Congratulations to Joyce on her #600th edition of the Hodgepodge -- what's perhaps the friendliest neighborhood in Blogville.
As most of y'all know, she asks the questions and in turn, we answer on our own blogs. Friends and newcomers alike are welcome!
Let's go!
My (Joyce speaking) very first edition of The Wednesday Hodgepodge was published on November 10, 2010. Tell us something about your life from that era.
I was working full-time at the resort in Phoenix -- loving the feel of being a contributing member of a family-friendly team. (That was all before Big Corporate took over, but let's not go there.)

We'd few friends, but outside of work and family birthdays, there was little time for socialization. Blogging, loving my heart dog Cara, and just trying to stay out of the unforgiving Phoenix heat are 3 that immediately come to mind.
What's a song you love that relates to time in some way?
That's a tie between
May is nearly upon us. When did you last need to yell "MAY DAY! MAY DAY!"?
Not long after I bought my Volkswagen, while waiting to turn out onto a busy street, it inexplicably lost power. Yes, all power.
It turned out to be an incompatible chip, but that's a feeling I never want to experience again.
How do you feel about food trucks? Is this a dining experience you enjoy? Do you have a favorite? What's something you've ordered from a food truck?
We've only a few experiences at community park events. Fond of climate-controlled restaurants, dining outdoors in a camp chair's "just okay" once in a while.
Big Except!
Hey Bebe's Chef Joe brings the taste of New Orleans to Central Alabama. He's usually set up in and around the Birmingham metro, but any time Joe brings his truck to Millbrook, I'm there.
Our fav is the Italian Sausage and Asiago Cheese Boululatta, but the Jambalaya's a close second.
We're bidding farewell to April. What are 3 adjectives you might use to describe the month you've leaving behind?
Delightful family time
Weighty written words
Delicious food

This song's been on my mind for a while now.
30 days, as a matter of fact!|
Sing along, won't you?
Hugs, Myra

I'd rather go to a restaurant than a food truck, that's for sure. Although, I've enjoyed watching the show on Food Network where teams compete with food trucks. Some of what they make is so intriguing. Have a great week, Myra!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome working at the resort. Yes, that heat is definitely heavy in Arizona. Two good song choices. Losing power on your car had to be very scary. That meal sounds yummy from Chef Joe. April sounds like it was a good one. Thanks for sharing the song.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe your poor thing that your car went out on you like that - terrifying.
ReplyDeleteI love that song with Anthony and his son - both handsome men I might add.
I don't know of any food trucks around here.
Have a great day!
I love Three Dog Night and will be singing that for the rest of the day. Thanks for sharing! The AZ temps are crazy, but I enjoy it in the wintertime. Have a nice day!
ReplyDelete2010 had us just 3 years into our "Forever Home" in the greater Sacramento Area. It was a time of new beginnings, new church, being closer to some of our family .We were establishing ourselves in different ministries and ways to serve. It really was a good era.
ReplyDeleteMay Day..was a recent call for me when we hit financial difficulties, health issues and stumbling blocks seemed to happen one after another..I kept saying "Enough already !"
I have eaten at a few really good food trucks but I admit to liking indoor dining and being served and not having to clean up afterwards.
April has been UPs and Downs and Memories
Sue
Thank you so much for the two songs from Casablanca and Bocelli. They brought back memories. God bless you always.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness...I've never heard that song with Andre Bocelli and his son Matteo. I was in tears. I had to go find it in English so I could understand the words, and also found their actual video of them singing it as sung here. It was amazing. And I've never heard that song by Three Dog Night! Where was I? Wow! Thank you for sharing these with us. That one song has really blessed me. Wow.
ReplyDeleteIt's sounds like you had a great April! I hope May is too. ❤️
ReplyDeleteMy first thought was Time in a Bottle by Jim Croce, but As Time Goes By is a big favorite.
ReplyDeleteI've had so many May Day! calls that I can't keep track. I'm thinking of when a pipe broke and my bathroom was flooding. Same thing happened in my kitchen....
I'm not fond of food trucks - - only if I was desperately hungry.
I love Three Dog Night!! I'm late getting here but promise to catch up!! My company leaves this morning. :(
ReplyDeleteHere in Texas I see a lot of Taco Food trucks all over I'vee also seen trucks serving Margaretas! We usually eat at restaurants not food trucks though, Texes is known for its country fried steak with gravy! Hope the weather settles down some in the Month of May! Love, ma
ReplyDeleteWe have lots of taco trucks in and around Birmingham and I actually follow Hey Bebe on social. They have been to our neighborhood before. Oh my goodness - I haven't heard Pieces of April in a long long time!!! (play on that time!)
ReplyDeleteHow scary to suddenly lose power in your car. Love the Time to Say goodbye song.
ReplyDeleteWe have several food trucks that come to our little town each week...LOL..I've never eaten from any of them. Not sure why. Most of them are Taco trucks or BBQ trucks. April was a beautiful month around here with rain and blooming flowers, but I am glad to see May arrive....Hope you have a fabulous day today ...I always enjoy your post.
ReplyDeleteThanks for writing this. Isn't Andrea Bocceli the best? You reminded me of him and I have him on right now! I'm enjoying my cabinet painting, listening to Andrea. A great day indeed!
ReplyDeleteYou always have such interesting shares. I am sorry about your car. That is a terrible feeling. Andrea Bocelli, I love him so much. Such talent. His son too. I had a question for you. I think your grad girl is born on Dec. did she marry on May 3? It is our wedding anniversary and of course, I am a Dec 3 birthday girl. We live close to the park so they hold lots of events with the food trucks. Always great choices too. Years ago Noelle & Roger (RIP) took us to our first food truck. It was in Denver proper and oh the yummy things we had. Memories, such great ones. Love & Hugs to you.
