G'morning!
Looking back at my FB Memories, it's hard to believe we've been here in Alabama 6 years. .....which begs the question, "What took me so long?"
Counting my birthplace, I've moved (states) 6 times. I know many folks double that number; others have never replaced their vehicle's license plate.
Just for fun, I'm curious:
- IF you could live in any state other than the one in which you currently reside, which state would you choose?
- WHAT are your three favorite states to visit on a vacation? and/or,
- In what part of our country can you not even imagine having to live?
Remember friends, these are only hypothetical! No-one's suggesting you pick up your tent! 😉

The only place I would hypothetically live is somewhere closer to my kids and grands. My home is with Danny in Georgia, and I thank the Lord that I was raised in the South. So great to have you in Alabama, my friend. I'm praying for your safety in these spring storms!

ReplyDeleteOver here, it is so small we have counties instead of states. England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are divided into counties. It's nice to be in Bournemouth in Dorset which is by the sea. Or in Edinburgh in Scotland. I've also lived in London ... too crowded.

Oh, I'm so sorry for the thoughtless questions, Victor -- of course I know better! Someday I'd like to see the UK again - this time through adult eyes.
DeleteNo problem, Mevely. Over here because the UK is so small all the counties are close to each other which is why we have small cars. If we had big cars then the front of the car would be in one county and the back in another without the car moving at all. That is also why we have cars driving slowly; to make journeys last longer and give people the impression they are travelling long distances. Sometimes driving just 50 miles can take over an hour.
DeleteDespite the short distances between counties, towns and cities we have many different accents. Like Glasgow accent sounds different to Edinburgh a few miles away, or Liverpool, Manchester, or Cardiff in Wales. London has many different accents.
Humour is different too. I could tell a joke in London and they would laugh. Whereas the same joke told in your town and no one would laugh. That's because you're too far away to hear it.

Because all the grandchildren are in California I'd relocate there in a heartbeat (if I could afford it).

DeleteI really like where I am now. But my favorite place to visit would be Florida! I have family there too. I moved from cold Ohio to hot Texas and I'm loving the warmer weather! I hope you stay safe in your big blow! Take care and be happy! Love, ma

The states i would never move to is any state in the North East.

Naturally I love visiting Florida. I think North Carolina is gorgeous and I love visiting NYC.
I cannot imagine living somewhere with snow. I have never had to shovel that stuff in my life and don't want to start now.
Snowy winters were the backdrop of my childhood years. In some ways I miss that, but would find it hard, if not impossible, to do the same things I did at 6. Or 16.
DeleteI have always lived in Northern California. I really love the beauty of it and the ability to go within a few hours to the ocean or the mountains and even the desert. The politics and cost of living and the current philosophy of the state aren't in my wheelhouse. It is very difficult to live here now on a fixed income. Will I move? No my family is here.

DeleteI will never live where it is cold, snowy, and icy ever again. I'll stay in Florida, thank you very much (35 years so far). Vacation states? I would like to visit Texas, Maine, and New Mexico. DeleteThere are two places I would hypothetically live other than Georgia: Texas Hill Country and Western South Carolina. They all offer excellent twisties for those of us on motorcycles. Same answer for #2.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite states to visit are, of course, Texas but I'm quite partial to Arkansas and New Mexico. Both beautiful in their own way.
I though I love to visit some of the states on the East Coast, I can't imagine actually living there. I also can't imagine living anywhere further north than I am in Oklahoma. Southern Cali and Alaska are not even on my chart of liveable places!

DeleteI've never lived anywhere but Alabama. If I were to move, I would want to move to a state that has a warm coastal area and I really like Alabama so I think I'll stay!! I do know that I would not want to live where it is cold for more months than warm nor where there is very little daylight in the winter. I hope I never have to move to a place like that!

DeleteI was born in PA, but moved to Florida when I was almost 6. Stayed here until after hubby and I were married, and then we moved a LOT. GA., SC, NC, OH, MI, NH, KS, ME, and back to FL. A couple of those places we moved to twice, (GA, and Ohio). Some were temporary moves while hubby pursued higher education/seminary, and then came the Ministry! Now we are back in our home state of Florida and have been here in Florida for the past almost 27 years, but we have moved several times within the state during those years. I HOPE we aren't ever moving again, but with our record, I never say never! If I had a choice of places I would like to live again out of those places, it would probably be North GA., with a summer place in Maine. LOL. I hope to never move to Kansas again. That was a mistake in the first place, and we only stayed 4 months and couldn't wait to get out of there! LOL. Okay, so you asked the questions. I bet you never expected to see such a long list! LOL. Have a lovely day my friend. Hope you are safe and sound. We are expecting the storm to arrive here shortly, but not as bad as what you all experienced yesterday. At least I hope not! DeleteNo, Kansas doesn't interest me so much -- but I would like to spend time in northern Georgia.
I would probably say Montana since Amber and Dylan live there. I did like growing up in Chicago. I can't seem to be coming up with answers for the 2 other questions.
