If this is Wednesday

It must be time for the Hodgepodge.
Thank you, Joyce!

What's something you're curious about right now?

This ...

Mother's Day gift from Troy and Lois.  Not my usual genre, but they just concluded the audio version (17 hours!) and speak highly of it.

If you could plan the perfect girl's weekend getaway, where would you go and what would be on the agenda?  Do you have anything like this on your calendar in the next few months?

Ha ... I wish!
Given Macie Ann's recent CHF diagnosis* and Tom's health challenges, leaving home -- even for the weekend -- isn't on my Bingo card right now.

What's the most unique item in your refrigerator right now?

I'd like to say this, mixed with riced cauliflower was a hit.  But no.
(So why, 'self', is it still in there?)

In this season of your life, what do you find most challenging?

Accepting and adapting to physical/aging challenges.

Do you collect anything?  If so, why that?

Except for sentimental treasures, I'm all about purging anything that gathers dust!
Nevertheless, I think my dad's old cigar box holding favorite quotes, song lyrics and verses is a collection.  Best, paper doesn't take up much room!

Insert your own random thought here.

This is me!

and me

also me

Y'all enjoy a large day!
Hugs, Myra

Macie's doing well, right now and we're praying her vet caught her heart condition in time.  She's on an aggressive prescriptions regimen twice daily, but that hasn't slowed her appetite or enthusiasm.  Every day's a gift!

  1. I don't have any girls weekend planned, but I am planning to take a trip home to Ohio this summer. I miss my family still living there so it will be great to see them all! So sorry to hear the diagnosis of your little dog. I'm sure you must be doing all you can for her, and pray she'll do well. I'm like you and tend to keep everything just in case, which never comes, but my daughter is just the opposite and cleans out everything not in use or expired. You'll have to let us know what you think of that book. Happy reading! Love, ma

  2. What a fun treasure to have from your dad! It's so true that good health is the key to aging well. Without it there are so many challenges, but I suppose that's part of how we continue to grow too. Adapting and accepting. Hope you have a great day!

    1. He was so certain they (cigar boxes) would be worth $ someday, but no. I'm happy to have this one.

  3. Well the avocado made me laugh, I feel the same!! Health issues keep us close to home too, and they keep us from wanting to go very far. So, we make do and enjoy our days together. We also just went through a purging spell, got rid of so much stuff. I tend to hold on to things and I'm working on stopping that habit. Have a great day.

  4. Cute quotes for the day and I'm already laughing..the first one is me..I forget about the camera and instead, I nearly break my neck checking behind me and all around. Same here...no get-aways planned for anytime soon around here. I once was guilty of wanting to collect everything...NOT anymore! I have learned that those things are not important so out the door they went. So neat that you have your dads cigar box...now that is a treasure. Have a good one Myra.

  5. Love the avocado quote! Too funny and oh so true.
I’m not into “girl’s getaways” Since my two best friends have passed (and what we had cannot be replaced) I’m no longer interested. I don’t mind a “lunch” I prefer getaways with my husband.

  6. Loved the avocado reference! Yep!! Hoping the meds help your sweet Macie!! I use my rear camera but only after looking over my shoulders, both ways first. Old habits are sometimes good habits!! Sending a hug!!

  7. I sure hear you about not being able to plan any type of get-away, Myra. Not in the cards for me, either, but that's okay. I don't collect anything either, but I do save cards that are of sentimental value. Have a great week!

  8. Let us know what you think about that book. I can understand that it would be hard for you to take a girls getaway. That's an interesting ingredient. I've never seen that. I agree with you on adapting. It is not easy at all. I try not to collect anything anymore. What you are collecting sounds very nice. Enjoyed your random thoughts.

    1. I discovered that -- zero carbs -- when trying to accommodate those on Keto at Thanksgiving. Good, but not great.

  9. Sigh, We have been such big collectors of "Things" for so long that its difficult to get rid of them. Believe it or not we are in the process of planning a garage sale when our son Mark and family will be down. The purging begins. So much is valuable and we don't want to sell it for pennies but so much MUST GO ! Pray that we can accomplish a big amount.
These days we stick pretty much close to home as our car won't do long distances or hubby's body..Life is changing and we are trying to adapt without a whole lot of whining.. ( :0)

    1. Oh wow, that's a task -- something I wouldn't want to do again -- but I'm happy to hear you'll have Mark and family to help out. Praying!

  10. I love all of your quotes at the end. The awkward one . . .sometimes I say the most awkward things!! I'm sorry about all of the health issues and how they keep you home. I agree - it is hard to adapt to getting older.

    1. This wasn't what I envisioned -- but like momma used to say, things could always be worse.

  11. I am with everyone else and love the quotes at the end. I would like to say I just think they are funny but I can't relate to them. Unfortunately that would be a bold face lie.

  12. You will have to let us know about the book - seems an interesting choice.
    So what is CHF?
And I could not read what was in that bottle - mashed ?
I know exactly what you mean about having to deal with physical issues.
I don't have a back up camera - my car is old - and so am I - very hard to turn around and look.
Gen Z if you see an older person driving and older car - pay a little attention or you might get hit.

    1. CHF stands for congestive heart failure, Sandie. The bottle contains carb-free flavoring drops I put on riced cauliflower to make them taste like mashed potatoes.

  13. Praying for you all. Life can be challenging sometimes, Mevely; when it does, stop take a deep breath and thank God for looking after you.

    Praying extra right now.

    God bless.

  15. You surely stuck a note with this post as it seems many of us as in the same walk of life at this time. Being transparent is a great blessing to all and of course humor is always a plus. Thanks for sharing.

    AND YOU SAID:

Accepting and adapting to physical/aging challenges!
aIN'T IOT THE TRUTH. Cannot get myself back onthe road yet. Spending my time alone in the basement building the apt. Still a lot to do. Now starting plumbing the bathroom and gotta do a tile shower.
Love from NC and as so many time, enjoyed your post..

  17. Ain't that truth (Accepting and adapting to physical/aging challenges)--in my case responding to a rude dr.'s comment on my age and weight and how I need to be grouped into "studies say". Sigh...wishing you a lovely Saturday my friend.
