School may already be out for the Summer -- but just like we did in 3rd Grade, I still like playing "Show and Tell."
Here are several .....
Some of y'all may remember seeing this little box ... but it puts a smile on my face every time I sit down at the desktop.
If you guessed the Library used to be one of my favorite places, you'd be right!
It's contents? Colored and lined index cards ... my guilty obsession pleasure.
I know hibiscus really needs planted outside.

We normally order our flash frozen chile directly from New Mexico.
Nevertheless, when I spotted this in Publix's international aisle, I couldn't resist grabbing a can.
Granted it's not as good as fresh, but the flavor's unmistakable.
(Aside: Until a couple of years ago it wasn't unusual to see 'Hatch' labels on lots of canned goods. When the "powers that be" stepped up and demanded authenticity, however, it's funny how many manufacturers suddenly changed their branding.)

I need to put mother's wedding china away until next Spring. On a whim, however, I've decided to keep this out as a repository for random pieces of jewelry.

He may not have won 'American Idol' (boo-hiss), but I've no doubt John Foster's going bigger and better places.

Good morning ! I loved seeing your show and tell. My grandsons last day of school was just yesterday here, and he is sleeping in this morning. We had some rain overnight and the air is a little cooler this morning, but still it's going to be in the upper 90's today! My daughter has an hibiscus plant here on the porch. They are beautiful ! DeleteOH, I enjoyed your show and tell. Lots of fun stuff here. I love your mother's gravy boat, and I love that you are keeping it out and enjoying it, even if it isn't holding the gravy! LOL. It's beautiful. I never knew a hibiscus flower would bloom indoors! That's amazing! And that library index card catalog box is special! Yes, I would love that too. I'm not familiar with Hatch chili's, and probably wouldn't care to be as we really don't eat hot peppers, but I'm sure it's good if you like them. LOL. I haven't watched American Idol in ages, so I'm out of the loop, but they do get some wonderful talented people there who make a name for themselves even if they don't win.

Growing up in New Mexico, I suspect my taste buds were acclimated to "hot" from an early age (lol). If I see any rain clouds I'll shoo them your way!

Deletea great show and tell post...The library box is a treasure for sure. And..that piece of your moms china is something I would probably leave out all the time. I still have my MIL's Fall dishes out on my table..Sam likes them and I just felt like he might need to see them out a bit longer. I use those hatch chilies in all of my Mexican dishes. You are right..they are not as tasty as the fresh hatch peppers, but these sure add a lot of taste to a meal. LOL...I do have a favorite burner and a favorite spatula as well.. How many of us are there that has these favorites? lol. Enjoy a wonderful Memorial Day Weenend.

ReplyDeleteThe hibiscus suddenly reminded me of a colleague at work from years ago. He had a similar plant in his office. As a young 20 years old I did not know what it was and I asked him. That's the first time I heard the word hibiscus. Thanx Mevely.

DeletePS - The 'drawer' is actually a wooden replica I found in a thrift shop last year.
I saw where that young man has already got a recording contract. Good for him. I don't have mother's china, but I do have several pieces of my grandmother's cut crystal. It's so pretty, I use a piece for my jewelry too. I've already shared several pieces with my girls, what's left I will leave out and enjoy it. I kept it 'put up' too long.
