone who's life once crossed my path -- for better or worse.

The list goes on.
Not just daydreams. Like quotes from a book, I collect lyrics. A couple favorites --
"Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then ..."

"I keep a memory bouquet"
I want to hear and hold words that don't sound like a used car lot deal. Or rap. Especially rap.

“Can’t but that kind of dirt for cheap”…. Cody Johnson! and “If you’ve got a chance take it..take it while you’ve got a chance.”. I love that “ I keep a memory bouquet.”. This was fun to think back on meaningful lyrics.

I will add it to my play list and I needed this song, I have cried all morning and this is just what I needed TODAY. thank you

DeleteMusic always takes me away, though it is not necessarily the lyrics as much as it is the actual music. To me the single best pop instrumental is behind the song Me and Mrs. Jones. Strings, brass, woodwinds, percussion. . .every time I hear it, I am in awe of whoever scored it.

DeleteI am such a music nerd. Love most classical which I learned to appreciate through my band leader in high school. He could paint musical pictures to make the sounds make sense.

DeleteThere are so many songs and hymns that I love, how in the world could I pick just one lyric? I am such a sentimental person, most songs bring back memories of times past . . . sometimes blue, sometimes happy. Some songs make me melancholy for days long ago. I still listen to oldies when I can, sometimes they take me into a time of carefree days, and make me long to go back for a visit.

Deletethecontemplativecat here. I know the first line of a lyric and the rest is a bunch of words I try to figure out. I listen to the guitar; Lynard Skynard's guitarist is Rickey Medlocke, Lukas Nelson can make those strings melt..I can always hum along with that.
